For an improvisation for now, I think we can use this thread for the requests of name changes, custom title changes, and any other small changes impossible to access by users.

Well you can change your custom title once you satisfy the requirements.
IIRC they are:
1200 posts OR
800 posts + Registered 1 year OR
be on Staff

Something is telling me we shouldn't have to wait for "cool Japanese Rockman hacks" for our activity to pick up. We should be a bit more self sufficient when it comes to these sorts of things.

Edit: Actually, some cool Super Mario RPG hacks might get the job done.

I'm coding some HDMA without any kit, and I can't for the life of me figure out how to use $2121 and $2122 to change the backdrop color without affecting layer 2.



I've messed with CGADSUP in practically every conceivable bit combination that would make sense. I've tried turning off the subscreen color math blackhole89 told me about ($2130 bit 1) but to no avail. Will I have to resort to some sort of kit? This is driving me insane.

Something i've wanted to edit:

Include a list of palettes that the HDMA uses, IE: Geno Whirl, Power-up animations, drain beam, Geno Beam... etc.

That would be great.

Well, HDMA doesn't exactly use "Palettes", it's generally color math and such, assuming its HDMA. Shouldn't be too hard to edit if you knew the location in the ROM.

I have that same document, I'll try that instead later. Seems a bit harder to work with, however.

Edit: Ok, so using that address works... almost. Now I'm having trouble actually getting it to apply on a per-scanline basis.

Edit2: Nevermind! Success! I actually managed to figure it out by looking at the tables of d4s' kit. They were just the HDMA data, so it wasn't that much of a stretch. Here's a pic:

I'd say its preference. I prefer YY-CHR but Tile Molester is also highly recommended.

The only way I could honestly see making any custom enemies is to pre-render them in some 3D modeling program.

I'm pretty sure that's how they did it in the first place.
