Give it a try... sound's like an "escape" kind of level doesn't it? If not, put your thinking caps on. There's a use for everything.

Just look at the "Joke Hacks." They use horrible clasing ExGFX and people download and play them, don't they? It's just for fun, Aipom...

And did you listen to ANY of them?

Dont you realise due to the space of SMW music bank and the fact that only spc format music can be ported that the ff7 music is impossible?

insectduel didn't make it. I started it and SSM finished it, although not very well ._.'

Mattrizzle, you fucking rock. Seriously. I appreciate so much that it's finally possible to have SMB2 music in a hack! Do you think it would be possible to insert some of this music into games that already have SMB1&3 music?

And about filling in the rest of the tracks...

Yoshi's Island - Make Eggs
Yoshi's Island - Cave
Yoshi's Island - Castle
Yoshi's Island - Hop hop

And F-Zero Mute City & Big Blue would just be lol

I have to agree with Pac, those songs should be what goes in there as extra, hearing the same overworld music for every level is nuts, same with underground and castles and ghost houses.

So, let us know when your done adding what ever as extra.
This is exactly what i need for my Toad hack i have been working on for i do not know how long.
I quit working on it because of my dislike of the music available.

You canot fit those themes into your hack. They are too long and/or dont loop enough and use to many instruments or instruments that SMW doesent have.
I can understand importing alot of music into YI due to the large music bank(They made copies of songs in the music bank 0_o.Strange but true....)But SMW is shitty, errr i mean very very very awsome and does not have a big music bank.

Um, yeah.. whatever.

Anything is possible as i see it in the realm of hacking.

He already put some songs in it, if he has the knowlage he can fit more.

Then if not those songs, something close.
I just do not see final fantasy music or a lot of other music mentioned , working well with what is there already.

What else is there?
I mean, their is already a patch for SMB3 music.

That is becuase SMAS uses the same music format as smw and technicly since there was a smas+world, the music can be imported easily due to both smw and smas being in the same game

Yeah, I know about the lack of variety in the SMB2 music. I was actually thinking about adding the SMB underground music and altering it to make it sound like the SMB2 prototype underground music.
To anyone who's reading this: I need more ideas for what to put in those repeated slots, as well as more map screen music.

Here's an incomplete list of games that use the N-SPC engine:
Arkanoid: Doh it Again
F-Zero
F-Zero 2
Kirby's Dream Course
Kirby Super Star
The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past
Mario Paint
Sim City
SNES Test ROM
Star Fox
Stunt Race FX
Super Mario All-Stars(of course)
Super Mario Kart
Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island
Super Metroid
Super Scope 6/Nintendo Scope 6
Tetris & Dr. Mario
Tetris 2+Bombliss
Yoshi's Cookie
Yoshi's Safari

Games which use a cryptic variant of the N-SPC format:
Panel de Pon/Tetris Attack
Pilotwings
Super Mario World

Look in that list and well.. yeah.. just look in there.
Why would he put it in the list if he can not use it?

Those are the games with the N-SPC format, not games that can import into smw.

back on topic:
what scurrent progres? How much % is finished?
I am anxious to try it out!

Name is a rip off of Conker's Bad Fur Day^^^

I havn't made much progress yet with this YI hack, but I will be posting screenies of graphic edits I have made so far soon.
The story goes like this:
The eviel fuzzy lord has stolen the super happy tree (of porn)
Yoshi must combat the fuzzy lord and recover his tree.
I am aiming for a YI version of Conker's bad fur day with cute charactors doing "mature content related" things.
I am also planning to change as much graphics as possible, so unlike other YI hacks such as KR, I am trying to make this unique with major graphical edits.

SCREENIES!!!!!!!!!!
Note:This level is a TEST LEVEL

I thought this pic looked good.

I managed to implement a Classic Goomba

They work!

And after you stomp on them, they disintegrate into thin air, thus leaving nothing behind.

note:I will be graphically improving the SMW tileset eventually to fit YI style since people claimed they didn't like it, but please understand YI's graphics are very hard to work with and making a tileset with YI's non-default graphics is very difficult because of how YI uses automatic details.
Those who have hacked YI before will see what I mean because you just stretch boxes and YI does automatic detailing.

It might be just me being tired after work, but I burst into laughter when I read the fifth row of your post.
Nonetheless, it looks very good so far. Simple graphical implementations can make a great hack, and you've just proven it..!
To make the SMW ground look like YI, you should make the outline thicker and the inside dirt a little bit gushier.

The Goomba looks awkward without his eyebrows though, but otherwise it looks really great.
Keep it up!

To be honest, it is actually a marching milde, however, if someone makes a ram/rom map of Yoshi's Island, it may be possible for the YI goombas to behave like classic goombas rather than a milde.

I have see a bit of fire emblem hacks floating around the internet lately.
Fire Emblem is one of my favorite franchises and I have always wanted to hack an rpg other than the overrated pokemon and final fantasy.
I figured since Fire Emblem doesn't take much scripting crap, I should try it out.
I went to google but failed to find any forums or tools and such relating to Fire Emblem 7 hacking.
Anyone got info on Fire Emblem 7 hacking?

I am sorry if I broke the rules by asking a question, but this is the only forum I can get general rom hacking information on.

Wow, Nightmare is a pretty nifty tool.
Now how would I edit dialog and chapter names?
Would I go into a hex editor and teach myself the language for the dialog?
Would I also search for the graphics in a tile editor?

It would appear those can only modify what would be considered databases in RM2k terms, i.e. character stats or what-not... it's a shame that this is, often enough, as far as RPG hacking goes. Somebody should make a proper map/scenario editor for a Fire Emblem game (or another similar tactics one, on that matter).

Making an editor takes a very long time.
If anyone ever does make a map editor in the future though, I WILL appreciate it :3
Until then, I guess I wont be able to make my Golden sun themed Fire Emblem hack XD

Gah, I cant believe nobody else knows the problem >______<
The star music is NOT glitched. It is merely switched with an alternative star music inside the smb1 music patch.
You want the star music previously in the smb3 music patch, right?
I remember seeing an offset you could change for it, but I forgot what it was.

To translate his question in an understandable format:
"Can someone point out what you do to get the star music from the smb3 music patch into the smb1 music patch?"

Haha, I remember that song. The SMAS patch version of it is somewhat better, but also sounds somewhat messed up too.

I hope I am not highjacking the thread, but I would like to know the solution to put back the rock(smb3) version of star music as well.
I remember seeing the offset somewhere.
Maybe it was on the old smwcentral.

It'd be interesting for a forum about home brew.
I'd always like to get the opinions from people on P S P home brew and such.

Ever since I reformatted my computer, I was never able to find that "Fixing room 120" site for master quest debug.
Can anyone please point me out to it?
I don't know if it should be in this topic or not, however, it requires patches, so I guess it would.

A YI remake of smw is IMPOSSIBLE due to the limitations of smw's tile system and graphics.
Still, if it can be pulled off, its be nice kind of...interesting.
