Heh, Pekin. I was in Peoria myself.

There's a chance I might be near there someday but...you know.

Okay...

Well it definitely turned out differently than I had expected but I think this might lead to some interesting new truths. I had thought I had backed myself into a corner for something I wrote in Chapter 14 but it seems that it just led me to something that I wanted to write anyways.

So instead of being cryptic:

I'll just link you to the 15th chapter.

Hey, you guys actually read this stuff or what?

The perfect thread for me. I used to be hated, but am now mainly a lurker.

This had better be a joke account.

Hey, it's my five-year anniversary to this place and you have to rain in on my parade with your 18th birthday!

Damn you.

Oh well, happy 18th.

If you're planning on doing any "real gaming", sattelite is your worst option. You're probably looking at latency times >1000ms.

Dialup beats that, at least.

My best latency on 56K was around 190ms on my best connect of 49.2kbps (which translated to 5.66K down and 3K up).

My 26.4 can get around 200-400 at worst. Satellite does tend to suck unless you have the newer dual LNB connections that split their connections for upload and download on each seperate LNB and have very good upload on top of their download. The only problem is the service, as far as I know, currently goes around 100-120 bucks a month for the first 15 months if you don't pay 400 up front.

I'd rather wait for DSL.

Honestly, same can be said.

I would've expected the original to be a lot lamer. I mean it's lame to impersonate this lamer but not as lame as actually being the lamer itself because that's just plain lame and this is not as lame.

Yea.

You're supposed to turn off the music before you order.

Probably a little old but eh.

I have another one of those FOR Element. Take a look in the link in the first post.

Worst personal: About three years ago, I was driving down the hill on I-74 going towards Peoria over the bridge at 60MPH. There was some road construction being done so I began to brake a little bit when all of a sudden my hood flies up into my face. Got a few glass shard nicks out of it. I pulled to the side (I was on left in a 2-way, pulled right with mirrors) and took a look at the damage. The windshield was totaled, and was one of those large 600 dollar windshields to fix, if you did it. The top of the car was dented in from the oversized hood and the hood itself was crumpled to crap. I walked a mile or so for a phone. No one asked if I needed a ride.

Worst involved in: This was probably one of the weirder ones I've ever seen. If you didn't know, I've been biking to work recently because my vehicle was in the shop getting fixed. Well, I was going downhill to bike down to my apartment and, all of a sudden, I hear someone ramp over a speed bump on the hill HARD. I mean they must've been pushing about 40 in it and you're not really supposed to hit these things past 15, they're that big. I turn my head and there's this car that comes careening toward me honking and the only thing I said was 'fuckohshit' and I dive off with my bike to the right side, where I'm running off my bike and my bike crashes somewhere into the sidewalk. Guy throttles past, missed me (thankfully) and goes down the hill towards the square where the office is and where it dead ends into a court. He passed by several people playing basketball, who all dived off to the side, ramps the median and goes right into the woods. I should take a picture of it, it still exists since it happened recently and there's a large gape into the woods from what he left when he rolled. His car was destroyed; he was lucky to survive. Apparently his brakes failed and he was ramping things left and right (was probably up on something too, meth and pot is big locally) and he didn't have sense enough to engage the emergency brake. That was an interesting call to 911 that I've done twice since I've been here and have never had to in my life before I moved here. Oh well.

If your brakes are failing, chances are your emergency brake is out too. My friend had the same problem.

I figured that might have been a possibility, but the possibility of anyone in this town being on something while driving is equal. :\

Thread should be closed. No better.

Course we knew that over a year or two ago when that came out.

hear-you, though said as fast as possible...

That seems to be the most popular.

Ironically enough, that's also incorrect yet close. I'll just have to yank a sound sample soonish if no one gets it. :\

I always pronounced it "Her You".
Correct me if I am wrong though.

Another popular one.

And another no.

Guess no one knows the rule on that one. I was surprised too when I figured out the actual pronounce.

Eh, I won't let you guys dangle. :\ Kles was closest.

The 'r' isn't actually stressed as you would think it'd be. Last I checked, 'hiryuu' came out something like 'hee-lee-oo'. Check that out next time you play KOF '97 (or similar) and use Billy Kane. That or watch Ranma ½'s first movie with Ranma and Kirin at the end in the actual Japanese language. There are others, but those are the only two I can think of right now.

I didn't know 'r' was 'l' for a long time...but watch someone prove me wrong. :\
