well it more of a compliment than anything else, is there any way you could let us know if there maybe be any severe changes? I.E. new equipment, music, skills? perhaps putting your asm hacking to the max. JW anyway this is great material ive always loved your work good job, and keep it up

I hate fake percentages, so I'm not going to lie there. But even if all of the overworlds finished and plenty of dungeons done, there's still going to have quite some time to invest to finish this hack. Aside these, I'm going to have spend countless other hours to fix plenty of bugs if I want this to go public. Then I'm going to have to make sure I didn't forget anything (like pieces of hearts for instance) and play test it thoroughly.

There's going to have item changes, that's sure. Music... I don't think so. As for the ASM.. I'm no asm hacker, so probably nothing major (Probably interfaces changes there and there.)

sounds good, thanks for replying to all of our questions by the way, alot of ppl just read and disregard all questions, item changes huh, like raplacment changes or brand new skill to go along with them?, you dont have to answer if im poking in to much, i dont want to ruin anything thats supossed to be surprise, after all this time i didnt even notice i new link's sprite was diff but i couldnt put my finger on somthing, then i noticed , YAY NO MORE PINK HAIR, that in itself will make tha hack perfect. haha i love little changes especially graphically , and this is shaping up to be a showcase of new pallettes and textures, simply brilliant. ok enuff for now , CARRY ON

I don't mind answering questions as long as they don't spoil the hack that much.

Graphicly thinking all the items won't be the same. They usage through will probably stay the same except a few of them. Nothing major since my ASM knowledge is innexistent as of now. You can expect various GFX changes in almost everything aswell. Especially in the dark world which I've decided not to show anything till release.

Two screens from what I'm currently working on:

Well after been getting better at dungeons, I started editing the tilesets. While this isn't much, I expect to do more tilesets editing and do them better later.

I decided also to scrap a bunch of dungeons (About four of them) since I consider they weren't up for the hack. That may slow down the overall progress a bit, but I'm still heading for a summer 2005 release. Each of them will now have a theme (Fire, forest, water etc..) instead of general dungeons.

Your tileset and palette edits are fantastic! I love the idea of grass in a dungeon (and you pulled off the graphics PERFECTLY).

I've seen very few Zelda 3 graphics edits, but if there were more, you would still be at the top of the list of *Best Graphics* out of all of them.

I am quite enjoying myself looking over your excellent screenshots.

*thumbs up*

Awesome. Link looks frickin great, the font and the grass are just w00t, and the dungeon looks hard but not cheap-hard (though it's not easy to tell from 2 pics ). What I've seen so far is professional quality.

oh and something about sprites and beamos any zelda 3 hackers should look out for, the beamos won't shoot if there's too many sprites in that room (4 shooters will definately make them not work, i've tried), they will after you kill a few of those sprites out though.

Actually it doesn't open using the torches since it's a SW kill enemies to open tag. I've tried the torch thing and like you said, for some reason, it doesn't work. About the beamos room, it's working good.. they shoot at you.

Finally after quite some time I got rid of the rain definitely. First, by using Euclid's layer HEX codes. Then finally I started messing with the wave editor. and quite frankly it isn't hard to get rid of the rain + thunder sounds. You only have to delete the samples 1 and 19. (By deleting I mean you select a good amount of the sample and delete it by pressing the del button on your keyboard). You keep the beginning and remove the loop. (If you get rid of the beginning altogether, HM will crash when you'll try to save the changes). Like that for edit 1 and 19:

After that you won't hear rain and thunder anymore after starting a new game. That's a really good thing if you ask. Finally, to get rid of the rain layer, at hex adress: 0x13206 change the value to 80. You'll get no rain overlay in the beginning.

-----

Now for something totally different, I started editing the sprites and there palettes, see:

That's just a start. BTW the front faces of the soldier comes from the credits sequence and the side ones from BS Zelda 3. More at a later time.

What's up with the Dark World-style "rubbery" tree canopies in the Light World? Are you trying to mimick Graal or something? Because I gotta say, those normal-faced soldiers really help drive it home.

A-hyuck! =P

Seriously though, this is a nice hack. It looks convincing, and not thrown together like all the others. That's not an easy thing to accomplish with Hyrule Magic.

Oh, and did you check to see that by erasing rain and thunder, you didn't erase stuff like stair steps and quakes? Because they use the same samples.

"A-hyuck"?

Anyway, here's the trees as seen the in dark world:

That should be self explanatory.

----

About the thunder, I restored the sound effect to the game as it was shared by many items aswell as the death mountain in the dark world. It should be alright if I keep out the rain sfx however, but I'll see if there's something missing later when I'll playtest the entire hack and in the worst case scenario I'll have to find an alternative to block that sound in the beginning sequence. Thanks for the heads out through. I wouldn't have notice it myself for a long time, that's sure.

This is looking great! (And what does "Uchiha Itachi" mean, BTW, if you don't mind my asking?)

Doesn't that font look nice? But -- and forgive the nitpick -- you ned to add a few pixels of shadow below the top line in 7 and 2, I think.

Love that three-Beamos dungeon!

first of all that soldiers sheild looks phenominal, second, is there anyway to put it on link's sprite himself? or perhaps one similar to it? because this is just . .... just... words cant even describe, just one more thing this is just me and its just my opinion to try n make it seem better, could you change a specific solrier like the lance weailding one to be like a kickass black knight? just to add some variathions between each soldier asside from pallette changes. which bye the way you do that phenominal too i love the faces (possibly make the black knights face pale) this would be a vicious hack, as of right now its only the greatest thing since sliced bread hahah great work man, seems to me the more screen i see the more i want to play this damn thing, but only finished one no demo you hear me!, demo's are evil

Itachi is a character from the anime Naruto broadcasting on TV Tokyo.

For the font changes, I'll consider them since you're the one who gave these to me.

I could put it on Link's body easily. However I'm not sure yet what will be the shields and equipment given to Link.

For the soldiers, there aren't many colors changes available. See:

I already used the palace guard which is in fact the blue one with the hyrule shield. I could use the green one to be the "black knight" and the purple one is in fact the red one. I'll see what I can do in this case.

As for the demo's thing. I don't think I'll do one since I want you guys to play the full thing (and also don't want to lose time for the overall progress).

About that torch thing, if you have light torch to get chest or light torch to open, you'll need 4 torches (they don't have to be in the same small room if layout is 0).

I believe you can't stack the effects of a room header, say you can't put "SW kill enemy to open" then "light torch to open", but you can possibly have light torch to get chest ( i haven't tested this, but i think it'll work)
