Yeah, real standard.

And I know HTML. The whole point of BBCode is to avoid using HTML.

If you can read ASM, great. If not, you still might be able to glean enough information on how to do this from the document.

Basically it goes like this, you probably overwrote some tile or tiles with a very specific character (CHR) value. All you have to do to fix it is figure out what the proper CHR value is to warp to the Master Sword area. But I must emphasize that it is a combo of CHR value *and* the current area you're in that triggers.

So to fix the CHR problem, you'll have to find an unused Map16 tile and set one of its 8x8 tiles to tile number 0x105. (In decimal that's 261, I think Hyrule Magic uses decimal). Flip and palette don't matter, just the CHR value, though you'll probably want it to blend in, mostly. Iirc the original tile that warped you was a part of the log. *checks* yeah it is, right at the point where the log meets the green stuffs.

Illustrative screenshot:

By the way, if any of you ever design your own video game, don't design a warping system like this. It's flat out retarded.

Nice idea but I'd probably just prerotate my sprites if I didn't have the hardware wherewithal to do it. Course, doing it at run time and buffering it in RAM would save greatly on ROM space, effectively becoming compression.

Given that the integers (e.g. post numbers) are not dense in themselves, surely there must be a limit to how long a decline can continue happening.

Um... unless I'm missing something here, the integers are dense in themselves.

http://mathworld.wolfram.com/Dense.html

The integers have no limit points when regarded as a subset of itself with the typical metric. So...

Adding mathfagging to forum drama ftw.

edit: I think I messed up a tad. The limit points of the integers probably have to be defined in terms of another super set, like the reals. In any case, the limit points of in would consist of , and is still

This community is stagnant due to... whatever reason. No one I care to talk to much comes here anymore, and sorry but the newer users just don't interest me much. Maybe its the lack of womenz. (Real womenz). I dunno, I'm not the forum whisperer.

I'm an avid IRC user, but I'm not a huge fan of the board2 IRC channel, assuming that the one I've periodically visited over the years was the right one. IMO, and this is just an opinion, IRC is a huge drag on board activity. For a long time here, posting really hasn't been encouraged, if you ask me. Too much got labeled as spam whereas in previous board incarnations it would just be people fucking around and having fun. Does the board even have a posting ranking anymore (ACS it used to be called)? I feel like maybe things have relaxed a bit but the posting environment a year or two ago was stifling.

And yes there are women on the internet, but most probably wouldn't admit it b/c we men are lustful dickheads on average and TITS OR GTFO trolls at worst.

Kinda funny, but the schtick gets a little old. Reminds me of this but slightly funnier. Maybe you gotta be a bit more urban than I am to appreciate it more?

Just a quick perusal of the # of new posts per day over the past 3 years indicates stagnation to me. If you take into account population growth over that time, it could actually be considered a net loss in average posting, depending on how you crunched the numbers. Population inflation devalues post currency or some junk like that.

Do I have any solutions for you? I'm afraid not. But it's laughable to me that you have people worried about spam when you're averaging less than 100 posts a day. I'm pretty sure I made a statement similar to this a couple years ago at some point. If it's all crap then it's all crap. How can you really discern good posting from crap with such low activity anyways? As long as people aren't posting porn and trolling each other hard core who really gives a shit unless you've got 500+ posts of it to wade through as a moderator.

It just seems like something's wrong with this board but I can't quite put my finger on it. Perhaps its the lack of bright colors, or the lack of new features or aesthetics that Jul has. I'm sure there's not one all encompassing answer.

And yet, it seems like there must be some kind of common-sense limit to that approach. Essentially, it could be said that ||board tried it; what it resulted in was a hard core of users with peculiar notions of what is fun leaving their marks on every single section and conversation thread until nobody but themselves was left, subsequently losing interest and leaving the forum to wither.

I can't say I agree with you on this at all. ||board devolved into a troll fest very quickly due to a total lack of enforcing any rules. I gave up and started trolling too because what else was there to do? There were not any consequences to bad behavior.

But there's a difference between enforcing rules and being overbearing. And it's not a very subtle difference.

edit: Tons of threads get trashed over time, but why was this one not? Seems incongruous to me.

@Nick

Well I'll concede the point that IRC activity may not correlate with board activity at all. The thing with ||board was that it still looked like the old acmlm's board, but in reality was nothing like it. It was #nobodysworld but in board form, as you say.

The point I'm more trying to make about IRC is that when your staff seems more interested in IRC than promoting board activity of whatever sort*, don't expect a lot of board activity.

* development, events, actually posting of their own accord in not in response

I don't think forum posting is going anywhere in the long term but I suppose it has been supplanted somewhat by the quickfire responses of facebook / twitter. Forum posting is generally only efficient when you have many people on several timezones around the world trying to communicate publicly. Perhaps people have gotten too impatient to wait for others to actually respond to forum posts anymore.

Also, does anyone here hack SMW?

Edit: Your example of KP9000 is somewhat suspect... (not because he isn't 'cool', but due to recent events that I'm sure no one has forgotten...)

What recent events?
