Sure, the Earth probably won't explode if the board doesn't focus on it, but general chat boards are common, ROM Hacking boards are not... And as far as I can remember, this board was unique because of the mix between ROM Hacking and cool chat, not stupid threads taking over. If the general chat goes on tipping the scale, this board will be condemned to fade into the void... |

From a joke's point of view, my mind is like a super elite club with heavy security...
But once you get there, you're good for a long, luxurious stay... In plain English, the things I find ultra funny are rare to come by, but once they set in, I can laugh them repeatedly for a few hours, even a few days... Another one. The speed of my walk is directly proportional to the intensity of my thoughts. So when I do the 100 steps thinking about something, if I concentrate a lot, I start walking faster, and could even start running... |

Posted by LvKeulen Yeah, assuming you stay in the same bank or you know what banks are loaded at the time the text strings are used. I guess the NES is somewhat less forgiving than GBA on that matter... And you have to check how the text string's length is determined. Usually, you have a terminator byte, like FF. And you have to check how the text is displayed on the screen, or you will see strange results, like text wrapping and wrong palettes, stuff like that... In any case, the key is to understand the game's mechanics as much as possible... |

If it sucks so much, why did you reply to this thread?
I don't need money incentive to make great software, especially for ROM Hacking, which I see strictly as a hobby. What I do need is free time and motivation, which itself stems from either a lack of something for a specific game or because I have a great idea and I want to see it take life. The challenge of good ASM hacks is also quite appealing. Of course, hacking a game I like helps a lot, obviously... |

Hmmm, quite interesting. I played Gimmick when I saw that there was an editor for it in the works. At first, it looked quite random and simple, but the level editor seems to have quite some potential for interesting levels...
I also played Arkista's Ring, and while it's a simple game, it's quite fun actually. It could be fun to make an editor for it, as well... |
