yeah, the adventure mode with a more real story would be cool. And having the levels actually resemble the games more, like have the mario level actually be a mario bros level, have the metroid level play like a metroid game. have the zelda segment play like Zelda II. it would just make it all seem more authentic I think.

@Skreeny

that would explain it, never played mario part 7, hardly played any mario party really.

I might be getting a Wii in the near future, if I do I'll let you know and not update it till we get to play around a bit, you'll have to let me know what to do WHEN I do get it.

Anyways, so I'll let you know when that happens.

The fact that they used "recovering" as an update is kind of a ripoff. Anyone who ever played or watched this game knows to recover...

And Mario was not that good. I think. I hope they don't make some characters improve and some don't.

they are going to keep adding those strategies, even if a lot of people know them, get used to it. Ever since the first post where they showed that hitting an enemy sent them flying higher and higher I knew. It's just like the "How to play" demo on the begining of every smash game.

@sonicandfails

where do you figure mario is "not supposed to be a good character"? he's basically been the most versitile character for any given situation in the past two games. But either way all characters are balanced, you just need to know how to use them correctly.

Go do a google video search and you'll find that if you have good timing you can do some pretty amazing saves even in melee. I'm not saying that the recovery distance is exactly the same, but I'm sure they are balancing all characters out.

I don't know, I guess they could balance Melee more, but I think a lot of what is seen as "off balance" is really depth and different strategy.

the dupicate characters in one instance are actually a god send to me, I will use marth if I am fighting against slower people, and roy if against faster. I think if anyone spends enough time with a character they can learn a superior strategy, it just takes more time because you have to learn how fast they are in every aspect, like their jump, standard attack, etc.

don't over analyze folks, it was just a trailer.

I figure they are two seperate characters, and I'm going to hold to that theory. Yeah I want to see a classic mario bros (arcade) and a classic donkey kong (arcade) styled levels, and a paper mario one would be cool but I doubt it unless they are going to have LOTS of levels (which would be cool) It'd be neat if they ported all the levels from the previous two games since they have the space on the disk.

I like the sliding boxes, it may seem insignificant but it's that little stuff that really adds depth to the game.

well everyone, bask in Zelda's glory, the question is, will there be a Sheik? or are we going full Twilight Princess here? How sad, that duo was my number one player in Melee, as was Link in the original Smash bros before they made his bombs weaker in the second one.

In any case Zelda looks nice, and she looks powerful, no complaints here, I'm surprised no one else has posted on the FIRST NEW NEW CHARACTER TO GRACE THEIR SITE.

here here, I like the music updates, I'd take music and video updates over items anyday, the items do me no good till I can play the game but the music samples I can listen to right now.

true zelda wasn't in SSB but link was, they wouldn't have a level without ANY character from that game, or at least they haven't done that yet besides like battlefield etc. which are very clearly smash or nuetral stages, not stages of characters not present in the game.

that's weird about zero suit, I guess she isn't as accesible as I thought, I wonder how different her moveset really is? you really need to master two characters just to play like with Zelda and Shiek.

you could look at it as a game mode and trophies.

OR you could use your head and realize that this is the story of Smash Bros. it HAS been the story since the beginning, the trophies come to life, like in the intro movie in the first two games.

it's not just a game mode with trophies. This is the story of Smash Bros folks, has been in the last two games anyways, trophies coming to life and fighting each other. In the first game they were more like toy dolls, this is why the final boss is always the hand.

I agree, I really like what they are doing with the depth of the game and the combat, especially with arial stuff.

the real team is working on Devil May Cry, I will care more when RE6 is made, by the studio that I like. It's like Call of Duty 3 and 4 all over again.

Don't get me wrong, I'll play it, but I'm not THAT hyped, it really looks a lot like RE4, which isn't bad, but isn't necessarily new either. it just doesn't seem as freaking amazing as RE4 was when it came out originally.

it wouldn't be that hard for them to do visually, but to make sure there is some element of balance would be a pain in the butt.

Eh? If you're in a smoke cloud, sure, they know where you are, but they don't know what you're doing. If they run in and try to hit you, they may alternately be hit by a projectile, or a jumping attack, or what have you. With invisibility, you see what they're doing just fine, since it's always much easier to see them when they're making an action.

if you think that all the pro japanese players aren't already drooling over the possibilities this item opens up then you simply aren't seeing it's full potential like the rest of us. It's a very slight thing, but in serious matches can have a heavy impact.

also, that kid icarus theme... I'm in love.

You know, the best player in the world is not Japanese.

Just throwing that out there.

Also, they don't play with items.

So.

I know that, I'm not an idiot, I was just remembering the audience reaction to new features at the starcraft II unveiling in Korea, they were on the edge of their seat for every subtle addition.

also, just because people don't use items in tournaments doesn't mean they NEVER use ANY items.

just like speratic movement can confuse opponents in previous installments in the series, this item will be the same in Brawl

@firepheonix: the problem with items in tournaments is that they are too random, allowing too much chance for victory from luck. Furthermore many items cause too much damage, can be exploited, or are considered just plain cheap. Never-the-less there are plenty of weapon masters, and there is nothing wrong with that. Personally I play with a high amount of melee weapons like the laser sword. This way all combatants have equal chance but you still have more options. As far as stock vs. time, why not play bonus (e.g. the way the game calculates your score in arcade mode) that way you are penalized for running away from the fight and rewarded for being in the fray

Diddy Kong, all right, they better have his cartwheel move from the Donkey Kong Country games, also if he ran and jumped like in those games it would be excellent.

starts feud

no freaking way man, I'd take Dixie over K. Rool ANY day.!

no seriously though they'd prolly add a villian first anyways, oh cruel fate.

Man, I just have to say it, I love Smash Bros like no game deserves to be loved. It's like one giant fan service after the next, and a damn good brawler too.

What the hell? Is he breathing fire?

Oh and Diddy's nice, too, I guess. Maybe his final smash will be to lead a plethora of hovercraft, cars and airplanes through the battlefield. Props to anyone who gets it.

actually that would be more like a funky kong final smash

as for Yoshi, EXCELLENT, somebody remembered his Super Mario World stuff, thank GOODNESS. I thought it would be something sad like him getting super happy like when he gets the right fruit in Yoshi Story, this is INFINITELY better.
