Derp I use Chrome not IE. There's more browsers than just FF and IE you know...

Also multiquote looks bad, I haven't gotten around to fixing it.

It would look pretty nice if it didn't leak out the right side like that.

Kawa: You use Opera right? Does the black bar cut off below the image in it?

Posted by Mega-Mario
The leaking out could be nice if the boxes had a border around them or something...

I think if I added borders it would ruin the layout's simplistic motif.
Edit: Also sometimes quotes are randomly longer.

You mean in the long OP? There's the bubbly part, then a black strip down the entire length of the post. Is that as intended? Cos it sure looks that way.

Yeah that's how it's supposed to be. In firefox there's no black bar going past the image. It just stops. I'll chalk it up as Firefox's fault and not Chrome's. Although I suppose it could be Opera and Chrome's fault.

I kept blockquotes from stretching all the way to the end of the post now. Still need to look at multi-quotes. Also I need to make sure the main post area is always the correct length.

Edit: Scratch that, this quote just leaked. What the hell.
Edit 2: Ok, so now the post area is always as long it should be. Which leads to leaking quotes. Oh boy. I'll have to play with margins I guess.

Man why does board2 use blockquotes, they're pretty horrible.

Best I could do with overflow is make an annoying horizontal scroll bar appear.

Right now I just need to figure out why the quotes are overflowing horizontally. I know it happened once I made sure the post area used it's full width. Just not why doing that made the quotes overflow.

Thus I shall repeat: <blockquote> is a horrible tag.

Edit: Fixed it. The problem was a stray width: 100%; Why that would make it overflow, I'll never know. It fixed multi-quotes also.

Note to self: Putting setting a blockquote's width to 100% messes shit up.

I just went ahead and decreased the blockquote margins, since they're offset by a little too much in their original form.

Alright, now that quotes are up and running correctly, I need to go about getting it to render correctly in Firefox.

* Boing begins preparing to sacrifice his ram to Firefox.

If it doesn't render in IE, I'll just say fuck it and make the entire layout not show up at all in IE. Hardly anyone here uses it anyways, I think.

Edit: Firefox should work correctly now. At least, Firefox 3.0 renders it. Problem was that firefox apparently doesn't like rendering table cells with nothing in them, so it was as simple as adding a quick &nbsp;

Just checked and IE renders it horribly, but at this point I'll just say screw IE.

Yeah, I think it'd be better for layout development if we could see more elements in the post preview. If people don't have layouts, they could toggle it or something in the Edit Profile if there's really that many complaints.

Here's what I suggest:

well the math and svg tags most likely wouldn't be changed by layouts at all. And I would hope that people wouldn't change the spoiler tag.

As far as the actual test text goes I don't care, it was just a general layout.

Well if there is something before the "on" then there's no sense filtering it if it's an anti-javascript measure...

Do you think this thread has entirely too much Mega-Mario in it right now?

Blade Man on the bottom right? Yeah, probably blade. Or knife. Or sword. Or something else sharp.

Top right looks like a roman warrior. He clearly is holding a shield and his helmet has that brush thing on top.
Edit: Wait... he was reproduced incorrectly! That's not a shield. In addition, his level theme seems to be a sewer... so who knows.

Or sword.
You made Megaman 8 cry.

I'm not much of a guesser, so I suppose we'll see.

I never played 8, or 7 for that matter. And I've only beaten Megaman 2.

That one level seems sports related... Also in the beginning of the video there is an area that looks like a stadium. Referee Man? Doubt it. Can't think of a better name though.

I think I see Air Man on the top left.

Now that you mention it... it DOES look a lot like Air Man.

So, that doesn't mean you can't play competitively. I would play competitively if I had someone at my own skill level to play against.

IE, someone who actually USES the run button. I never am NOT holding it!

The other players have a limited time to get to the flag pole, if they don't get there in time, the level clear cinematic goes on without them.

It's also worth mentioning that NSMBWii has a very competitive coin battle mode.

Offtopic: your layout just spoiled my spoiler by giving it CSS transparency and white font color, and thus making it plain visible

I don't know what you're talking about, it's fine for me.

But I assume that, if they don't reach the flagpole in time, they don't die, do they?

Nah. They sacrifice the chance for any additional 1-ups though.

Again!

The previous thread was ancient, so I decided to make a new one!

Spelunky is a platformer where you have to explore a deep cave as a Indiana Jones style archeologist, gathering as much treasure as possible, and avoiding monsters and traps along the way. However, every time you play the levels are randomly generated! It's been described as La-Mulana meets Nethack.

Download it here!
Spelunky Wiki here!

The game also features a level editor for those that want to use it.
I made a pretty difficult level the other day! I don't know anyone, other than myself, who has beaten it. Get a screenshot of you at the level exit and win cool points.

Download
Warning: This level uses some objects from the final area! Don't play it if you don't want to be spoiled!

To play a level, put it in the "levels" folder of your Spelunky directory. Then on the title screen, hit F3 and then type the name of the level. Have fun!
