This could be why the patch isn't working for some people. Do ROMs not work in certain emulators when they have bad checksums? I don't know because I use ZSNES. When creating this patch I didn't alter the checksum, resulting in a bad one. When you save a level in LM, it corrects the checksum, meaning the ROM would work.

sirhax0r: I already tried that once, and it just plays the first note. I think the notes are stored as individual sound effects.

I believe that HAL created its own music for its games, so many of them, including KSS and Earthbound, don't use the N-SPC engine. Kirby's Dream Course is an exception to the rule, because it was originally created by Nintendo as Special Tee Shot. This means that the Bandai Satellaview version of Special Tee Shot most likely uses the N-SPC format. Zelda: LttP does use the N-SPC format. I found what most of the commands were through messing with that editor.

EDIT: Here is proof that I'm making progress on my next version of the patch; it's Yoshi's Cookie: VS. Music C played with SMAS instruments.

How to i put that in my hack or open it?

That would be SPC. It's a sound file for SNES. Get Winamp. Get the SPC plugin. Profit.
Thanks!

This works just fine on an almost clean ROM, but it just causes my hack in-progress to freeze up. (Not surprising, as much crap that's been accumulating in my ROM for the past year) So, any way to utilize this for level music? (I'm coveting that DKC2 brambles music)

Problably the creator of Mario Fantasy Knows.
why dont you ask him?

Heh, you think that's bad? The X-Naut Fortress theme from PM2 uses some o8s and o9s .. I gave up after I saw how long it was going to take

Oh, and Darklink .. I made Corridors of Time for you. It's one of my better pieces, so lucky for you I didn't screw anything up, I think. Listen to the .spc first and let me know what you think.

SPC

And if you want to use it in your hack, here is the TXT

TXT

Note: It was a big and long song, so in order to use this, you will have to get rid of 18.txt, meaning instead of 8 OW songs, you only have 7 choices. It doesn't matter though, since only 7 can be used on the OW anyway

Enjoy.

Can you make the SML main theme?

What I think he is assuming is that people are going to take the ASM out of the zip and use it in their own hack, and he doesn't want that

No remember the starsw.zip that was in sprite tool but there were in some trouble with the japanese mario hackers?
well after that we cant use cause we migth get in trouble just look in the sprite tool treadth and read all of the posts!

I've now sorted it out, which means the level music bank is finished!

Music track 18 is Pipe Island from Yoshi's Safari.

I should note that the music programmers for Yoshi's Safari and Yoshi's Cookie wasted a lot of space, as they didn't use the call loop command at all! By adding this command throughout the track, I've reduced its size from 70B bytes to a mere 3F6 bytes.

So your about to finish a new version of the patch?
When will the new one come out?

Erm, yeah...

I guess I did kind of imply that I'd have this released within a week or so from when I got back, and it's been a week now. Heh, I keep playing around with Sprite Tool instead of making the small fixes I need to. I could release this right now if you guys don't mind a couple of small areas that have the original SMW castle background. I keep looking at my backgrounds in general and thinking that they need major improvements before this will be fit for public consumption, but backgrounds take me so long to do that I could continue putting this off indefinitely.

But really, it's only a demo, so I should probably just get on with it.

Please release a demo!

can we post our own custom sprites here too?

I modified the mikeyk's spring board disassembly and turned into a pow switch, wich kills all the sprites on screen. I want to release it but I'm having a small problem. It still shows the spring board graphics if carried O_o

why dont you just change the graphics of the springboard to a switch in that level only?

Mushroom Blocks

I've decided it's finally time to release these. There's a readme that explains what you need to do to get the block and sprite working together. I've also included a sample ips for those that want to quickly see how they work.

Something I forgot to mention in the readme. There are two versions of the sprite. mushroom_block shouldn't be able to be destroyed at all. mushroom_block_2 is more like the other sprites in SMW in that it falls offscreen after colliding with other sprites.

This is Great, I really needed it too!
