I'd try and give everything a more pastel shaded look.

Kinda like what you're doing there, but try and avoid heavy blacks unless they're definately needed.

And re-do mario and the rest of the sprites in the same style eventually.

It's the first track there. Wrote it, mixed it and uploaded it today.

Any opinions? Anything I should change or re-do?

Thanks, people.

Ignoring all the stupid bullshit in the general screenshot thread, I'd like to say holy fuck - this is awesome.

All you need is a wall jump, and then you have the basis for a pretty incredible project.

And your RPG based idea is very, VERY similar to that of Wario Land 3? Ever played it?

Wario starts off with no abilities in the game, he cannot even swim. Each level has four colour coded treasure chests, each opened with a key of the corresponding colour (4 of each in each level, like the chests). Inside the chests are either objects that help to progress through the game (triggering events in the overworld to open up new levels) or new abilities (such as the ground pound, picking up objects, swimming etc). These new abilities help you to reach previously unreachable keys, which lead to more abilities and more levels and so on.

It's an incredible concept, and if you do something similar, it'd be awesome.

A good idea would be to have levels that you need to go back to after you've earned one of the new abilities in order to complete some sort of task.

Yeah, thats basically the concept which I described above, which Wario Land 3 was based around.

It'd need some pretty fucking clever level design though. A nice variety of different puzzles and a decent learning curve.

I did a two year BTEC in Film Production, which is the equivalent of two A levels (the course has no exams, it's purely practical and theoretical work).

I got a distinction and a merit for my work in the course, so basically I've got two A standard A level grades. Which is awesome. For photography, I should get a B going by my coursework and my exam (which was just 4 hours of listening to music, eating, and developing photos).

So these are my grades:

A
A
B

Whoo.

Also, Minako Hamano (Metroid Fusion) did this song along with Yusuke Takahama (Digital Pinball series). I just didn't think Minako had it in him to do something like this (I can't think of anything in Fusion that sounded remotely as badass as this).

Uhh, Mikano Hamano is a woman. She wrote half the tracks for Super Metroid too (such as the famous ridley theme and the Miradia music).

She and Eveline Fischer (donkey kong country 1 and 3) are the only two female composers in the video game industry that I can actually think of, to be honest.

I understood the problem, Mario could "wall" jump by just jumping on the spot...but my point was it was more a theory of how it would be constructed so I did if half-arsed.

No no, the problem is that DahrkDaiz doesnt want it in his hack.

On the topic of connections between Metroid and Wario Land, am I the only one who noticed that the scream and pause sound effects are identical between the two games?

Also, listen to the sound effects played when you enter/exit the pause screen on both Wario Land 1 and Metroid 2. They're the same.

Right, I've just got hold of my old SNES again after many years of it being lost.

But the AC Adapter is nowhere to be found...so I'm going to have to buy a new one. And I doubt I can get hold of an official one, so I'll have to find one with the same voltage etc.

But I dont know what the specs are. Can anyone help me here?

And remember, this is a PAL machine. Give me the voltage specifications for an NTSC/american adapter, and you'll probably destroy my house.

From this site, it looks like you need an output of 9v DC with around 1.2 A. Yay Google.

Woah. Thanks. I searched on google for literally the whole day, and didnt see anything like that.

Maybe this hangover was just affecting things though.

More imagery for you guys.

I'm basically working on a Super Mario World remake of Super Mario Land 3 - minus the Wario stuff. Which is surprisingly titled Super Mario Land 3

Woah. I like. Recognised it immediately.

Keep it up. Although...how the hell are you going to manage levels such as 1-4 (the level where the pouncer is following you through the tunnel, then requiring you to jump on top of it to cross the lava), and other such situations which rely on Wario's shoulder charge?

Edit - I missed your 'minus the wario stuff' comment. But still, levels like 1-4 fully rely on the 'wario stuff'.

So basically, for the past two years, I've been working on a film production course. I've just finished my final project, and here it is, filmed and edited within a period of two weeks:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CVIyW4el7LA

It started off completely different to how it turned out (was originally more straightforward, but ended up as a very dreamlike piece). But all through this, I was concentrating most on the visual and audio aspects (i'm using this for my photography work too, and based many shots in the film off of photos I took before).

But either way, I'd like this thread to be for opinions, questions and the like. I need quite a few for my evaluation which I have to write up.

But yeah, comments would be great. Some detailed comments/reviews if possible, as this would really help with my evaluation. Thanks!
