Why not try a few new samples here and there? There's PLENTY of room for it in SPC memory, granted the physical rom location of the SPC sample pointers and intrument data currently prevents the addition of new ones due to other data seeming to come immediately afterwards (STILL can't for the life of me figure out how to repoint this Dx) |

Oh, no, I'm WELL aware of where they are in the RAM ;x 0x3D00 and 0x3E00 respectively....thats in SPC RAM. However, that particular data's location in the ROM is what I've been meaning to repoint ;x since that data's physical location in the ROM is sandwiched between data and therefore is hard to add on to ;x |

Posted by witeasprinwowJust be careful. My Dell laptop has been nothing but problem after problem. I had to replace the motherboard initialy, then the power supply, now it looks like the harddrive might be giving out too (I swear, I've had to reinstall windows at least 5 times and every time, something ends up breaking beyond all repair after I've used the computer once) |

Posted by witeasprinwowGranted, it was somewhat reliable at first and even an okay computer. But no more than a year after was when the motherboard just up and died. Burnt out. No real explanation why, either. And it graciously was NOT covered, casuing me to have to replace it myself. But for good laptops, I've heard many great things about Toshiba brands. Reliable and from what I've heard, affordable.Posted by Keitaro |

Posted by DragOf course that will never happen, because Okibi either doesn't even have the proto or is just stubborn and ridiculous =\ Anyways, glad to see more people feel proto's should be distributed I remember reading the Musrhoom Kingdom article on this ages ago and thinking it was pretty cool. Neat that it's finally available. |

I have a bunch of SML2 and SML3 music I made in SPC form ages ago, if you're interested in using them as well Mattrizzle. Just as long as I get proper credit for the tracks...you'll have to insert one or two extra samples as well, though I can always do that if you aren't sure how I'll try and upload them later just for anyone interested in listening |

Fix the PNG, then show us it. It's very hard to judge graphics when they don't even really look that way... |

It's pretty insightful, and pretty creative. I noticed the problem with ads (not necessarily electronic ones) in Boston CONSTANTLY. And it contributes to litter as well, as you find flyers and old posters and other things blown away, torn down, or what have you. I understand that advertisement is necessary in order for corporations to run, in order for money to be made, and yadda yadda. But really, there reaches a point where advertisement becomes exces. What defines excess is entirely relative, however. |

Posted by drjayphdEXACTLY. The proto doesn't loose its value just because the ROM is distributed freely. When I bought Final Fantasy VI (well, III since I got the SNES version) a few years ago, it was priced pretty hefty--in fact, more than I paid for the damn SNES (used, it was 32 bucks, the game was around 60, I THINK. Can't really remember, it was pricey though). My point is that game was still pricey because its a very sought after game for oldschool gamers/collectors. The fact that anyone can just download the ROM of that game wasn't going to make these people lower the price. And its the same with these protos, their collector's value is still there, since anyone can get the ROM but only so many people can say they have the cartridge itself. And really, when you just hoard the ROM, its like drjay said, nut flexing ;x |

NetSplit, I understand people spend tons of money on these and may hope to get it back one day by reselling it. But isn't that then being selfish? True, no one is entitled to it, but hoarding it is only keeping a part of gaming history from being documented and discovered, and for what? S some collector can make a quick buck by selling it back? If they need to sell it back for the money that badly, they shouldn't have spent it on the damn thing in the first place. Typically, I don't buy something with the intention of selling it back at a later price. That's pretty foolish. If I buy something, I usualy plan on keeping it and don't get butthurt if the value goes down as a result of it. And if I payed a metric fuckton of money for a proto, I wouldn't give half a shit. Because I would release the ROM of it. And I wouldn't get all OHNOE, NOW I CANT SELL IT BACK THUS DEFEATING THE PURPOSE OF ME EVER OWNING IT IN THE FIRST PLAEC
Really, I can understand your points but when it all comes down to it, there's really just a lot of selfishness going on and even more egotripping in the vast VAST majority of collectors. No one is entitled to the game, but in this particular context/situation, it's like saying dying children with cancer aren't entitled to a cure. It'd still be nice to help them out. |

Yeah, my host recently dropped off the face of the internet which led to him not paying his bills--in other words, I would have had those songs up much sooner anyways, I'm hoping to get them up at some point tonight. Sorry for the inconvenience =\
As for me making my own SML2/3 patch? Probably not. But the songs are there for anyone who knows what they are doing to use. *shrug* |

Um, posting what? I said I was going to post the SPCs soon but I ran in to some uploading issues as stated. Just bear with me, I'll get you them =\ as for reasons I'm not creating a patch, I just don't feel like its necessary. If someone wants to use my music in their hack, great, then go ahead. But I'm not going to do it for you.. (I originally made the SPCs for my own enjoyment, so) |
