I basically see Empire as the perfect space opera...

Wow, I've never seen it put that way ... but that's freaking perfect. The absolute truth. The music throughout that entire movie is like a non-stop rollar coaster, and well the whole movie is just insane.

Though, I still think IV has the best music and themes. Just a lot of the classic stuff (like at the end when they're getting rewards).

And well I still have a soft spot for VI as well. Though I've never cared for the whole Jabba opening, and the Ewoks just seem drastically weak when your\ really think about it (childish) ... the last 30 minutes of the movie is godly epic. To this day, when I watch the final duel, see Darth Vader throw the Emperor to his doom and so on I get the craziest chills. The whole-ending is absolutely flawless.

I really don't know if I can decide. I'd probably place any of the OT above any other movie I've ever seen, but I've always been a diehard fan since I was about 5 or so. Can't beat nostalgia.

Episode III is probably my favorite from the NT. Though there's still a lot about it that I don't like or would have liked to have been different, it was basically my childhood dream come true. When I was young but old enough to understand the conflict between Obi-Wan and Anakin/Darth Vader, I just knew their fight was intense and mindblowing. 15 some years later, I'd say it delivered with that aspect. Also call me the ultra nerd but when they were executing the plan in killing all of the Jedi I think I teared a bit.

Episode II was okay but the acting was just terrible. I hate Douku, and I still can't stand the Yoda fight scene.

Episode I was okay but the podracing was way too long, young Anakin was annoying as heck, and Jar Jar Binks. But hey, it had Qui-Gon.

/ 2 cents

No who ever watched the bit after the credits can you please post it in spoiler tags?

Spoiler:
You're shown the same beach/hills that Miller and Elizabeth had sexy time on, but 10 years later. You see a kid running up to the top of the hill looking out at the ocean as Elizabeth comes up behind him, obviously his mother. Then the sun sets and the ship appears again revealing Miller standing up on his ship, obviously his father. That's about it. The 10 year curse could possibly be over, but they didn't really say much.

I've never been a huge fan of the series myself. Again, I think this one was too long for its own good (like the previous entry also). I still enjoyed it though, but its not something I'd buy or really want to see again.

@Kario: Whoops, yeah.

I had a few shots of saki at work once, and someone said "fanny pack" and I started laughing kind of like that.

I can't imagine what would happen if I tried this stuff ... =O

Something I discovered a few days ago I thought I'd share. This is just awesome. If you ask me, shmups have some of the best music in videogames. Period.

And just when I thought most were synth/rock/metal based, I hear Radiant Silvergun. That games soundtrack sounds pretty much exactly like something you could have heard off Vagrant Story/Final Fantasy XII. Thanks to this radio I've discovered tons of great OSTs of games I haven't even played (yet). For starters, if anyones interested I'd recommend Hyper Duel Arranged, Iridion 3D & II Arranged, Ibara (sounds like Sonata Arctica), Radiant Silvergun, and Salamander II. Those are just some of the awesome ones I discovered last night.

Download the playlist!

Main site and detailed playlist.

Enjoy.

Underrated:

-Deus Ex. The best, maybe the ONLY worthwhile single player mode in a first person shooter. It forgoes the usual "campaign" style single player mode, and instead presents the player with an open-ended story, with multiple approaches to each situation depending on how the player wants to play it. (Combat vs. Stealth, Physical talents vs. Technology-based talents, playing a good or a bad guy, ect.) I know, I know, this is not so underrated in the world of PC gaming, but the fact is that there are so few PC gamers and so few console gamers are willing to try this game that I have to say it. (Note: do not get the sequel, Deus Ex: Invisible War, as it is nothing like the first one and is a giant steaming turd)

Mother fuckin' pwnage. I think I've beaten that game 10+ times, various play throughs on both the PS2 and PC. Too bad IW (while still a great game) was a pretty bad sequel, it failed in comparison (I blame it for being set a little too far into the future, and well the characters blew, and where was the music, and it was half as long as the first, and and and ...). I usually have to bring in Deus Ex into these lists, but good thing I'm not alone on that!

On another note though, I just get a laugh at how many people instantly seem to pick out OoT all the time, whenever discussions like this are brought up. I loved it, but I guess you guys have been to GameFAQ's too often or something? In the end there's not much to argue that it's practically a 3D retelling of Link to the Past (which has always been my favorite). But, okay. I guess its overated ... I guess? Not nearly as much compared to any Final Fantasy out there and so on. Then again maybe I'm just a Zelda fanboy, even though I still really don't like Wind Waker.

And yeah, Final Fantasy VII. I liked the music, the environments, the gameplay, and that's about it. Characters are worthless, plot is retarded, fanboys, Sephiroth, etc.

Onward to victory.

Overated
- All Final Fantasy's. I loved a lot of them, but I'll take Breath of Fire III/IV, Chrono Tigger/Cross, Vagrant Story, Star Ocena I/II, Secret of Mana/SD3, Suikoden's ... etc over them anyday.
- Halo 2 ... I liked Halo PC.
- Dead or Alive series. Fuck that shit. =D, I absolutely hate those games.
- All new Sonic related things.
- Pokemon games.
- Blizzard.

Underated
- Thunder Force series. Its always "Gradius and R-Type this and that", now I love those series as well, but freaking Thunder Force! IV has the most metal Genesis OST of all time, and the games are just crazy.
- Turrican series and well like others said, shmups in general.
- Suikoden series. They're epic.
- The Rush racing games.
- Zelda II. Yes.
- Power Stone I/II, or just a lot of Dreamcast games.
- Lots of N64 games like Blast Corps, Vigilante 8, etc.
- Metroid series. Can't wait for Prime 3!
- Half-Life series.
- Total Annihilation/Supreme Commander.

That's all I can think of for now.

I used keyboards for years but eventually bought a USB adaptor for PS2 controllers. This was my choice since the layout is pretty similar to SNES controllers, and a few extra buttons are a bonus. Easy to adapt with Genesis and other games as well.

I always play with this nowadays, unless I'm feeling really lazy and don't want to hook it up.

I don't know, seems too expensive for a multiplayer game. It just looked too ambitious, and its getting low ratings.

I might get it sometime when the price drops, just not now. Maybe worth a rental?

Oh hey, that just reminded me. MMX6. Why does everyone hate MMX6?

Worst storyline ever, and X5's was bad enough already.

Then again just call me an odd Megaman fan since I hate Zero, and really wish the series would have ended with a real duel between X and Zero (like X2 and X3's endings hinted at), but I guess that was just TOO dark for Capcom. But it would have been epic. Instead we got the monstrosities that are X7 and X8.

Wha? When is Metroid undertated?

True, though they don't seem to get nearly as much recognition as Mario/Zelda/other big names.

Now I see why I hated R-Type.

I always died of usually the same thing. After a Game Over or two, I finally get past the obstacle(s), just to get killed again.

But the music's good.

Heh, you're going to love Gradius. While not as evil level design wise as R-Type, it has a "if you die, you might as well reset, since you lose all power-ups upon death, and it takes a couple stages to get them all back - and without powerups, you're not going to survive those stages" gameplay concept which is sure to annoy (plus, you can't recharge shields, just replace them - a shield takes 4 hits before it breaks, and the next hit will do you in, but you're not allowed to get a fully powered shield until you've been hit those four times. Amazing fun when you got bullets coming from all directions, and you have to hit the B button right after losing your shield if you hope to survive). I have beaten the thing, but that was a no-death run.

In R-Type, you can often just keep trying the same level over and over until you get your game over, in Gradius, one mistake will end the game for you right there and then.

Tell me about it. I just got a copy of Gradius III/IV for the PS2, and man those games are a pain even on 'Very Easy' (for someone who's never played them). Though I own and have beaten Gradius III for the SNES, the version the PS2 game includes is the arcade one, which is much harder. Oh yeah and I still haven't beaten Gradius V, after owning it for months. I absolutely can't stand that green-gas-whatever stage.

But yeah, you die in Gradius, you may as well give up.

So for those who don't like that, I'd recommend playing Thunder Force (both III and IV are incredible). When you die you don't restart, instead you just respawn instantly depending on how many lives you have. And the game just plays a lot differently and isn't as heavily focused on the powerups. Though, everything else is crazier and faster paced than R-Type/Gradius games, so they're pretty damn hard too. Its also nice being able to switch from 4 different speeds at any given time without any powerups. That's what really gets you in Gradius, the 5mph speed you start off with.

I knew I was forgetting something . I never understood why people liked it so much (it was a good game but it's definitively not the best sonic game ever).

Xeo is gonna rip you two some new ones...

I would do it, but I'd rather wait for him because he'll do it so much better.

Haha.
Oh well I guess. I remember the last time this arguement went up it was like 20 against 2. Everyone seems to favor S&K though, or something.

Sonic CD has always been my favorite regardless of its simplicity. I mean there's Sonic, and that's it. That's all I want too. Knuckles is fine and dandy but why waste my time gliding and climbing walls when I just want to spin around shit and jump all over the place and keep up with the speed! Topped off with awesome levels, some weird past/future concept, had the most enjoyable Emerald stages out of the series, incredible OST's (both versions), with great anime cutscenes comparable to Sonic SatAM (not to mention this series ties in with Sonic CD in a few episodes), introduced Metal Sonic even before Sonic 2 ... I just loved it. Though I always hated how easy the final boss was.

On a related note I'll say that Sonic the Hedgehog is underated. Its always about Sonic 2, S&K, etc.

Green Hill Zone baby. And stage 6-3 is still by far the scariest level in any Sonic games.
