Perhaps we should just spawn a few more spinoffs, that seems to be the hip thing to do.

GameFAQs had a few more dozen spinoffs, and now...they're all dead.

You basically put a situation that makes it tyranny vs oligarchy. Not the best of choices imo.

I can't pinpoint the ideal system that I would want. I'd have a system where the users get to say what happens on a board. Democracies have proven to be failures. I don't know how an anarchy would turn out. Looking at wikipedia, Meritocracy sounds more or less what I had in mind. The staff positions should only exist to provide narrow duties; that is, more or less keep order to the place; administrators should be the highly-trusted members that appoint other staff members (though this description doesn't accurately portray the real situation people want), or settle disputes in the manner a board is run. Other than that, they're regular people, and should be viewed as such except for some very special (and obvious) occasions.

(following is the first post I've made in the thread that actually deals with a merger, who knew)

I don't really care weather or not the boards are merged, but it'll probably end up with more work than anyone's going to bother with the databases being merged. If it happens, we'll probably just have a boardhole archive on board.acmlm.org and just post (register if needed) on ||board as it exists now. If the majority of you want a merger, the remaining that object to it will probably just go join Justus 2 anyway (hell, there's already quite a few users moved to Justus 2).

||bass doesn't mind a merge, but we've been talking about the technical side. Given the fact that this is still using the primitive Acmlmboard 1.92 database (no offense intended), it could take days to properly convert all the data; even then it won't be a 1:1 conversion so some data is sure to be lost simply because of incompatibilities. We're thinking if a merge of the communities were to happen, the simple solution would be to set up an archive of this board and have anyone that needs to, just register and post on what already exists of ||board; there's no e-mail confirmation needed either, so it's not that hard.

Your camera must suck, even automatic color correction couldn't fix it well. At least the car looks more normal.

It was originally for a better place to store ROM hacking information, but eh. The only reason a wiki was started in the first place was because Ailure begged Xkeeper for it.

The Microsoft format utilities have a known bug where they might somehow preserve old files. Just run DBAN on the disk or partition with a simple wipe of 0s, and there won't be any possible way for software to recover the data.

I use KWallet. It's both encrypted (against a passphrase) and automatically fills out information into some applications (like my browser); can even have multiple entries for the same form.

IIRC, SeaMonkey/Firefox's built-in password database is also encrypted, but I haven't checked for certain.

Acmlmboard 1.[AB]* are massively unstable, you probably shouldn't use them at all. 1.92 itself is very insecure, and there's no point in having even older versions. All in all, Acmlmboard is obsolete (and insecure) software that shouldn't be used anymore for production forums. The best option would really be going with different software, like phpBB or PunBB, instead; no real alternatives for a similar style yet, ||board should be released within a few months (probably at most three months), and I have no idea about board2 (you'd have to ask Acmlm or blackhole89 I suppose).

No, ||board is an entirely new system. Not based on anything at all.

No they don't. It's exactly the same as the NES version, it's just run in an emulator.

Plus, you're probably using one of the cracked versions. The clean dump of the game does not currently run in emulators or on flash carts. Any patch you make will probably not work for other people unless they happen to have the exact same crack.
