It's taking place after TWW.

It says IGN twice in that article. I fail to trust it.

I'd like to know how reliable the French magazine is first. If it is reliable, then I'll take IGN's word for it even though they're just passing along info.

I figure that if the Revolution isn't coming out until the middle of 2006, then this might be a pretty good move for Nintendo to sap some of the cash out of the holiday season. IF it's a simultaneous release of course.

A multiplayer Zelda for DS would be awesome, Four swords for Gamecube rocked together when I played together with my sisters.

Is it just me, or are all zeldas after Ocarina of time released follow chronically too? Unlike the older games... it was kinda obvious that it would be after TWW. Unless they could fit another game between TWW and OOT somehow. OOT is the earliest one thought so I doubt that would be changed.

I hope Revolution is backwards combitable...

If you have ever heard anything Miyamoto has said about the Zelda series. He wants the timeline and stories and all of it to be up to the gamer. He won't say "This one comes after this one, and right before this one." He says the same thing about Mario. It could be the same thing over and over, or its the same story told over and over again in different ways.

Although there are some decisive storyline links, such as Zelda/Zelda II. Can't exactly fib your way out of that one if it was even spelled out in the manual, Shiggy.

a storyline change? well, all the zelda games can never really be placed on a timeline other than when they came out. Well, I'm looking forward to this game. Since it seems to be released on the gamecube, this might actually make me buy one

I heard that at some point Miyamoto said that there was a document that says all the games are somehow related to each other.

I personally prefer not to think about it.

I'd LOVE to see that official document for two reasons.

1) It's probably confusing as hell and has a lot of arrows pointing back and forth between the games.
2) It would probably piss off a ton of gamers who have their own theories and refuse to accept the document as fact.

Zeldalegends dot net has never led me wrong, and doesn't report on rumors.

IGN wouldn't consciously lie about this either.

I'm just glad this links to TWW. Meaning it links to OoT and MM.

To be honest, who cares if it links (no pun intended) to any other Zelda game? Linkage is an afterthought, after you've played the games. Unless they decide to clearly make some sort of [official] canon timeline.

I could of sworn I heard Shigeru mention that this game was taking place after TWW, and that the style was done the way it is because Link is older, the previous beautifull cartoony style was fitting to his childhood, and now he's a teen/adult, whichever. Also, linking to other games can be importaint for the story, which has more of a meaning in games like this then it did in the past when a story didn't require relations with others, or a story wasn't needed much at all.

I am going to go out on a limb and say the timeline is as such...

Ocarina of Time > Majora's Mask > The Wind Waker > 2005 > Oracle of Ages/Seasons > The Minish Cap > A Link to the Past > Link's Awakening > Four Swords > The Legend of Zelda > Adventures of Link

Not exactly certain of Awakening's place. Obviously TWW is after OoT/MM and 2005 is after it; Four Swords/Link to the Past are clearly same time, Minish Cap has to be before four swords but after OoA/OoS because of references to Din being a dancer and Nayru being a singer from their respective lands, roles they only took to hide from the bad guys in those games. And, we know LttP is before the first Zelda game, and that AoL is after that. So.

Or just mabye they're all COMPLETELY UNRELATED in a time line (minus the first two and the Oracle games)

However, in your line, Awakening could take place anywhere between an extended gap, though the games next to it must end/start with Hyrule (which disqualifies the Oracle sreies as direct neighbors)

Although there are several starting points that are just evil, like the fact that in a few games it seems like it's the first time he's had to do anything (OoT, ALttP, etc)...

In any case, I think that I read that LA takes place after Zelda 2 in the manual.

Also, on the DS Zelda, I'd much rather prefer the less cartoony style of the GB[C] games. That, and as I've said before in another thread, Minish Cap was a letdown for me

That's why he said the Wind Waker was about years after Ocarina of Time...

Although I am a bit skeptical about the info presented, I guess it would be flippin' sweet.

I don't even care about the timeline to be perfectly honest. You can come up with all the conspiracy theories you want, but who really cares at the end of the day as long as the games are of high quality.

Agreed. I was seriously hoping just for a simple "LttP graphic" redesign of a game instead of what we got with the Minish Cap. (if that made sense, sorry)

Anyways ... as some have already stated, the "timeline" really isn't that big of a deal. Look at OoT and LttP for example, storyline wise, they're extremely similar only OoT has a time leap, and LttP provides the Golden Land / Dark World.

Whenever the hell this game takes place, I don't really care. It looks too badass to worry so much about that.

I have heard that Epona will play a big role in this game though, although that sounds all dandy and great, I hope Nintendo doesn't overdo it like they did with the boat in WW, for me personally, I've always enjoyed the free roaming and walking around style that past older Zelda games gave off.
