What is with the [citation needed] things? Do I need to say something along the lines of, 'All tiles courtesy of Kyledove.' Does that help?

Well when you take something from somebody else to put in your hack, it's quite obvious you should give him/her credit.

That's not a bug. It was something done through a exploit. :/

Aw crap, so the posts are lost forever?

I'm posting the first post again until the cite thing gets fixed.

Update: Download the Beta
Notes: Some graphics/palette glitches
Title screen is not completed.

Ever get tired of the endless amount of crappy Pokemon hacks with seven tiles per map changed and a few text changes, then the author claims they are a 'master hacker'? Well this should be a breath of fresh air, hopefully.

Pokemon Prism (Origionally called Pokemon Bronze) is a hack of Pokemon Gold, and the sequel to Pokemon Brown, which can be downloaded here: http://www.romhacking.net/hacks/134/. It is a complete overhaul of the original game. However, Prism will be a vast improvement over Brown. I'll be releasing a beta on June 6th, which will only be up to the first Gym, but will have plenty to show!

Features:
- Brand new region of Naljo (bigger than Johto)
- Return of the region of Rijon (Areas were taken away in Kanto in Gold, Rijon in Prism will have all areas).
- Over 400 new maps (Gold had 368). Each and every map has been changed completely.
- Seven new types. (Wood, Gas, etc.)
- New TM/HM set
- PLENTY of script changes.
- All the Wild Pokemon sets trainer's Pokemon sets have been changed completely
- New Pokedex order (Naljo), with National Dex
- Almost all of the text changed
- Lots of other things that are different from the original product (Yes, in a Pokemon hack, shocking isn't it?)
- Additional tilesets
- And much more!

Heres a couple of Screenshots: (Graphics are a work in progress)

I hope you all enjoy it, this hack's been in production since 2004, and hopefully I can actually make the final version before the year 2072. I suppose a beta's better than nothing.

I love what I've played so far, I hope you can iron out that gender bug.

I already figured out the cause of the glitch, and fixed it.

Yeah I think you need a better name to be honest, it looks good so far (even though it's really really short). Also, if you're going to turn the clock off, you should set the lighting in all outdoor area headers as 01 (always day palette), not 00, theres no need for 00 when theres no clock. The game's default time when no time is selected is 12 AM and I noticed you changed the night/cave palette to fit day, so try to use correct lighting in outdoor areas (or just change the default time to say, 12 PM so it'll always be light out).

Glad you liked my signpost idea too, hah.

Zelda: Parallel worlds and the Dragoon X series, these should be shown as good examples to new hackers.

I like it but like this one guy said, whoring a hack around spontanious difficulty is really annoying. This is why I hate those Mario hack that aquire glitch exploitation and shit because it's just really retarded. I wanted to play Mario, not some other glitch game. If I wanted to play a precision game I'd play operation or bopit or some crazy shit like that.

Thank you for saying those about those Mario hacks, I felt I was the only one who felt that way about those. Especially "HARD" hacks where you die 30 times just to get through the first level. Hard does not equal fun.

Wow, first time I've tried a SMW hack in almost 6 months, and I find this. These are exactly the kind of hacks I hate, people claiming they are "Hard" when they are just frustrating, annoying, long, and impossible. HARD DOES NOT EQUAL FUN. This might be the new definition of what I mean by "HARD" hacks.

I played through it all for some reason...

Level 1: Jump on stones and make sure you don't die, wow, theres no enemies, you just jump and jump and jump and do the same thing over and over hundreds of times for the whole level.

Level 2: All you do is jump UP slippery cement blocks, I kept falling down to the start at the sixth - eight block. Then I used lunar magic to cheat to beat level 2, yeah I cheated, and in this scenario I don't give a fuck, who the hell would want to play through this whole level anyway? If you miss ONE block, you have to start over from the beginning. Plus, the background is glitched.

Level 3: all you do is fly while dodging flying Koopa's and hope you won't bump into them and get killed. There's no strategy regarding this, you just need to hope you don't bump into them. That's the whole level..

Level 4: Not really a level... its a bonus room where you can't exit. (The one where you go to when you get 100 stars). Either way, it wasn't altered from its original form, not your level.

Would I have cried if Shiny Gold beat me? No, hell I was expecting to lose. It's just a silly contest anyway. Kids crying because Shiny Gold didn't win, while they didn't even PLAY the other hacks. Like this one:

This is painful ...
That a hack like shiny gold lost against a hack based gsc ...
Painful painful ...

Thanks, but well you know, it doesn't really matter that much to me (Even though I typed up that lengthy speech because... I felt like it).

I always believed hacks shouldn't be about competition, but I do believe all hacks that have actual time and effort put into them should be given a fair chance. I was prepared to lose anyway, but I guess I didn't. Plus, it exposed the true colors of Zel, he was being all nice to others and telling everyone else to vote for other hacks because he was convinced (and everyone else) that he was going to win no matter what. He's pretty pissed in that post.

I was annoyed at the first stages of voting too, because there were several people who kept voting for Shiny Gold who never played the other hacks, and I wanted them to try all the hacks that had time put into them before voting and going "ZOMG SHINY GOLD RULZ IT DA BEST HACK IN DA UNIVERSE OMG!" I wasn't the only author annoyed by that.

It looks good for a demo, but like the others said, the enemy AI really needs to be worked out as well as several other things. For example, Jynx uses Lovely Kiss and puts me to sleep, but then it keeps using it over and over until I wake up, where it uses it again. Same with Flareon who keeps on using tail whip endlessly and doesn't even attempt to attack my Pikachu. I think the best until a better way is found, just make the enemy AI choose a random move to do. I don't know if it's just me though, but the game freezes when I talk to the GYM leader.

Also, with Dragonite, thundershock shouldn't be super effective since it's a dragon and flying Pokemon, both types should mix and should have no additional damage gain/loss. Red/Blue/etc. did it this way basing the total damage done on the second type if it interferes with the first, but it fixed in Gold.

Keep it up, and this will look awesome in the future.

...there are hack fanboys now?

Yes, Shiny Gold's popular. Some people on Pokecommunity have their user names based on Shiny Gold. Others upload shit loads of Youtube movies showing the character doing stuff like battling. These fanboys really don't know that there are OTHER hacks out there, not just other Pokemon hacks, but hacks of other GAMES. They just automatically assume Shiny Gold's the best there ever will be, which is not only insulting to me and the other 7 good Pokemon hackers out of 2754, but would be too to hackers everywhere.

The anime I grew out of quickly (after I was what, 12 years old?) but the games are classics and can appeal to any generation of people if they are willing to try them out.
