not necessarily, you could tell your teammate what you're doing etc. And it'd just be fun to talk when playing with friends. Stuff like "did you see that?" and there's nothing wrong with a little friendly trash talk between friends.

also, todays update is that there won't be any until January 7th

And nowadays, there's really no excuse for the PAL delay. Due to severeal facts, such as PAL TV's supporting 60 hz. Infact, most TV's supports most combinations (PAL/NTSC at 50/60 hz) as it's cheaper to produce them that way nowadays.

And PC games usually are released worldwide at the same time.

Sometimes I wonder if they release it in a country at a time, so they can see how it fares in one territory, before releasing it into the next.

well, there is always additional translation like french, german etc. Furthermore Nintendo of Europe is not Nintendo of American and does their own localization, although, to be fair they should both recieve the material at the same time, instead of them recieving the north american version after it's released.

There is one advantage though as the Pal release is usually the most polished and bugfixed and sometimes has extra features like in the case of ICO.

what I wish is that we would get all the stages from SSB and SSBM, I still want the original Hyrule Castle, and the original, LONGER Great Fox, I mean I don't get why they give us stages like Yoshi Story in Melee when the two stages were near identical, or the Kirby stage, I really miss the long great fox, and it wouldn't hurt to see a few more of my favs from Melee in Brawl. It's not like they don't have the space

they released that information earlier than usual.

why would the characters be based on just 4 characters though?

that seems a bit limiting, what were the fighting wireframes based on in melee? they were unique right?

I'd say if anything these characters have a combination of moves from different characters.

Alastor wins. Boths in being much less of a jerk, and for actually having a lot more of a valid case.

And I will eat my Wiimote if Captain Falcon isn't in this game.

I didn't say captain falcon wasn't in the game, I said he wasn' t confirmed, and while I know he is going to be in the game, I just think it would be odd to have the 4 only fighting alloy peeps to just be 4 random characters off the roster. I have no trouble believing that the basic model is based on falcon but I doubt that it will be an exact falcon clone. As I already said I think they will have a combination of different characters moves. Basically, you could very well be right, but I find it a bit presumptious, and I'd be disappointed if it really was just a complete clone.

also considering how well pikmin sold, and how it's miyamotos babie next to animal crossing and all. I'm suprised we haven't seen a playable animal crossing character.

that pikmin song is great and all, but I'd love it if they had the main pikmin theme for the pikmin level (assuming there is one)

found here

http://www.fileden.com/files/2008/1/9/1688344/01._pikmin.mp3

and featured in this old youtube trailer

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MCH0MfDKH3M

furthermore, the japanese box art has been updated, they get a blue sky like in melee in the background but I think the US official boxart still has the vortex in the background

http://www.smashbros.com/jp/images/cat_menu/package.jpg

also check it out

http://www.smashbros.com/en_us/index.html

snake's final smash has him firing a grenade launcher with an aiming reticule FPS style from the rope ladder of a chopper.

yeah, I mean it's another one of Miyamotos new babies, we'll see. They might not think that they are nastolgic enough yet, Smash Bros does seem to be a lot about nastalgia, but we'll see soon enough I guess. I wouldn't be suprised.

-------EDIT---------

hey Alastor, sorry about being a bastard the other day, eh.

anyhow, Olimar actually uses pikmin a lot like in the pikmin game, it's pretty flipping awesome. I can't wait to get my hands on this one, you have to uproot pikmin from the ground to have them, and when you do your 3rd jump it's a longer chain if you have more pikmin

also many attack require them, so they are quite like the ice climbers only moreso.

also different pikmin have different attributes, and different terrain produce certain kinds of pikmin. Man, I want to see this in action, enough screenshots

random question, what is the most competitive SSBM tounament you guys know of on youtube?

So leaving oldschool gamer subcultures like ours out of consideration, in the future, the "3rd world" will play ancient 2D games while western gamers contribute to global warming with cooking plate/graphics card hybrids and Crysis. I see where this is going.

Though, who knows what the open source community will make out of that engine...

man their is a naive viewpoint I grew up in the third world, they don't wait for open source, they just pirate games, it's not like there is any law enforcement cracking down on them, the law has bigger problems.

also so this is just sim city right? not even sim city 2000? wow, it's been awhile since I've picked up the old one.

you're right, and you're wrong, I grew up in the country of Papua New Guinea, I spent my most of my years in the Eastern Highlands town of Goroka. The internet is crap, but it's there, I figure the entire country has like 1 T1 connection for everyone.

the country is diverse, there is everyone from people living off the land in huts to big coastal towns that are not quite first world but they are plenty modern.

it is a 3rd world country, technology has arrived, we live in the line of asian islands and coast from hong kong through the philipeans and indonesia, stuff is stolen, modified, and pirated, and sold in stores in our towns.

you can catch a ride into town and by VCDs (pirated movies on a video cd format, only I'd imagine they've upgraded to DVDs by now) for 10 Kina, that's roughtly 3 dollars.

there is plenty of legitimate merchandise too, don't get me wrong, in fact there is a lot, but when it comes to movies and gaming everything is modified and most likely copied to keep the price down. All PS2s are

modded, this is due to the fact that the only games sold are copied games.

there are some music cds too but cassette tapes are still a hot item.

heck, brian bell (big store in png) even has it's own website now

if you don't believe me have a look

http://www.brianbell.com.pg/AudioVisualPage.html

I live in America now, going to university, but be carefull who you stereotype, you never know when you're going to run into one. I know you didn't mean anything, but just because someone lives in a developing nation, and has a weak economy doesn't mean that they're technologically backward.

sorry, it's a touchy subject for me, I put up with a lot of presumptions because I come from a developing nation. On the flipside it's humorous to think that everyone over there are wonderful people who use open stuff only, because the sad truth is the new stuff isn't open, and in oceania (pacific-asian region) copied merchandise is pretty accesible.

that she is, and looking spicier than ever, and he did refer to her as a "her" for all the doubters.

well often times artists will do concept for all characters, so it's not that suprising that they had sketched up a TP Sheik.

yes, the delay is saddening, but hopefully they will take advantage of that, maybe a headset?

also check out this japanese trailer including the famous "how to play" that is on every smash bros game.

http://www.gametrailers.com/player/29714.html

also I don't know how long this has been there, but if you go to a character's profile on the site it lists all their basic moves and whatnot.

Zelda + Sheik's final smash is the light arrow I can' t wait to see what it looks like.

ZSS's final smash gets her back her power suit, I'm not sure how it damages the enemies.

Olimar and Pikmin Final Smash as seen in the trailer I linked too, sends him up into space with his spaceship while the beasts ravage everyone left on the level, it's more effective with big groups, but someone might steal your KO. With only one enemy you don't inflict as much total damage, but no one will steal your KO.

This just in, stickers give stat bonuses in Subspace Emissary mode, and the peasants rejoice.

If that's not reading into things then I don't know what is, even if he's not in the game I doubt that this was any intentional sign.

there have been rumors for awhile about the clones getting cut, but I guess time will tell. Maybe he could have his own moveset, (doubt it though) and it'd be nice to have a genuine unique ganondorf or ganon.

I guess we'll see pretty soon, it won't be much longer till it's out in Japan.

Who the heck is this?

Spoiler:
His name is "Taboo"... I'd guess he's an original character.

that's preposterous, there are no original characters in a compolation game like this except for the fighting polygon/wireframe/brawl team.

if it's REAL, then it is just from an obscure game.
