If you're wondering why there's no ''invisible'' wires to make Link ''fly'', it's because it's not a special effect. Link is actually flying.

In the Alpha Timeline (i.e., my original plans that would have happened if Inspector Swiss hadn't traveled back in time), this character was meant to be Tetris, a non-living L-block that people would treat as a character. A week or so ago, I suddenly realized that this was an unintentional ripoff off the Weighted Companion Cube, so I decided to complete the ripoff and add a romantic relationship between her and Sonic.

Of course it's not an effect in the game.

Judging from stuff I'm too lazy to list, it's most likely a TAS (except it's not a speedrun) where the "failed" runs were kept, recorded (with only the sprite layer on) and somehow pasted together. (One could modify an emulator to output how far the level has scrolled for each frame and use that info to piece it together properly.)

Well, I know a way. It'll take a while to do it, though.

1) Backup ROM
2) Open in hex editor
3) Go to the first byte
4) Change byte to whatever you want it to be
5) Check if the palette changed
6a) If so, you're done!
6b) If not, restore from backup, move to next byte, goto step 4

To me, ROM hacking is not just a pointless time waster, it's a source of experience.

My work on disassembling SMW, determining how it works on a technical level and how they solved certain problems has given me invaluable experience when it comes to game coding (as well as other things). When I made a Zelda-like game as a school project, the structure of the program was based on that of SMW. If I didn't have that knowledge, god knows how horribly structured it would have been, and the knowledge will hopefully also come in handy in the future.
