I think he's saying that it looks like the many SMW hacks that only change level structure without having any graphical changes. |

elbobelo: This thing looks really cool. I think the Simon you used fits perfectly with the other sprites. As far as ideas for other character's... I would love to see MegaMan in it. Samus Vs. Megaman would totally rock. |

@boingboingsplat: I agree, just give the grass a little highlight and I think it'll look great. Pretty good so far. |

If a hack of CV2 with the quality if your CV1 hack would be amazing!! |

It looks great though. Even if it's just worked on a little bit at a time it would still be worth it. There aren't enough hacks of CV2. More work on such projects might encourage the creation of better editors for it, too. |

Has this ever been done? or does anyone know of any document with a detailed description of how Simon was programmed? |

@blackhole89: I want to know the mechanics behind Simon so that I can recreate him exactly in GameMaker and possibly also edit an old hack of AjD I did way back when. This would include physics and anything else that involves Simon directly.
@Optomon: Thanks for the info. If, like in your CV hack, the main character isn't Simon or even a Belmont it would be cool to have altered physics. Also, I recall there being some GameGenie codes for altering Simon's jump height. Those may be helpful to some small degree as well. @Trax: That would make sense. So I guess I'll have to bite the bullet and learn some basic assembly. blech...! Had to happen some time I 'spose. Thanks for the input guys! =) |

That sounds like a good idea to start off while try to verify the exact values from the asm. Thanks! |

The CV1 editor stake has a patching system and that is one of the effects that it can enable. Thanks for reminding me about that! |

How about a sidestepper from Mario Bros.? It could be based on Rex's code except it always uses a 16x16 tile map, and it can't be stomped on. Also, it should change palette after being hit once to be more authentic.
Sound cool? |

Thanks. I'll play with that crab some and see where it goes. I'm not a disciple of asm so i'd need help with the palette change for sure.
On another note, has anyone ever been able to reproduce the level end sequences for the stages and castles from SMB1? |

... duh! I should have figured that out. Thanks alot!
For any who might be curious this is for a project I just started this week: Super Mario Bros. DX Remix My goal is to include every stage from SMB1, SMB2j, and SMB Special. |

@Ailure: To the best of my knowledge no one has ever combined all three into a cohesive game, and I don't know of anyone having done anything with Super Mario Bros. Special. Also, I'm doing because I think it'll be fun to try to do it myself.
@Smallhacker: Thanks for the info. I appreciate it. However, I DID read the help file, but obviously not thoroughly enough to find what I needed. Sorry. Also, I was already late for work so I just thought I'd ask. |

Actually, SMB2j has 5 extra worlds. But, I'll figure something out. SMB Special was a port/psuedo-remake made by Hudson for the PC-8801. Check it out:
