For some reason Zelda doesn't seem to appear in the room she should be.. if you're using zsnes, try to open theses saves and it should skip the saving zelda intro thing allowing you to at least visit other places...

Been quite a while... here's some more screens of Parallel Universes as progress slowly goes forward.. Some are new while others slightly updated:
I've started recreating the whole overworld not too long ago, decided I'd make it a sequel to Parallel Worlds instead of that Earth idea (yeah I change ideas quite often). I didn't played much with the editor yet.. But when I found out that the ini files of it's map editor could be easily translatable, I couldn't resist

''sdk2editor\sdk2_mapedit\pl_171\Languages'', then load the editor and when I did it loads it should load english by default, if it don't go in ''Help'', then ''About'' and change it from there. Have fun, now if someone could find a way to translate the exe file, that'd be even more easier! Actually after some digging, the actual link from this site http://www.hyperdevice.net/ seem to have an english version aswell unlike the bundled link above, oh well false alarm! I reworked a bit more on the buildings, changed the grass color, added a few new things and of course some car variations.. Also made the interface look a bit more futuristic... Anyway, more later

Well what's this? That's pretty much all the progress I've been able to made since January 09... It pretty much started like this:
At first I simply wanted to have cars then slowly I kept on adding new things such as roads, buildings and sprites: But then it wasn't enough, it had to be the followup to an older hack... So thanks to MathOnNapkins the choice was quite simple but efficient: Althrough, not inserted into the rom yet.. since I might change it and I hate editing title screens so yeah :/ Anyway, here's previously shown screens, mostly what you'll see while you play it but since playing and seeing isn't the same thing I'll let you guys/gals be the judge of the good- bad- and ugly- of the hack per see. What do you mean about the broken door? That they don't open when you exit them (and show off somewhere else) or their appearance? If it's the first then those will be fixed in hex only when all entrances will be set.
And yeah let's say I didn't put borders between finished/unfinished places... About the lack of colors I'm aware of that. I plan to have as many types of vehicles as possible along with their suiting palettes... that's the same problem I have with buildings actually, they all look like they were all made by the same builders. ____________________ http://parallelsequel.wordpress.com/ |

Thanks to an old unused ASM hack by NEONswift for Zelda 3, I was able to make my modern hack even better. The dark world is now used for a second layer for the light world. Meaning that objects can now go over each other in a more efficient way. I was even able to add shadows that cast over many gfx tiles without having to edit them all. The only bad thing with this ASM hack that I can think of is that the dark world instantly becomes useless because it's now just another layer. But that also means, I now have the dark world gfx sets at my disposal for the light world which in turn means a more rich and decorated world. Remember that since the hack is about Parallel Universes it has to have at least multiple worlds... Well I'll just have to make smaller worlds and probably a shorter hack aswell. Anyway here's some updated screens since I released that build..

I've checked it from the insides of Hyrule Magic and so far some areas reminds me of Dark Prophecy, Tower of The Triforce (before I started editing it) and Gates of Darkness (and old hack I never got around to finish).. I'll give this a good try when I get more time tonight or tommorow.. Well life's life I guess.. We grow and sometimes no mather what we change despite wanting to... and more responsabilities. For me romhacking has always had it's share of up and downs. But in the end I realized that I'll die someday (don't we all do) and I might as well leave something behind while I'm at it that'll might be played even after I'm dead.. and in a way that kept me motivated towards finishing something for once, but yeah that's me.

Indeed.. I'm using an asm hack NEONswift made a while back. The dark world acts as a second layer for the light world. The wasteland itself is the light world as we know it. It's where monsters will naturaly act as their mutants counterparts.. and also explain why the frell the cars don't move!
I'm probably going to use a few dark world areas for one event (the one in which you get teleported to the other world after fighting agahnim)... Those dark world areas might be less detailed, but I'll see what I can do to make them better... like a rift between realities or something.. that's where you'll see things that are surreal compared to the rest of the world. ____________________ http://parallelsequel.wordpress.com/ |
