I'm sorry if this seems like a stupid question, but what exactly is Melty Blood? I would look it up if either of my means of accessing the internet were worth a damn to use for more than browsing forums.

From what I can gather, it seems like a 2D fighter, similar to Street Fighter or Mortal Kombat. Am I right in that assumption?

Well, but it's not like all forums are dying out either... I'd say it's fairly evident that, compared to IRC or even Facebook chats, forum posting does have several advantages which mostly stem from the possible length, arbitrary time available for thinking your posts through and extensive formatting options. It's just a matter of motivating people to, or even finding people who, appreciate those advantages sufficiently to prefer it over other means of communication available.


I think people moved off forums and onto blogs. tbh

I think blogs are something different altogether... I can't even see how they would replace forums for someone unless that someone does what people would call using forums like they are their blog.
Well for many of the areas I'm interested in, the main conversation has moved away from forums entirely, and almost exclusively onto blogs.


for this place, the tremendous population cut plus lack of diverse time zones is probably a major factor
