(I feel like I'm spamming this forum )

Yes, I finally managed to see Princess Mononoke.

My reaction? "Good freaking lord almighty to the 5th power".

I've seen a lot of anime and movies in my time, but I seriously cannot put into words how incredible this movie was. The atmosphere and setting was breathtaking, the music and sound brought chills up and down my body, the style was incredible. Watching this movie was like reliving an experience that the Lord of the Rings and Star Wars movies gave me.

The director, Miyagi is it? He's freaking amazing. After my friends and I watched this movie, we checked out another one of his movies. (Honestly I can't remember the name ... it was Castle something .. , the story about the floating island Laputa?)

That too was such a great movie, even though I'd say it was a bit "childish" at times, it was fantastic.

Princess Mononoke is easily my favorite anime movie, ever, period.

Holy freaking crap, if any of you here haven't seen it yet, you HAVE no idea what you're missing out on. I was instantly bought, I've got to buy this movie myself soon.

MIYAZAKI, not MIYAGI. (Miyagi's the old dude from Karate Kid) I'm sorry, I just had to pick on you there. And the other movie that you're thinking of is Castle in the Sky.

Yea, Mononoke was quite a powerful movie. I saw it like in 2000 and some other times, but I think I should see it again. I liked Castle in the Sky Laputa a little bit better only because I am a bit more partial to Miyazaki's steampunk anime or modern/medieval anime/manga. However, I must say that I wouldn't mind seeing a sequel to Mononoke. It seems a bit unfinished.

Hmm, I guess I could agree with you about the ending.

I was a little sad that the two main characters didn't get to stay together (completely).

(Ah yes, Miayzaki, lol ... sorry about that, at least I didn't make up a name! )

But seriously, Ghost in the Shell? Akira? No comparison to these classics.

I need to check out Spirited Away now.

I can't wait for Fang's Moving Castle...Unless I'm thinking that this = Laputa?

But yes, Miyazaki-san is probably the single best director for anime there is. None of his work has been anything short of genius. Totoro, Nadesico: Valley of the Winds. You name it, it is a shining beacon of great.

Oh my god I love Princess Mononoke. The story is so compelling and really gets you into it with animal spirits. Also, Spirited Away was yet another great movie that I've seen. I haven't seen Castle in the Sky though.

He directed Nadesico? Damnit!

My friend bought the box set of that, and he sold it before we ever finished it.
Maybe the subs more interesting, but really I only got to see half the series.

I borrowed this from a friend pretty long ago. I thought it was great. I could really "feel" the atmosphere in the movie.

Nevermind then ...

I would have been surprised, sure Nadesico seemed decent, just didn't seem to be on par with Miyazaki's other works.

Yeah, I'd be surprised too. That'd be like Satoshi Kon directing a Gundam series. Imagine the horrifying psychological implications of that

lol, miyazaki directing nadesico. Oh Ziff, it's Howl's Moving Castle, not Fang. And there's going to be a sequel. Yea, his works are timeless and almost always deal with humanity and its problems. Also, you might notice a lot of flying and aircraft undertones. ("Freedom of the Skies" if you will) That's because his family supplied parts for fighter craft during WWII. He also has feelings of guilt because of such practices; also seen in his work. And, oh yea, he was also a practicing Marxist. More power to him.

Yep, Mononoke is an amazing film It's wonderful that it got the kinda of treatment it did, and the Acadame should've watched it's ass for this one, but they missed it and felt bad second time around and gave the oscar to Spirited Away instead.

Rock and roll to that one! When I saw it at the Colossus in TO. I was in AWE. I was hoping to see Steam Boy in Imax, but I'm not sure that it will be playing in that format.
