I prefer Toad Man. Toad Man is cool looking, but he is too easy in MM4. You could make him harder, and give him some new attacks to make him way more fun to fight.

I don't know if any of you guys ever saw those fake pics of MMX9, but they are pretty cool, and MMX9 should continue the retro pattern that Capcom is doing.

Hey Matrixz, now that the names of the robot masters from Megaman 10 have been revealed, do you plan on keeping the name "Solar Man?"

I was also thinking that because the stage he is located in has trees, grass, caves, and is very nature-like in general, that maybe you could call him Earth Man. Earth, not in the sense that it is planet Earth, but the fact that it represents the nature you have in that stage.

It seems that Capcom is taking all four Mega Man Zero games and putting them into one DS chip. It's scheduled to be released in Japan this April, but I'm sure it will get released eventually in the other countries as well. There is a video on the page.

http://gamekyo.com/videoen16105_megaman-zero-collection-a-new-video.html

I only have MMZ3, so I might pick this up if gets released here in the US.

Just posting this incase you were interested and didn't know about it. Apparently the news about this was released a few days ago, but this video link was put up today.

Nice. Looking forward to seeing what you do. You made all of those sprites yourself? They're really good.

I give KP9000 credit for trying though. Sure people are lazy, and anyone could do what he did, but if no one else has done it, and KP is willing to put the effort in to making it look really nice and "collectible-looking", you never know. Maybe there is some die-hard retro-Zelda fan out there that would buy it. But I don't think he'd get very much.

If you could make a little more than the money it took to have it printed, photoshopped in high quality, laminated, then I'd say it was worth it.

It's actually not a bad idea KP. Keep up the good work.

would obviously receive the actual level editor for MMU2.
Are you using a special editor that you or someone else coded, or are you using a modified version of MegaFLE X? Just curious.

I don't have a problem with any of the bosses you have there, but I was hoping to see at least 1 or 2 all-new original bosses of your own. I know you have the talent and skills to do that, but this is your hack, and you're free to do what you want.

As for assistance, I wouldn't mind really, but I haven't ROM hacked in a very long time, mostly due to lack of time (too much real life stuff I'm dealing with), and whevenever I have the urge to hack, I suffer from a lack of inspiration and motivation. And if I hack again, I want to work on something of my own. I can contribute ideas, and maybe help with some ASM stuff, but that's about it. If I have any ideas or level design ideas that I think would be great for your hack, I will PM them to you.

I wish you luck with your project.

What exactly is custom about it? I know that you converted the MM4 ROM so that it makes use of CHR-ROM instead of it being completely PRG-ROM. I think that is pretty cool, and I'm guessing that took a bit of work to do. I'm assuming that for the most part, the custom editor takes advantage of expanded ROMs, and different locations where levels, sprites, and other data may be stored.

I haven't played the game, but people have already uploaded all of the videos of the playthough on YouTube.

I watched most of them. From what I saw:

The levels look horrible, to be honest with you. They just don't have any kick to them. They look bland and very repetitive. And they lack a lot of detail. They use the same structures over and over. The levels in Megaman 9 looked a lot better than these levels. It really sounds like they just threw this game together.

The story looks awful too. And Solar Man, Matrixz' Solar Man stage looks a lot better than that crap. "Solar" usually relates to the sun, and there is nothing "daylight" about that stage. It is a more bland version of Magma Man's stage, and those jumping flames that go from tube to tube just don't look that impressive. Some of the graphics look like shit, despite the fact that it is an 8-bit game. The purple/light blue junk ground in the first Wily stage looks like shit.

Megaman 9 looks a lot better.

I don't know if it is completely fair for me to judge this game or not from just watching someone's complete high quality video walkthrough, but the game doesn't look that great. They could have done better.

Honestly, Matrixz', infidelity's, and Kuja Killer's ROM hacks look a lot better than this game.

Who the hell would play a Mega Man game for the story?
You have a good point here. Megaman is the kind of game you can play without worrying about the story. But if you're going to add a story, try to make it a little good. Whether it had a story or not, I was just saying that the thrown-in story was pretty lame, that is all.

Posted by PU206C
Megaman 3 didnt have ANY story at all, at last in-game
Well, it had a small story (the bits about Protoman, Breakman, Gamma), but you're right that for the most part, the game didn't have a big story, and it didn't have any impact on the gameplay. The game was fun. As I said above, whether it had a story or not, I was just stating that the story they used wasn't that great.

Sorry, but I completely and utterly one hundred and ten percent disagree with your post, Retro, except for the obvious golden child ROM hackers' projects looking better and that bit about the story.
That's cool man. You can disagree if you want.

As I said before, it's probably not fair for me to completely judge this game by watching it be played in it's entirety on YouTube.

The music of the game is great. I have no problems with that.

I just think they slacked a little bit with the robot bosses, levels and graphics this time around. I think Pump Man's stage is a good example. That black background doesn't do anything for it, and it uses the same enemies and level structures over and over.

With all of this talk of Megaman lately, I couldn't wait to show off my hack. Now it's my turn.

Introducing Mega Man Nemesis. I've been working on this hack since February. It's only 15% done, but I've been working hard on it whenever I get the chance.

Plot Synopsis: Megaman is sent to investigate a disturbance located on a remote island where one of Dr. Wily's fortresses is located. But when Megaman draws closer to Wily, he is forced to set a game into motion, and Dr. Wily's grand scheme is finally understood.

A few screens of Frog Man's stage.

I reprogrammed the Spin Wheel for this hack, and not only does it work better than it did last time, it also uses all 3 frames from Megaman Xtreme!

Zelda 2 House Basement and the Speed Burner. The Speed Burner needs a little bit more work, but I've recently decided that I might replace it with something else.

The Wizard from Zelda 2 will give you the Spin Wheel you will need to break down the wall behind him. I still have yet to code the dialogue box, but that is coming soon!

Hmmm. A heart. I wonder what it is for???

This is a beach level I just recently started working on. I got inspired to make a beach level when I was going for a walk on Monday to the beach. I love the summer time, and I love the beach, so I thought why not add something that I like to my hack?

Special thanks to Matrixz for his help. He helped clear up a lot of things, and showed me how Megaman 4's data works a little bit. With that information, I am able to do what I want on this hack.

I may have a video sometime in June. We'll see.

I'm glad you guys like it. I am off from work today, so I will be working hard on my hack.

I did some polishing up on the graphics.

This is Frog Man by the way. He is an upgrade from Toad Man, and has different attacks.

I added a black outline on the top of the rock-ground in the water and fixed the palette a little bit. Next I will be adding rain to the beginning of this stage. But it won't be palette-changing rain. It will be a mixture of background rain and sprite rain. You'll see.

I decided to use the Zelda 2 cave graphics for Frog Man's cave. It adds a little bit more nostalgia to the level.

Minor edits. I got rid of the black line, and the water is slightly different. I plan on adding beach umbrellas, and those scorpions that come out of the ground.

The three bosses that I have planned already:

Frog Man - my own creation
Wire Sponge
Horse Head from Zelda II
