Oh it had an interesting plot and was worth playing through just for plot but come on, its gameplay was bog standard turn-based RPG ass.
It's lack of random encounters still make me think way higher of it than the average RPG. I hate random encounters.

The battle mechanic is not really that different from Mother 2 (Earthbound), but it seems like it's more important now to keep track of weaknesses and strenghts of an enemy. Then I need to play through Mother 2 (Earthbound) and perhaps Mother 1 again.

I'm downloading some animes just now when I heard someone knocking at the door. I thought it was my mother so I directly cut the power supply of my PC.
Is anime really that controversial within your family?

been working some.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v714/darkflight_devil/Level113.png This is an older pic (the level has since quadrupled in size and there are enemies), but that's a quick look at a tileset I'm working on
That strangely reminds me about a early 90's PC platformer more than a Mario platformer.

Still quite neat. :o

At least it seems like it only blocks homebrew channel from installing, and not actually deleting it.

I guess Nintendo don't want controversy with bricking Wii's or something.

Isn't this more of an ROM hacking question?

(And coding wise, I'm pretty sure they're quite similar for the most part)

I totally thought that you could spontaneously change your personality.

Now I'm disappointed.
Oh, he still can.

It just requires lobotomy.

I thought that Megaman 9 wasn't even programmed in assembly.
Most likely C++ or something but then I doubt the original poster would be interested in that version, unless he got sudden interest playing on a Wii instead of a proper NES emulator.

...of course, the result would still be machine code. Doesn't matter what programming language you use. (It might be easier to hack raw machine code compiled from assembly code though.)

I knew about this for a while, I'm just too much of a pussy to actually attempt it.
While it's quite safe, I think I won't exactly install it on my family Wii.

I do plan to test out the world of Wii homebrewing when I got my own console however.

More Mario Kart 64 music plus some NPCs :

I suppose you're planning to eventually change some of the instruments later. Some sounds a little off.

I meant, just change them into different Super Mario 64 instruments.

It also seems like you have a hard time talking to some NPC's, seeing how you throw punches at them half of the time.

Everyone probably have heard about Dwarf Fortress by now.

And some of you might heard about a succession game done with DF, which got popular after it was done over at the somethingawful with the fortress Boatmurdered. Each person plays a fortress for about a year, and turns the game over to the next person when he's done with his year.

Just checking on how many who would be interested in a such game, and what parameters that it would use.

I'm planning to play through Mother 1 and 2 again.

...I probably use that hack of Mother 1 that doubles the exp of enemies, just to halve the treadmill involved.

I have a 80 GB Hard Drive in a box, because some of the sectors are permanently damaged.. and the fact the number of damaged sectors kept increasing.
Broken sectors are common on HD's, so common that there's a spare pool of sectors that is used as soon one breaks. And that it's been considered normal with a HD having broken sectors when coming out fresh from the manufacturing plant.

However when the filesystem itself notices the broken sectors (because the pool of spare sectors have ran out), and it keeps increasing... it's time to buy a new HD.

Well, it is supposedly a bit easier for people who are running it on the real thing. I went through the whole game without mastering combos, though I did hit the max possible numbers of them once.

Spoiler:
Amusingly, part of the scene from Flint learning about Hinawa's death can be seen on screenshots from the Mother 64 version, but only the part where the guy says "I have good news and bad news" and a screenshot of Flint being really pissed off. Ironically, this wasn't known until Mother 3 was released though, since it wasn't obvious from the screenshots alone.

Could always go for an area with magma + underground water feature.

That way you can make artificial forests easily as far I know.
