If anyone is interested in editing the graphics for Iggy's platform or the spinning Reznor background, I made a simple utility that will help greatly. It will allow you to convert GFX27.bin to a format compatible with a tile editor. After editing it you can convert it back to a format that SMW can read...

Get it here

Two days ago I was initially planning on making an edior, so I began laying some groundwork down. Then yesterday it hit me that I could just convert the file format and save myself a ton of work, and this is what i ended up with

Alright! This is very cool. Good work.

One problem: now try editing the platform with changed graphics all the way. Kind of hard... unless you know what tile is what.

I think maybe a new update to the other editor is at hand that loads custom graphics... maybe...

Hey mike, what did you write this program it? Maybe I can steal your source and make a crappy bootleg utility that lets you edit it without converting it externally.

What this would probably need is built in editing and a preview that shows how the tiles fit together in the game. Unless of course we're on the level of awesomeness that lets us edit the actual tilemap...

This reminds me, I'd really love to see a way to make custom layer 3's,, with custom graphis and tilemaps per level... I know it's limited in colours but who cares, it would be amazing... Maybe one day

The technical possibilities to do that already exist (L3 stuff), but it requires asm hacks, and the only way to spread them effectively is including them in LM, which fusoya doesn't develop any further.
And, either way, the top part of layer 3 is reserved by the status bar, which sucks for levels because it would hinder you from displaying layer 3 level data in that area.
