[...the original Kirby for Gameboy pales by comparison to the later games, since you can't copy enemies' abilities and all...

Wait, copying abilities was a late addition?

...
...
...
...damn.
Yep.

...infact Kirby was just a placeholder character, that the creator decided to eventually keep. Kind of funny too, as some of the monsters are in the first game... but Kirby don't have any of his abilities. There's some powerups that give Kirby temporary power, I think it was supposed to be some chili dish. xD

...which is in Brawl.

Just finished the easy version... one of the best hacks i've ever played.
The weapons are excellently done, the music and graphics are amazing, and I cant wait to finish the hard version...
Spoiler:
That GAME OVER! message seemed a little suspicious...

From hanging out in the SMWCentral IRC channel, I'm pretty sure the reason SMWC was killed was because of "stupid people" which is, in my opinion, a pretty stupid reason to kill a rather popular site.

Being the SMW dork that I am (read: forum title) I have something that may please some of you.

http://www.megaupload.com/?d=QO9U37F0

That is from my personal collection. It is a mostly full file database from SMW Central. It has every hack (including a ton of moderated ones that got deleted), all of the custom blocks, all of the tools (Lunar Magic, Blocktool, etc), some of the ExGFX, all of the patches (1 Player only, Classic Fireball, etc), and all of the custom sprites. The only thing I never got around to getting was the custom music since I tend to play Super Mario World with sound turned off anyway.

If the file dies let me know and I'll upload it again. I hope this helps some of you out.

Does that include those japanese ones you said you had? Or that other one one?

Don't mind the shitty font (5 minutes in YY-CHR) nor the blue bottom rows (copying one byte too few D:).

You did it... but I never saw a point to a VWF in SMW anyway

What an intresting thread? Mind if I join in...?

Situation: You are inside a large cave. The entrances have all been sealed, and the cave itself is very large, and submerged under an ocean's worth of water. There is also a teleporter, but it is broken, and unable to be fixed. The oxygen levels in the cave are slowly depleting, but will last a long time. In the cave with you, is a catgirl, and both of you must escape alive (Ha!). Neither of you have any special powers, abilities, or so forth at all, including but not limited to any of those that can help you escape. The oxygen will not last long enough to build a tunnel, and there is nothing in the cave that is of any immediate use except for a shovel, an oxygen tank, and a box full of kitchen utensils. Digging deeper underground will result in reaching water, which you can swim through, but you cannot hold your breath long enough to reach the surface.

Overexplanation is the best form of hiding a solution in a puzzle.
As stated, neither of you have any special powers, abilities, or so forth at all, including but not limited to any of those that can help you escape. The catgirl must accompany you in your escape, for some currently unexplained reason, and the teleporter cannont be fixed, nor does it lead anywhere. All realistic physics and movement models apply, so no godmode on and walk through walls or any stuff like that. Now, let's see you try to complete this overcomplicated puzzle!! Bwahaha!

Uh, I read the first page of the thread, and it was mostly "Damn, Shiny Gold didnt win, but Prism was better than/as good as (In relation to the "There should've been a GBC and GBA award" posts) it anyway." kinda posts, so this seems kinda out of proportion. Then again, there were a few "OMG Shiny Gold didnt win this shit wuz rigged!!!11" posts that I saw, so...

Really, Shiny Gold is just a shiny remake of gold set within the limitations of the Fire Red engine, because nobody seems to be able to try hacking in some of Gold's more 'advanced' features (Clock, day to night cycle, actual radio (Why doesnt Zel just edit the Teachy TV scripts into generic TV shows in the radio station or something? Yeesh...), real phones (Replace 'Teachy TV scripts' with 'VS Seeker scripts' and 'generic TV shows in the radio stations' into 'phone conversations' for the above, or maybe just some ASM reprogramming?), and various other features that really made Gold and Silver stand out.) and making the remixes sound good (The edited songs are ten times louder than the originals and they make my ears hurt. Enough said).

Whereas Prism is a WHOLE NEW GAME. Full of assembly, text, and graphical hacks, breaking the limitations of the original, and ending up with an awesome, fun game without resorting to cheap tricks (Well, okay, it does have it's fair share of obvious plot devices that dont make much sense, but these can be ignored.) or half-assed feature remakes!

Whew, that was a long rant. Heh...

Are there any large diffrences between the chips? For example, the SFX can do polygons (as seen in the above games). The SA-1 does... other stuff, but is used in Super Mario RPG. Really, if the SA-1 is easier to use, and can do better stuff then the SFX, then just use that.

Copyfack is worthless. Forking is covered by the regular copyright rules, according to the Wikipedia article I read earlier today to confirm that "1989-2008" is wrong.

In your own words, "the scripting dictionary it uses" is from 1989. This is not the actual CHASM product itself, which is from 2008.

If CHASM had an earlier version in say, 1999, you'd state "copyright 1999, 2008".

If you actually want to have a valid copyright statement, use "Copyright 2008 [your name]" OR "© 2008 [your name]". Anything else we are pretty much free to flip off and ignore.

Not that anybody in their right mind would honestly want to copy -or- fork CHASM

burn

You forgot the 'Ooh,' bit that comes before, so I'll say it again.

Ooh, burn.
