After a long break I've started working on my hack again!

First, I've updated the OW. The additional waterfall tiles were a pain in the ass to make.



Then I started a new level!

Thunder Hills


Lightning, as you can see.


I've remapped a few things. The turn block bridges are now "used" block bridges. That's because the turn block (and ? block) bounce sprite is no longer used, so that I can have the note and on/off switch bounce GFX in SP1.


Bob-ombs are always fun!

Also, the rain looks a lot better in emulation.

Exactly. I should have been more specific. I would love to see a sprite based on a P-Switch that permanently changes solid blocks to empty space, without playing P-Switch music.

You'd be better of using the on/off flag for that.

I can attempt it, but I can't guarantee anything.

Edit: I wouldn't be able to make it carryable, BTW/

The Sonic looks good, but it's "redrawn"-style graphics don't fit with the SMW graphics. Also, the blue square around Sonic on the OW is wrong. I like the coins from Sonic though.

It doesn't look "redrawn" because of the lack of outlines.

Also, the rings look off, maybe because they don't look as shiny as the original rings?

Meh, I definitely won't be spending too time on it, its not a priority. So don't worry. It'd be more like a side project.

The on/off flag is triggered by the on/off switch block.

Also, I think it'd be easier to make if it functioned like a ?-block. IE, it would make the block(s) disappear when hit from below then change into a "used" block. Tell me if that's okay, because it would be a hell of a lot less trouble.

Hm, thanks for that info. *Goes to modify giant Blurp*

Also, you could have it erase any block you like if I use the on/off flag. You'd insert a block that's only passable while the flag is in the "on" position (which is included with block tool) then give that block an on/off animation with ExAnimation.

I'm going to make the ?-block one first so you'll have something and if I manage an accurate switch one, I'll give that to you.

Why don't you use Smallhackers "Seperate Luigi" patch and make Shadow as the second character?

That patch is incompatible with addmusic, and I'd assume that this hack features addmusic-added Sonic music.

Nothing I see particularly interests me here. Sure there's some good GFX, but there it doesn't capture a... um.. vibe. It looks like you cut pieces of different games apart and stuck them together.

Found a new problem. Anyone have any idea about how to prevent the Classic piranha from being killed by fireballs while it's still all the way inside the pipe?

I don't think that fixable, at least not easily. It's not that big of a problem anyways.


...How do I change it? cfg_editor only lets me change the flower's palette.

I'm having the same problem all the different varieties of custom piranha's I've tried. right now I'm working with Davros's alternate piranhas. I'm thinking there might be some value in the asm file I can edit. I'd appreciate it if someone could point me in the right direction.


Find this line, located just at the beginning of the graphics routine.

PROPERTIES          dcb $0A,$08,$0A,$08


Change the "0A"s to something else to change the vines properties. Note that the properties are stored in the Xyppccct format.
