Just to let everyone know, as far as the mugs are concerned, I'm going to probably just end up using which ever ones I like the best out of all the submissions with due credit to the artists of course. Thanks for your efforts so far guys!

While I'm at it let me just say that I've pretty much got the text routine written out for the select screen. I just have to figure out where to insert it. That's proving to be troublesome, though.

A map system would rock.

Hells yeah! I'll definitely take that offer!

As for an ASM hack, how about adding more weapons or maybe even the wepon combo system that SM(M3) had?

I'm no one will mind if it takes a while. Your work on this has been amazing and inspiring so far! Since the last update you did I started learning 6502 ASM and began work on a MM5 hack of my own!

Thanks!

My grasp of 6502 ASM keeps getting better as I progress through this hack. I should have tried doing this years ago.

Next up:
I'm going to implement an intro stage! I think this will be much easier than the previous hack.

I did pick the same colors as the select screen on purpose.

If I changed the colors what would you suggest?

The Save / Load screens in MMPU are orange shades; I could do something with that. Also, I have a spare palette at the moment that I was going to use
for some fading white outline stuff like on the PSP version.

Here's another draft:

!!!Note Only going back to the Blue palette for the *Password Version* of the game, the *SRAM Version* will retain the orange palette and the screen will be configured differently.

Thanks guys!

I'm still learning ASM actually, so I'm doing everything one problem at a time so to speak. Well, I know all the basic op-codes I just need practice & this project has provided plenty already! =)

That's cool, there's no hurry.

I'm having a bitch of a time hooking (I don't think that's the right term for it) the start button press at the title screen so I can add in the intro level. It'll be a while before the next update because of this.

Edit: Since you mentioned the mugs... I was going to post some 32x32 down-sampled mugs I made from the "Complete Works" art. Do you want to check them out?

I don't think a company is technically steal art if it reuses stuff for a remake.

But anyway, I did mean for these to be for reference so here:

I'll add the others later, but this should give you a good idea about the type of thing I want.

Edit: added Gutsman. You don't need to make his jaw THAT big.

Edit: added Iceman. I should also mention that these are good representations of their personalities.

I think the entire argument of a fictional robot's colors being offensive because it recalls actors in black-face make up is absurd to a degree borderlining on lunacy... especially when the design is supposed to be reminiscent of a grease-monkey mechanic with oil all over his face.

Use the Japanese colors for now. In fact, do them up in whatever colors you want for now and I'll worry about adjustments later.

You've definitely got the right idea going for Fireman! that's just the kind of composition I'm looking for.
