If Nintendo could've had 1/2 and ALTTP had realistic graphics, they would've.

Of course, it came off as a bad rubbing for me, because I was expecting a slightly more enthralling, less naval experience.

I got mixed messages from the game.

I enjoyed the HUGE ocean experience, however, the problem was having to change the wind direction all the time. If there was a faster and more dynamic way to do it, it would of been great.

Still a very very good game.

I'm not sure what you mean by 'If Nintendo could've had 1/2 and ALTTP had realistic graphics'...

Are you suggesting that if Nintendo could of, the first games would of had realistic graphics? No. You can't make a judgement like that. For one thing, you have no idea. And Nintendo could of made ALttP much more realistic and they didn't. Shadowrun is an example of a Snes game with 'realistic' graphics. They didn't go for that route. ALttP has cartoonish graphics all around and it's not to do with technical limitations.

The Adventure of Link showed that you can do 'realistic' style graphics in those days. Those graphics were not in a 'cartoon' style at all. They were simple, yes, 8-bit of course, but not cartoony like every other Zelda game aside from the N64 games.

All I know is that it was certainly possible to go for a more realistic style and they didn't.

In the end, it doesn't matter. They went for somewhat cartoony style and that's what the Zelda series *primarily* is, whether people like it or not.

Don't get me wrong, I don't dislike the realistic Link of the N64 games and the new Zelda game, hell, I think it looks great, but it doesn't make sense to say they 'suit' a Zelda game better.

I could not imagine ALttP, one of (and possibly THE) the greatest games in the series with realistic graphics, nor do I think the wonderful Minish Cap would work with a realistic style.

Nor do I dismiss that fact either.

It's just that the implimentation of cel-shading at a time when it was pretty much as common as whores in a red light district is what irked me. Don't get me wrong, I love the graphics the way they look. I just don't like them being implimented into the game's first outting onto a new system during the deluge. I just really felt that they didn't synch up with the game.

Cel shading was common? I thought it was pretty rare during production but became more and more common around the time of release.

I can't actually think of many games that have true cel-shading.

You make it sound like they were added afterwards.. They were always there, really. They probably shouldn't of made that fancy tech demo though.

Well, they had a Zelda themed tech demo for N64 back in the days. That Link looks nowhere like the one in OOT... and thank god for that. So I wouldn't be surprised if they did another Zelda tech demo for the next genearation.

Actually, yes, there were many early demos for OoT, but in the earliest (just a tech demo I believe) Link was depicted fighting a Darknut and looked much more like the Link shown in official art for ALttP, but with a slightly 'stunted' stature that was reminicent of his sprites in TLoZ and ALttP.

Later shots of an actual prototype game engine showed Link fighting Stalfos (who again looked like the official art of Stalfos Knights from ALttP), and opening a mysterious crystalline rock that held the complete Triforce (leading to tons of bloody rumours about a 'Sky Temple', despite the fact that the 'sky' shown in the shots is actually water if you look closely). His model had become much more proportionate and looked more like a cross between the ALttP official art and the final OoT model (still with brown hair). This quickly changed, his hair becoming more ginger (before finally reaching blonde) and his design modified slightly. It took longer for the Stalfos to gain their ugly, ragged appearance and twisted swords, however. Darknuts still existed in the game at this stage, too (Stalfos and Darknuts being the earliest enemies shown).

Personally I think the best look for Link was in the ALttP official art and the opening and ending sequences of Link's Awakening.

Is it just me, or are all zeldas after Ocarina of time released follow chronically too? Unlike the older games... it was kinda obvious that it would be after TWW. Unless they could fit another game between TWW and OOT somehow. OOT is the earliest one thought so I doubt that would be changed.

I hope Revolution is backwards combitable...
You are in luck my friend it was stated today at GD confrence that the revolution will be Backward compatible and Wifi capable out of the box...meaning free internet as opposed to XBOX with its pay out of the ass internet.

Also DS is wifi capatible as well with animal crossing being one of the first games to be Wifi. Imagine...Animal crossing globally!!!

They released a new video from Legend of Zelda...

I'm impressed, but at the same time i'm not as impressed as when I saw Ocarina of time for the first time. Then, Graphics are hardly impressing me nowdays, gameplay does.

The game is alot darker than any of the Zelda games, so I could see why they choosed a realistict style. Althought I did like the graphics style of Zelda the Wind waker. So i'm not preferring any of them. As long it fits the game...

To Wifi work, it must be able to contact with a wireless router, however I probably buy one cheap or they maybe release one cheap...

*cries* It's so beautiful!

I don't even care that it's delayed. Not even if it were delayed for two years would I care. This is the game of the decade for me, and it's just got to be something approaching Ocarina's majesty.

When Zelda got darker with Majora, it was actually really well done and made a great game. Here's hoping the same ambition and design perfection make it into the game. Anything less will always be disappointing.

Majoras mask is actually my favorite 3D Zelda game, one reason I actually liked it was the dark storyline. Intresting thought, Link is a kid in this game yet it was the most "mature" Zelda in the series. No wonder why it got 12+ here... Majoras mask was shorter than Ocarina of time but it felt well-made.

Althought then, it would be a nice launch title for Revolution... I really don't care about the game getting delayed either infact. As long it is for a good reason... they shouldn't slack either. *cough*Duke Nukem forever*cough*

It's... Been... Delayed? Nooooooooo!!! I haven't watched the trailer yet. (Curse you dialup!) But I loved the first one... I'm 80% done with this one as I type....

Oh, and for everybody talking about how all the 2D games before OoT were "Cartoony," did you forget Zelda II? That had some of the most realistic game sprites out of any NES game I've seen.

Zelda's Secret Ocarina - contains several screenshots of these things under the Beta Zelda 64 section (I've looked through most of them)

Hi-res too, thanks. I saw it yesterday, but it was low-res and you needed to be a member for getting it in high resulution.

Heh, I hope for big areas now in the new Legend of Zelda. But not too big, and hopefully you get the horse quite early in the game if they're going for the big enviroment approch. It's so hard to tell with thoose screenshots.
