The graphics look rather impressive, though you should perhaps try to aim for a more homogeneous graphical style.

Yeah I know that, many graphics clash with each other right now, I don't really mind as it's still a work in progress that I keep updating as I go, it's far from perfect but if you look at earlier screens from a year ago you'll see that it's slowly but surely taking shape.

Here's a new area I've made after watching just about too much Fringe episodes... It's safe to say Googie should be pleased since he asked about something similar a while back
Posted by Googie
I don't remember if I asked this before SePH my bad if I did. What state will that city take place in, New York? If it were maybe you could add The Unisphere and/or Terrace on the park. Keep up the kick ass work man, it's kewl...

That's no Unisphere or Terrace on the park through, but those towers and zeppelin sure are a good trade! Not really sure if that's where the statue of Liberty is through, but that's where it's going to be in that universe lol

Sorry about that. Have you ever played the Illusion of Gaia, because that's where the inspiration came from. Effecticely, there's a treasure chest hidden up there with the master key where gazes meet.

Edit: I'm in a good mood, so here's a little something from The Puppeteer.
[

The area still needs some new graphics, but its just a little taste of what I have in store. And the dungeon inside Castle Midnight. I won't drop any pictures yet, but I will say its amazing.

I really like the scale of that castle.. it reminds me of Assassin's Creed for some reason. Keep it up, hard work with Hyrule Magic always pays up when you don't give up. A few gfx fixes there and there and you're all set.

Spiritual sequel to Zelda Parallel Worlds, this is Link Parallel Universes, an
hack which I've been working on for at least two years! The demo is relatively
short, no events are in the game yet, no dungeons were created neither, what
you'll be able to play will be segments of some overworld areas. The modern
world and the rift aren't in the demo, the rest is left untouched.

To be able to visit the multiple areas, I've included a *.srm file of the hack
which gives you the flute. You should put this file in the same directory as
your rom when patched and have the same name.. for exemple:

''Link - Parallel Universes Demo v0.3.srm''

''Link - Parallel Universes Demo v0.3.smc''

Otherwise you'll be stuck on the wastelands. When the rift will be done it
will be a gateway to all the different universes, until then, use the flute!

Thanks puzzledude! It's kinda funny that I tried Lunar Magic a while back before I started hacking Zelda 3 and found it much harder then Hyrule Magic, to each his own I guess

@blackhole89: Much like the overworlds, I'm planning to change the perspective of the dungeons aswell. All the graphics will be changed to something new, nothing from Zelda 3 will be spared. I'll start doing the new dungeons and it's graphics once the overworld is completed which should be in a mather of months or by the end of the year if I don't spend too much time on the overworld and it's graphics!

Is it going to be less psychotically hard for those of us mere mortals compared to Parallel Worlds?
You can count on that. The mere purpose of this hack is to make it as enjoyable and interesting as possible for those who played PW and found it too much tedious. I may even say it's going to be as easy as the original Zelda 3. Those who managed to finish Parallel Worlds will find the sequel to be a walk in the park in comparison! I'm pretty sure you won't need to know all the glitches and tricks that Parallel Worlds required you to do in several dungeons (for exemple bomb jumping etc..).

Posted by Ice Penguin
SePH, this looks amazing. I really look forward to your dungeon designs!
As I long to actually make them. Can't wait to start them actually and see what new life I can bring in them. But as methodical as I am, I'll finish the overworlds first then think about the 255+ rooms that I'm going to make later!

For the original (U) [!] rom that would be 1 048 576 bytes and once patched, 3 670 528 bytes.

This rooms were all a copy from
Shards of Might, so I decided to make an overhaul.

Most rooms were copies of the rooms of Shards of Might game, the lack
of sprites and normal gameplay could be sensed.

That's quite the contrary. When I stopped working on Gates of Darkness, it's content, instead of keeping being unused, was litteraly ported over Shards of Might. So overall you can say Shards of Might is combination of some rooms in Gates of Darkness and some dungeons that were unused in ''Dark Prophecy'' (still to be released and I wonder were the authors went) which were made by Dude Man and Omega.

Good luck with finishing what I started! As much as I liked creating what I've done, I hated doing dungeons so much back then that instead of finishing a hack all by myself, I joined forces with Euclid and revamped his Tower of The Triforce hack (which later bacame the Parallel Worlds we all know of).

It really is incredible what you did with the dungeon graphics. I was also working on some Z3 dungeons, but I usually edit the gameplay and the rooms. I've never imagined that the indoor graphics could be changed so much.

Yeah me neither! Ever since I found out HM let's you save the dungeon tile settings, I've lost countless hours of sleep due to always finding new ways to improve the damn graphics!!

Posted by puzzledude
PS Nice work with the remodeled Rocklops, that was changed into a robot (in one of your previous videos).
Thanks, even through I didn't made those, inserting them into the game was actually quite a pain... I hate how the Zelda 3 spritesets work.

Posted by InvisibleCoinBlock
Man, that looks nice!

I've been wanting to start a Z3 hack for ever but I probably won't because I hate Hyrule Magic and it seems like Mathonnapkins has stopped working on Black Magic.
You might be right in hating HM, everybody does! It has quite a learning curve and always screws up your rom one way or another even if you're careful. Still I wish more people would dare hacking the game even so, because making rom backups can take care of 99% of the problems out there.

Anyhow.. I've work some more on the sky temple:

Is the hookshot invisible, or is that a youtube framerate issue?

That's a known issue like a few, I might have overwritten some graphics, I don't know what I did but I'll figure it out in due time. It's not stoping me from making any progress let's say.

Speaking of which, some progress!

Here's the lobby of a casino which I'm working on:

Did zelda 3 dungeons ever looked better?

Blasphemy! What is this??! Another hack of an hack? Those graphics just aren't familiar, they are the same as seen in Parallel Worlds down to every pixel. Didn't though I'd catch ya! Just joking, do whatever you want with those graphics, keep in mind is that I didn't created those in the first place! Tone down the difficulty and it'll be even greater hack then that of Parallel Worlds! I kinda like what I've seen so far, keep it up!.

It's interesting that you went with Gates of ''Time'' instead of ''Darkness''. Nonetheless, after seeing how well you handled finishing Shards of Might... I'm pretty sure this newer hack of yours will be even better. I mean.. each time I started a new Zelda 3 hack, I got new skills and found better ways to do things. I'm also certain everyone who works with Hyrule Magic for many never-ending long days eventually get a thing or two up their sleeves they either share or keep! Either way keep at it, this game still needs dedication, even if it's a 20 years old one!

Anyone can do what they want with these three hacks, I highly doubt I'll ever finish them myself or go back to them.... Sorry folks! One hack at a time is all I can do.

But on topic of the continuation/use of any of my released useless z3 projects to make new projects, I have absolutely no objections. Be it Lyra Islands, Gates of Darkness, Shards of Might... in an unplayed, unfinished form they are pretty much useless.. but if anyone came back to pick them up... then surely something can come up of it. By comparing those hacks with the original Zelda 3 game, they can truely understand how the game works out.

Regarding the limited title screen gfx space. I did come up with something great using the graphic shemes editor in the other version of HM released... If you go to the graphic shemes, change the main blockset value to 35 and the room blockset to 81. Doesn't these gfx ring a bell? Now open up the title screen editor and there you go, the same graphic sets.

How the original game is set:

Then here's mine:

The overall space it all takes:

And the end result:

There's also some more work involved afterward. Like creating another main blockset and room blockset for the objects used in those we just changed. But there's nothing the graphic shemes doesn't let you change...

I didn't know about the naming screen being moved but I do know I've recalled sending the hack to Euclid a few times for ''random rom related glitch repairs'' so that might have something to do with it.
