correction:durarara!!

its a saving grace amongst numerous train wrecks (the boring disgusting type not the grotesquely interesting)

i appreciate how they bring out the individualism of each character, without messing up the plot coherence or the character development as well as playing around with the order of events without too many notable anachronisms.

It isn't like this is a political voting to elect the people who shall govern board2 for the next four years. The Mosts are just an ancient tradition that's basically about fun and communicating one's perception of the others (and, perhaps, also an opportunity to get back on them or vent amassed frustrations ) through the months since the previous ones. The whole point of the ritual kind of stands and falls with as many people as possible voting, so even if you are a newbie - especially if you are a newbie - you should vote. We old farts expect you to.

so its like the presidential elections

For some reason, this thread sadtabs in Chrome. Going straight to newreply, however, works. I wish there was a non-annoying way of debugging what exactly is happening...

In other news, I'm forcing myself to learn to play this. (Watch it if you haven't; it's fabulous.) It's somewhat way above my level, but I kind of managed to get to play it up to ca. 0:20 in that video (although not quite as securely) in 2hours+something of work.

As of late, I am quite fond of Kawai Kenji's orchestral (emphasis on cellos) renditions of higurashi musics

i was thinking of posting some tidbits of general audience-level physics and maths stuff but i'm not sure anyone would be interested--these days people just want things that are practical and real life. Debate threads usually fizzle and i don't know what to think about the general forum and spatula. in a romhacker-saturated community, i guess none of these things are very relevant compared to gaming, hard/software and internet memes that i no longer keep track of.

although jul has a lot of general forums, it still gives the feeling of a very niche community and there's a sort of ingroup bias reflected by the invective towards the outside world at large, its isolation and ultimately a sort of discommunication and disembodiment. if being part of a community means accepting such norms and practices, then i'd rather not be a member of a community.

of course i might be wrong about everything, and niche communities might be the way to go (along with stuff like facebook/twitter like emuz said), but i feel disheartened by the loss of a locus for meaningful general discussion; a future in which people of the same language generally cannot find any common ground to converse in unless they all belong to one of these niches seems dismal to me.

Morality with atheism... this is what I have.

Basically, those who act morally without any external reason are truly better people than those who act kindly only because they fear punishment or expect a reward.

Basically, I reject the ´carrot´ or ´stick´ model. I simply do things because they are the right things to do.

Am I arrogant to believe I know what is right and what is wrong? Maybe, but those who believe an invisible holy being gives them goodness are even more arrogant.

What sort of morals and value system do you have? it just seems to be the generic Randian utilitarianism which is hardly commendable.

Sounds like every generic platformer from that era. Ridiculously hard and unfair either because they're just unbalanced or to compensate for being horribly short.
