Thank you self appointed moderator man!

Just tryin to do some good since the admins didn't like, do any board rules kind of thing. It'll all probably fall to spam anyway before local mods come to power anyway.

Actually, isn't this forum in specific have the purpose of catharsis? It's not really for discussion, per say.

That and seeking advice. I've also seen it used for discussion, but the times I've attempted it doesn't work, so mostly catharsis and advice-seeking.

I've felt like this to the point that I had myself convinced that I was stupid. And I'll be honest -- it's for me a Depression thing. When I finally told a doctor about it, I was given alternative Depression treatment, mainly a drug that is used for Attention Deficit Disorder (not Depression). It seems to do a fairly good job.

Most of the time I'm okay now even without the drugs. But when I get run down, when bad things happen, or when I am very fatigued (ie, lately with the Glandular Fever) I feel like a scatterbrained dolt again.

Well, I'm not a psychiatrist, so the only person who might know is your doctor. The thing with doctors though is you kinda need to find a good one for this stuff. Most my doctors just let me hang with this fuzzy scatterbrained idiot with poor self-esteem concerning my mental capacity for... three years.

Then I met one doctor who actually knew some of this stuff. The only one who seems to get that the matters concerning my mental capacity are both a cause of - and caused by - my Depression, and that I devalue myself as a human being once my intelligence fails me.

So yeah, Attention Deficit Medication. Now, if he's treating me for Depression or for an adult variant of Attention Deficit, I actually don't know. i get the feeling this guy's also a bit clever.

At any rate, all I needed was more of a "leg up" kind of thing anyway, a kick start. Once I could feel some of my intelligence coming back, that was enough to convince me I wasn't really a fucking slackjawed moron and help myself the rest of the way (no drugs).

Well, if it's even a possibility that you might have Depression, don't you think it's worth checking it out and finding out ways to deal with it?

I dunno, but I couldn't stand having to simply deal with the mental dullness as an indefinite reality of my existance. When I'm like that I start to feel suicidal. I'd rather look for a fix.

It was interesting what was being said about blacking out and stuff before, because occasionally I can come very close to this.

More often though I just wind up a little dizzy after.

Most the time I'm okay, but I have noticed nifty stuff like that that all my emotions such as anxiety and such are shut down completely. My partner could get away with calling me a fucking moron and I'd just go "meh whatever".

Nobody cares that I basically did the same thing minus drinking.

Stupid visiting colleges, I come online and see Acmlm's Board all... Different.

Yeah, but nobody really cares that I did the same thing with feverish hallucinations either.

Mostly cause we don't semi-regularly post amusing post-college or post-fever gibberish to the forum.

I can't do anything with GarageBand besides use it to tune my guitar.

I never did get the hang of computer music tools or computer video tools for that matter.

I have three main computers, but I only really use two at the moment.

Two are Macintoshes, and these are what i use the most. I have an iBook G4 and a Intel Core Duo Mac Mini.

I also have an Athlon XP 3000+ but it hates me and so I hate it right now.

My main problem is holding down the frets, I don't have any problem when I go slow, but as soon as I try to speed up, I start getting dull thunks instead of notes.

Having this problem myself and I think it's all just practice really. I'm getting faster at some songs I "play" but new stuff I still revert to this incredibly slow thing...

I like my IRC client, it's just not much help for you Windows users. It's called Colloquy and it's for Mac OS X

I don't use IRC much though.

Every now and then, I don't mind the occasional Documentary. I can't say I really go out of my way to go watch a Doco though so when I do watch one it has to be about something I'm interested in.

Thankfully the last Doco I watched was about something I am interested in -- John Lennon. The documentary was The US vs John Lennon and talks about the US Government's attempts to kick John Lennon out of the country, and John Lennon's peace activism.

I liked it It was quite interesting to see some of the footage of old interviews, posters, etc too.

Before that I don't think I'd really watched much, besides Super Size Me which I enjoyed and still has me put off of a LOT of fast food.

w00t for alliteration!

Hey, that's pretty clever. In fact, better than most my alliteration crap. Did that take you long?

Reminds me of a thread I once posted - a game, in which you had to write some alliteration stuff about the person who posted before you using the first letter of their screenname. That fell down slightly though when I used the word "lecherous" and someone thought I was making a jab at them.

Real alternative:

Change the base font to 62.5% (equivalent to 10px but resizes in IE better) and then adjust the rest by em values accordingly.

Fix the fonts so that on alternate operating systems it can substitute effectively for Verdana, ie Genova in Mac OS X, and a generic "sans-serif" family modifier so that Linux or whatever picks a suitable font too.

Avoid using fonts smaller than 1em where possible

Well, it's certainly possible to have different CSS files that determine size. I don't know how it would be best to @import it all though.

But I would definitely be looking at - for the body of the document:

body {font-size: 62.5%; font-family: Verdana, Geneva, sans-serif;}

I'd set all sizes at 1em or over from there and use that as a Standard. It's easy to multiply by the 10 (62.5% is 10px), so you can work out easily that 1.8em is 18px. Most browsers resize that stuff nicely too, it will work in Windows and in Mac OS X, and should be nice in Linux too.

That is significantly better. It's still small and compact but INFINITELY more readable on my monitor.

Geneva looks great too on my Mac.

I'll post these in a separate thread so that they (hopefully) get some attention.

So that we cut down on some confusion, I would like to see the following "transparency" features.

  • Reason why banned users are banned in their profile. Indication if it is a temporary ban of how long ban will be for
    • If possible, who banned the user
  • Placeholder spots for moved threads, redirecting to new location (expire after a few days / disappear)
  • Placeholder spots for any deleted threads (expire after a few days / disappear) although these are unlikely
  • Small entry at end of closed threads explaining why a thread was closed (and by whom) - ie, attempt to make sure that this can't be accidentally forgotten

That is all for now.

General idea: to stop people asking other people the same kinds of questions over and over -- where is my thread? why am I banned and when will I be unbanned? why was this thread closed / who closed this thread? Who banned me?

Then when people get questions they don't know they can also look it up.

I'll stick with the "standard" one. It's perfect for me on this really big 20" monitor

although on my smaller iBook screen I'd be inclined to use a smaller one.

That all sounds good to me.

I'm just looking for stuff that makes communication a lot easier.

I want it to be as bleeding fucking obvious as possible to MoronicIdiot5856 why he was banned, warned or his thread about sheep-fucking was closed or whatever.

I want it to be bleeding obvious to the administrators too who actioned it so they don't have to ask. I don't care if some information isn't public -- in fact I don't want to see Administrators become targets because they appear in a public "Banned By" field in someone's profile.

And yes, standardized warnings / warn for this post (ban for this post?) = very win.

Font size is a massive improvement, and loving the fact that it is customisable. Should make things much nicer for people with different resolutions.

Thankyou, Xkeeper <3
