This website was blocked by whatever filtering software they had. Reason given was: Aiding Criminal Activities.

Guess what wasn't blocked...

You didn't guess, therefore your answer is invalidated.

yeah, he guessed. well IMO anyway.

www.romHACKING.net exactly matches the capitalization pattern I was thinking of. Therefore it only seems likely that YD possesses telepathy and this is therefore not a guess. foo.

DY/YD I forbid you from posting in my threads anymore. You just don't get them. Like that one a long time ago about the giant smiley face constructed from boom boom gifs. You ruined that thread too.

Here's a trivia from a while back: who was the user that would always get pissed at people and tell them to "get out of my fucking thread!". Hint, it wasn't me.

And some of them are really fucking stupid. Others can be answered by a trip to Google.

It amazes me how you are periodically unbanned in spite of being a flaming asshole. There are politer ways of chiding people. Either that or we go to an approval system.

On an related note, is it just me or has the quality of this rom hacking forum gone down quite a bit?

ok i see the point, but stupidly hard is the theme of this hack.
a later version may have a better curve of difficulty though.

stupidly hard = not interesting to most people. what happened to fun and enjoyable? if I can't play it on my SNES without savestates and have any reasonable chance of beating it I'm not really interested, and most people here will tell you the same. Look at Parallel Worlds, look at all the other Super Metroid hacks that require ridiculous savestate abuse. Don't you think they'd be more popular if they were more accessible?

I think a lot of people forget that Super Metroid is not a very hard game in and of itself. Even a small to moderate increase in challenge would probably be invigorating to most veterans (read: not interested in savestate abuse, TAS tricks).

I just think a lot of people making rom hacks go way overboard when it comes to making challenging hacks. (evidenced by the prolific SMW hacking scene).

powerlevels are dumb, make a system of groups with specific permission bits for each. Much more flexible.

agreed. power levels are not a very flexible idea unless you have a rigid staff hierarchy and that's all you'll ever want to have. (which is what this board has, but that's not what everyone wants out of board software)

When you want to provide a forum that only certain people can use. Obvious example is the romhacker approval system we used to have. In that case you'd just designate a new permission for that and for the users you wish to grant access check that flag. Sometimes people want a hidden forum no one else can see (say for a beta test of a rom hack or some other kind of project.)

Also might make banning more flexible. If you ban someone in our system, they lose all their power level (-1), but in a flag system you simply uncheck the "banned" flag and they're back to whatever permissions they had before (if so desired). Or consider if the board gets hacked and someone starts banning people. All their power levels will be at -1 and it will be a lot harder mess to clean up than if you had a permissions system. (It means they'd have to SQL inject and hack more than just a number, for one thing)

It's an endearing romantic comedy that showcases the versatility of the two lead actors.

If you don't already know what MoonEdit is, go to http://www.moonedit.com. Jokingly referred to as multi-player notepad, it can be use to collaborate on projects in real time that would normally require the shuttling back and forth of copies of documents on your local computer.

The server is located at IP http://213.239.193.176, using port 6918. You don't need the http for the server address in MoonEdit, afaik.

Attention everyone. The idea of this thread was taken from a Simpsons episode. Fortunately this episode happened to air a few days ago as a rerun, so I was able to spot this blatantly lifted content. So a warning to you all. Alastor is a plagiarist, a lying scofflaw, and generally speaking a corrupter of mankind.

It is nice, I'm just not digging the green :<

And that on the front page the green bars obscure the "thread" text and such.
