I used to mess around in a couple java applets/flash alot (sandbox thing, cat with bow golf, line rider, etc) but now I don't do much of that.

I'm actually for the merger now. Everyone who I care about has moved off of this board and onto JUL, so there's really nothing here for me to stay for. The staff at ||board are willing to run a board though, as opposed to here where nobody wants to step up. It's really better for this board to just die, and for the users to either go to ||board or JUL.


I'm sorry but it really seems like everyone is forgetting about the ROM Hackers. As in the people who don't give a shit and came here instead of ||board because ||board let shit run loose, and unless Xk is handing out flyers again, they're still here, and as long as certain parties would keep to themselves, there would be less drama for them to have to care about (that they'd get five big spoons of at justus) as well as less flaming and trolling (ditto at ||board) while being able to just hack and show what they do.

Before two days ago I can't think of anyone who just wanted this board to die, openly, at least. Now all of a sudden its living past its due. For all the people who aren't concerned with these politics its as if someone just knocks on their door one day and says "Hey, you can't live here any more, your house was torn down yesterday."

Setz, I agree with you. This is really the on;y safe haven for ROM hackers, and maybe, the Board should be delegated to just that, if nothing else.


It isn't the only board for ROM Hackers, there is still RHDN, and specialized places such as SMW Central, all those sonic community boards, and whathaveyou, but this is the board that a lot of rom hackers are used to visiting, where a lot of people first learned how to do their thing, and etc. Some people are just so used to visiting it that they keep doing so without realizing it, kind of like me with zophar. Others just like the look and feel.

If bandwidth is really so important and activity drops to a screeching halt you could always give the board a truncated appearance kind of like pixelation, but I'm not seeing the point.

Seriously, if we were all sitting in a room in real life, I doubt any of this drama would ever have occurred.

What I do have to say about the "flaming and trolling" at ||board is that 99% of it is done in humor. It's the kind of place where you either belong or you don't. You need thick skin to post there, but if you've got it you'll enjoy it.

I would sort of like this place to stay a little serious, actually. ||board meets all my hilarity / craziness needs already.

I'm not saying the flaming etc. isn't done in humor, but a lot of people just don't care for it. I don't post there for the same reason I don't post at justus, I don't feel the need to.

Perhaps we should just spawn a few more spinoffs, that seems to be the hip thing to do.

Last view: 2597 days 		Java is very good for cross-compatability, and fairly easy to pick up if you have much programming experience. Plenty of people don't like java for X reason, but I'm sure just as many don't like VB either. Java is free, and you'll only have to compile once.

It might seem like a good idea to go cross-platform, but if it is so much of a pain to you that you would not want to work on the project, just go with whatever you're comfortable with.

I thought about looking into Solaris multiple times, but as far as I'm concerned Sun calling Solaris the "most advanced OS" is the same as Microsoft calling Windows Vista the "Most secure and bug-free OS." Solaris seems very business-oriented, though, something that you shouldn't really bother with unless you use it in the workplace.

Giving us no information about your hardware makes it even harder for us to know why Solaris is not working for you.

boardhole89 is so fucking lulz.

catgirl board is pretty lame.

board2 is pretty accurate.

board3 makes it sound like it is something newer and thus more advanced, or in the case of a movie, something that probably sucks.

blackboard sounds both nice and is descriptive, and the best of the list as I can see.

Game Aver while it has this incredible aura of lame has one redeeming quality; not containing the word "board."

I'd throw in something if I was creative at all, despite being voted "most creative" or whatever.
