| I don't think the constant animation is annoying, but it might slow down some people with shitty computers (such as myself). I thought you were making that layout in your 'Old Zem' profile  At least that's what I noticed you doing last night while I was in online.php  Either way, it does look quite nice  I'm not experiencing any slowdown right now, although I am in newreply.php, and layouts aren't visible there, but when I was viewing your post, I didn't notice any slowdown either  The blockquotes and nested quotes almost look like windows in old versions of Windows  I'd actually expect to see something like that in Nebetsu's layout, but having it in yours is fine as well  It does look pretty good though. | I really like this. The blockquote colors work well.. the whole thing is nifty. Did anything inspire it? The animation is cool. My computer hates having to deal with animations, but this doesn't seem to slow it down that much. (edited by Yoshi Dude on 02-19-05 11:24 PM) |

| Yeah, I was using Old Zem to work on it. Actually, unlike most of my layouts, it was inspired by something: I had a weird dream (like most of my dreams, completely nonsensical), and at one point I was posting on some message board with a highly animated layout with rain pouring down and waves and stuff. This was a long time ago, but yesterday I decided to make the water thing. I couldn't get good-looking rain, but the water looked like it needed a boat bobbing around helplessly in it. So I enlisted my brother to draw one for me in Flash. =D I'm not using it as my layout now because I'm still worried about slowdown: right now it's not slowing down for me either, but it was having problems when I was previewing it with lots of text. So, I don't know. Oh, and the blockquotes were mostly because I wanted to experiment with different CSS shits to figure out how to do the kind of thing Jesper's blockquotes do, with the original poster highlighted and stuff. I don't think mine works the same way his does (I didn't check the source), but it was neat to experiment. |

| Well, it does look very good, but I did have some slowdown when scrolling. But wow, it does look really good. Maybe though if you're worried about slowdown, it can go in as your Bio rather than your layout?? I'm not sure.... ... did I mention it looks really cool? |

| Taryn: Well, half of it is in my bio, working fine. =D And yeah, it slows scrolling for me too. Though it doesn't in my bio, oddly enough. JDavis: your animation isn't tiled repeatedly across a whole side of the post. =( This evidently makes a difference because yours doesn't slow at all for me, while my layout above slows dramatically under some mysterious circumstances. General: Also, now that Karudar's mentioned it, the blockquotes do look too much like old Windows windows. I'll have to come up with some other colors for them if I decide to use that... |
