hmm, ok I guess, I'm not too excited, but I'm probably not going to use final smashes most of the time anyways. I just thought it would be cool it they added the steel keg from Donkey Kong Country as an item and you could jump on top of them and do the thing where you are running in place on top of the barrel just like in Donkey Kong Country.

All I meant with the starfox example (like I said, not the best example) is that just because a character isn't realistic doesn't mean that they aren't detailed, that is a myth, imaginary creatures in art have tons of detail all the time, take dragons for instance.

half the fun of this game is retroness, they could update everything, but it wouldn't have the same feeling. true it doesn't take as much work, but I wouldn't call them lazy, this kind of thing is really popular with some folks

I like how you can stand on the landmaster and not get hurt unless its moving or firing. This could prove to be great for when you're not fighting but just screwing around.

It would really rock if smash bros had a video recording mode, and maybe an editing mode too, it just really would. a LOT. Really.

tonight's update is bigger than normal, or not, depending on how you look at it.

TEAM PLAY

this is co-op in the new adventure mode. The camera follows player one but if player 2 gets left behind they can teleport back to player 1. They did point out though that you can't cheat, if you get hit out of the camera, you lose a stock.

So yeah, co-op, that already rocks, but the whole adventure mode even has it's own map (like Soul Calibur or something)

also, even in single player adventure mode (subspace emissary) you must select a team of characters, you are only allowed so many deaths per level, and when you die you are replaced by your teammate ala King of Fighters.

also the highest difficulty level is now called "intense" I wonder if it's even harder than usual.

the Adventure/Story mode looks really fleshed out this time, I like seeming them spend more time on this stuff, it's cool.

Yeah, i saw them but didn't post the update, usually the other guys are fighting each other to get it done first but lately not so much. Anyways, good job on posting the update, I actually like the US version of Ashley's theme better than the jap one, that's kind of a first, I wonder if all characters will have different voices when you switch the region.

Yah-Yah Yah Yah Yah (live and learn music) ah this is great, they even have him beating up mario, I can hear the fanboys now. And of course, his final smash is Super Sonic. TOO COOL.

am I crazy or in the segment right after the opening in shadow moses with mario does it show him hitting tails for a split second?

there is also an overall so far video, this game is the biggest fan service EVAR, bigger service that halo 3 even.

about the voices, I know they said 10 voices, but I wonder if in the american region we will have access to all of those, and if that means text AND vocal. I know in melee everyone spoke english except for like the guys from fire emblem and maybe a few others (it's late, and I'm thinking about Sonic)

Anyways, what a night eh?

Why not Psycho Mantis?

HELL YES

that is all

.... ok I lied, since you guys are like the people who check up on smash bros the most, how is THIS for a good pad to play Brawl with

I mean sure it's 3rd party, but the reason I would take this over the wavebird is because it's still wireless but it's got rumble, moreover it's got the classic controller button configuration.

it also has slow and turbo modes, programmable keys, and is supposed to last battery-wise as long as a wiimote.

I know i'm picking one up for some serious Brawl ass whipping, and I'll prolly use it a lot for virtual console too.

oh yeah its from Thrustmaster and it's called the T-Wireless NW

they call it a wii controller but it's just a glorified gamecube gamepad as it plugs into the gamecube port and I'm sure for things like rumble etc. is read by the system as a gamecube gamepad.

I guess the true test would be to see if you can control the wii menu with it as you can with a Wii Classic Controller. If it couldn't then it's just a gamecube pad, but still a sweet devise for handing out pain in smash bros.

Final Fantasy XII - Now, its not that bad of a game, but it was so over hyped, that I think it killed the game a little inside. I normally finish any RPG that I started (save for a few that I didn't like), but after a while, I just didn't play it anymore and went on to something else.

yeah, it was lack luster

Posted by 61htaeD_rD
I realize it isn't a sequel of any kind, but Final Fantasy VII is a disappointment to me.

me too, at this point they should have made it be it's own series rather than trying to call it a final fantasy game, Cyber Finale would have worked.

I consider Secret of Evermore a sequel engine-wise to secret of mana, and that was one of the most dissapointing games I've bought.

yeah, funny thing is that the developers were making their own thing when Square of Japan told them to put parts of Mana in there, it wasn't even called secret of evermore at first, but just "evermore" and didn't contain the same battle and menu system as Mana originally. On top of that I actually played evermore first so I got to enjoy it for just being it. I think it's a great game but everyone just had false expectations of it being a mana storyline but the alchemy system was great.

Super Mario World

I played Super Mario Bros. 3 back then a lot, and I mean a lot. Had nice physics, complicated scrolling levels, interesting enemies, the koopalings and of course the suits.
Super Mario World had Yoshi. No Suits, not so nice koopalings, for me stupid boss fights, no 'reserve' and the music was inferior, just the same tune differently mixed up.

Nowadays I like Super Mario World, learned to love it. But Super Mario Bros. 3 is my personal gem of 2D Jump 'n Runs!

totally agreed, World was maybe half as good as SMB3 and it's still awesome!

Donkey Kong Country 3

Well, DKC is one of my favorite games ever. I remember we had it back in the day (I was only like 6 ) Anyways, then i played DKC 2 and it was awesome as well, the same greatness of DKC, but more of a 'spooky/dark' theme, which was great. Then when i found emulation , i played them in order, and the 3rd one sucks so horribly compared to it's predecessors. Baby what's his face is fuckin gay, and it seemed too childish and was just plain retarded imo. It was a huge letdown to me.

yeah, that's because it was made by the B-Team, no joke, the rare A team went on to work on N64 so DKC3 was a new team and ended up being a kind of rehash and lost the style and substance. They were working with better prerendered technology though so some of the visuals were more realistic.

Yoshi's Story
What would be a great sequel to Yoshi's Island was ruined by the too-easy gameplay and final boss. Collecting fruit instead of actually completing levels is bad.

Donkey Konga/2
A poor man's DDR with cheap plastic bongos. Yipee.

Wario Ware Touched!
Weakest installment of the series. It had the least amount of micros and they were too similar from within a specific genre.

Yeah, Yoshi's Island totally killed Story.

Konga 1 and 2 are crap but you should seriously check ouf DK3 that was japan only, I actually played it first on a tour in japan and I enjoyed it so much, it has more nintendo game tunes, more visualizations and is much closer to Taiko Drum Master which is essentially what it is a rip off of. When I came back to the states I bought DK1 and was like "This is a pile of steaming crap!" you should seriously check out DK3 though

Yeah, Wario Ware Twisted is still the best IMO, touched certainly isn't near as good.

I think most people who disliked Cross do so because they waited 4 years for something like Chrono Trigger 2, and they got Jibber jabber: A (bad) remake of radical dreamers.

1) you were actually expecting a sequal? I was totally surprised when I heard about Cross

2) what the fuck does everyone have against Radical Dreamers? I wish the game was longer I actually like the character art better than in Cross.

So why does everyone hate RD so much?

Also Chrono Cross isn't a bad game, but while it rips a bunch of stuff off of Radical Dreamers, it is NOT the same thing, they change a LOT from character look, character personality, and overall plot of the game. I'd call it more of a reimagining than a remake, especially considering that more of the original chrono team was involved with RD than with Cross.

Hardly that easy if you go for score like I did, and try to collect every melon in some levels. A rather frustrating experience as some levels have parts where you can messup badly... but yes, the game lacked the depth Yoshi Island had.

yeah, if you get all the right fruit and beat every level it requires patience but it doesn't give you anything for all your work, it's just not that fun.

Yeah I don't get why people dislike RD. At first it was a letdown for me, but that's because it wasn't translated back then. I wouldn't say the character art is better than Cross, but I'd say that RD is the best game of the Chrono series.

Specially character personality. Serge went from being a kickass guy to retarded I-can't-talk faggot. Shame.

I didn't say the character art was better, only that I liked the look better, especially how serge looked COMPLETELY different.

yeah, Serge was more compelling because you got to make all the choices so he was still your character but you were inside his head and he felt a lot more real. I liked Kid better too. there was just more personality it felt.

It'd be awesome if they put the sonic song "Sonic Boom" in there. That's the best sonic theme song!

Also update, you can take pictures anytime you have it paused now, and all the framing options are there in the normal pause screen menu.

Also if you are near the E for All expo it's not the little nothing show that the press has been making it out to be because it will be the first public playable build of smash bros.

I wish I was going

but I can wait till spring.

He said they're going to have stuff locked up for the demo but that they might unlock sonic (even though he's prolly a secret character) just because so many people will want to go hands on with him.

There's already footage up of it on IGN. Sonic's playable.

learn to READ. I said public, not press. there is actually a difference.

also yay for the announcement of another big level. I was getting worried what with the level structures usually being

1 large flat surface

1 small surface with 3 platforms (or something similiar)

and 1 platform floating throught the level

having a larger stationary level to leap about will be nice.

Which makes me wonder, with all the space on a DVD, will they bring back levels from the other games? will they give any a face lift?

Well the Stadium is back, along with the Home Run Contest.

but now there is a shield surrounding the area so you can create new combos and you and the sandbad don't annoyingly fall off on accident, you have to SMASH him to break through

you can also now do co-op with to characters in their together

or take turns at competitive

you can also do both those modes online by selecting - With Friends.

He's way out of his element here

a boxer in a fighting game???!?!?!?
Of course, how silly of me. He, a semi-realistic boxer, fits perfectly in a game populated by giant turtles, living balloons/marshmallows/(whatever the hell Kirby is), plumbers who can shoot fireballs, futuristic bounty hunters, and anthropomorphic hedgehogs who can all jump a good 40 feet in the air for no apparent reason.

I will concede that Little Mac would work as a character if you accept that Mike Tyson would fit in just as well.

he's no more realistic than snake, that seems a lame argument, a boxer in the game would be awesome.

Wavedashing is a Melee relic and it better stay that way.

Besides, if you wanna use a glitch to play the game, you can do it on an obsolete console.

or you could play melee on the wii seriously though it isn't a big deal because even if it stayed, the new elements in the game and rebalancing would change things anyways, we all knew this, and wanted an upgrade or we would just be content with melee.

more than target test, you can record up to 3 min of game data and trade it with friends.

I think I will set a time limit of 2:50 or 3:00 to all of my fights because of this I think so I can always know I can replay every cool thing in a battle and never lose an awesome moment. I bet you could prolly back em up on your SD cards too,

The way I'll do it is wait till I have an awesome replay and then just back em up on my SD card, I have beein waiting for video replay in smash for a LONG time.

This is so cool albiet limited by the Wii's lack of harddrive.

it has an autocam and plays pretty well, go down to your local gamestop or EBGames, the thing with sunshine is you had to control the camera yourself most of the time.
