Long time no see ghillie! To answer your questions...
''Do the graphics that I've replaced look buggy?'' They look great, I especially like when Link is grabing objects. The fact that the sprite is 2px off don't change the fact it looks refreshing and surprisingly an effective eye candy. ''Is this something I should continue work on?'' You really should, great work so far! I'd certainly have a proper and fitting use for your finished sprite... it could be used in Parallel Universes to replace the main hero...Then I would replace the Zelda sprite by the current Link sprite I'm using and then... One Link from one universe goes rescuing/helping another Link from another universe! Hilarity dialog lines ensues! Either way, good work keep at it! ____________________ http://parallelsequel.wordpress.com/ |

You have my benediction!
One think through. If I do recall the hack was pretty unstable moments before the release. The rom would corrupt many times over if any changes were made. I recall when doing PW 2.0 I had to use a much older rom version to do the dungeons So ya, good luck with the project... if someone can manage it I'm thinking it's you! ____________________ http://parallelsequel.wordpress.com/ |

Posted by ghillie I'm gonna agree that Link original graphics sheet can be much confusing. Maybe by comparing the original game, your sprite hack and these released hacks below you'll figure it out ____________________ http://parallelsequel.wordpress.com/ |

My birthday is only in august.... those gotta be the best presents I got in advance! These tools will be great additions to Hyrule and Black Magic.
I've tried the ''hud'' editor (bottle).. and created this in minutes! It's easy to use aswell. I've got a question through. Do you know if the author plans to update it? Since some tiles seems to be hardcoded (the hearts, numbers and the magic bar). Otherwise good job to both of you! Zelda 3 needs more dedicated hackers everyday! Can't wait to tinker with custom sprites either! ____________________ http://parallelsequel.wordpress.com/ |

Posted by Spane This is looking really nice so far! Keep it up!! I for one know how hard it is to edit dungeon graphics! Not as user friendly as the overworld, since if you try to change the block types, HM won't save the values... maybe there's a way in hex to change those though. But as the case of HM it would probably still read the old values. For now were stuck trying to fit everything using the right block types. Block types 0/231: ...lots of duplicates it seems! 00 > Can walk over or under it (Depending on the setting "In front" which is on or off). 01 > Solid (01 or 02 can't remember, one of them the arrows can go through, the other they can't) 02 > Solid (01 or 02 can't remember, one of them the arrows can go through, the other they can't) 03 > Solid (Unknown properties) 04 > Walking in grass 05 > Same as 00 06 > Same as 00 07 > Same as 00 08 > Deep water 09 > Light water (which you can walk on) 10 > Same as 00 11 > Same as 00 12 > Same as 00 13 > Hurts as you walk on it 14 > Slippery floor SLOWWW.. It could lead to brand new possibilities if one could edit the dungeon block types values to new ones! ____________________ http://parallelsequel.wordpress.com/ |

Posted by wiiqwertyuiopWell that could be useful in case I decide to make another zelda 3 hack.. say when I'll hit the eighties... assuming I'll eventually lose contact with Euclid and all the other ASM genius I've encountered so far! But still it could be helpful to other zelda 3 hackers who intent on making their hacks stand out with their very own identities! ____________________ http://parallelsequel.wordpress.com/ |

Yeah I'm sure Puzzledude could lend a hand in that mather
Since you asked about the pushable graves in a pm, here they are for everyone's own content. I finally re-found those notes along a few others.. They could be best described as ''Euclid's teachings vol I'' ! A few years back the creator of Dodongo's Gold, NEONswift had like I tried to have Euclid's asm blessing. NEONswift not only have created another brand new zelda hack but also created the two layers for overworld asm hack.. along the areas names! So he figured out asm more then I could ever do in the last eight years! GRAVEYARD HEX record down the values next to (Push Grave to work out co-ords) 7E0020, C0 7E0021, 04 7E0022, 47 7E0023. 02 those are the x and y coordinates of the grave. 25,11 original pos and yours is 4, 11 ok that's just -21 in the x pos. yyyy yyxx xxxx <-- i think that's the format... ------------------------------------------------------- the first 2 is the x and y position (7E0020-23) which you've got earlier. the 3rd one is 0592 05B2 that's what the value is already in the rom for the stair in Area 14. 0592 left of where the original is suppose to be located x, y = 05, 92 anyway 4th value = 3rd value - 0x80 so in this case it would be 0512 7E0020, C0 7E0021, 04 7E0022, 47 7E0023. 02 05 92 05 12 jump to hex offset 0x49B46 you should see C0 04, you should replace it with the values in 7E0020, then 7E0021. which just happens to be C0 04 then jump to 0x49B64 you should see 90 09, you should replace it with what you see in 7E0022 replacing the last digit with 0 and then 7E0023 for the 09. ok this third one, at 0x49BBE you should see B2 05, insert that new one... 92 05. ok last one, at 0x46FD9, should see 32 05, put 12 05. btw the values for the hole one is like right after every single one of the stairs offset with the exception of the 4th value. 0x46FE0, a bit after the other 4th value. No use of Peg. Boots on Gravestone: 0x49C42 change from D0 to 80 ____________________ http://parallelsequel.wordpress.com/ |

I really like the new progress! That's funny... I never though about using Parallel Worlds graphics to revamp my older hacks! Still, it looks more like a sequel then my own hack XD, so provided you're not too harsh to the player with your puzzles, I'm confident it can't fail! ____________________ http://parallelsequel.wordpress.com/ |

About the overlays for Gates of Darkness, I'm pretty sure it's more Euclid's doing then me! If I do recall correctly he helped me alot with that hack before I decided to overhaul his own hack... Tower of The Triforce!!
About that overlay patch.. it would really be useful! In fact I totally forgot LTTP overworlds had overlays ! I have yet to add any in my overworld, go figure . The fade-outs on every area can be helpful too. Setting two completely different gfx sets between two areas without glitches is an improvement. The code for setting the rain and the death mountain red flashes could be helpful too. Especially if one decides to modify the graphics of those and change them to brand new effects (eg. snow like in pw) and add them in specific areas only! ____________________ http://parallelsequel.wordpress.com/ |

Many thanks for all this! I've saved the info for later use or in case I decide to update my zelda 3 rom hacking pdf faq I released a while back!
Spane send me this valuable and much needed information by e-mail but I thought it might be useful to everyone else wanting to making their dungeons stand out more! Posted by "Spane" Now time to go try out all these 231 block types individually! Block types 0/231: ...needless to say, lots of duplicates 00 > Can walk over or under it (Depending on the setting "In front" which is on or off). You're on the right path with building your overworld! If you want a good tip to finish the remaining areas... well draw directly on the map a basic layout of what your overworld will look. For exemple here's the maps I've made before working on the Tower of The Triforce overworlds!
Draw lands, rivers, forests in a basic way. It'll actually save you time when you build your areas. As you can see some areas didn't made it in the final hack, but many still did! ____________________ http://parallelsequel.wordpress.com/ |

I wouldn't mind helping out with the graphics by all means. Since most dungeon layouts will remain the same, editing static graphics could be easy enough using YY-CHR! But I have no idea if it's possible to change graphics palettes in hex... is there a way? ____________________ http://parallelsequel.wordpress.com/ |

Posted by puzzledudeA great thing includes that if you were to use ''NEONswift's 2-layers-for-overworlds'' hack, it would allow you to use another layer for your overworlds. Nevertheless, keep it up! ____________________ http://parallelsequel.wordpress.com/ |

I know an effective way to find the remaining frames. When you don't know what a specific tile is used for, edit it's gfx to be a colored square instead. For exemple:
Then go play the game and try out ALL your items (book of mudora, shovel), use all your abilities (running, grabbing rocks etc..), while finding what they are used for! I'll try and see if I can find some myself! ____________________ http://parallelsequel.wordpress.com/ |

Yeah I can recognize it... but that's only because I can see a door frame hiding behind it
I started a graphical list of all objects types in the game. I know many of them are duplicates but certain tiles are key specific to special events. All block types - Extended Feel free to expend it if you like! I've already remade all my dungeon tilesets... all thanks to your amazing discovery on how to change the dungeon blocktypes in hex!
