My advice is to erase all the level and enemy data (or actually, relocate it to an expanded area in your rom) and use that space for needed bank swaps. Honestly, I would suggest using sprites instead of tile animated rain. Sprites move with the screen, you can have the rain change direction and it prevents the effect where the rain is miscolored on some tiles.

Level data to WRAM? Sounds like a good idea. But I should use MMC5 or something to use for levels.

There are the limited number of sprites that are used ($0200-$02FF) and the NES allows only 8 sprites per scanline unless you use an emulator that disables the 8 sprite per scanline.

First off, before I explain this hack guests. There are rules when you download ROM-hacks from Insectduel.

Rules and Insectduel's Terms of Service
READ IN UNDER THESE CONDITIONS BEFORE HOSTING MY HACKS WITHOUT MY PERMISSION:

(1) You MUST include every readme along with the zipped copy of the patch.

(2) When you upload the patch to anyone's site, you MUST upload it as a .zip file!
**(That was pretty clear in rule #1, but I just wanted to make it a separate rule.)**

(3) You must NEVER edit anyone's readme IN ANY WAY!

(4) All ROM hack patches may not be distributed as a pre-patched rom, or included with a rom collection of any sort.

(5) You may not sell anyone's ROM Hack for profit without authorization from the author.

(6) Taking a copy of an .IPS Patch and re-host it as a ROM in your ROM Sites is considered stealing, illegial, and violation of the game maker's copyright (Insectduel) and the orginal copyright game owner (Nintendo, Capcom, Sega, etc).

This summer I will work on series 3 that stars Princess Daisy and Peach and be more creative on my own levels this time. For those of you who never saw my first series hack may download it here. I'm hosting the second one to RHDN shortly. Not too many people like the first one anyway.

Good to hear you are back here. But the problem about the hack is that GFX look terrible. Did you use Tile layer? Or too lazy (no offense)

You should really use YY-CHR as it is more flexable (and easier) than TLP. The terrible GFX ripped like that is why i moved from TLP to YY.

The levels are OK. I can create a better GFX hack (Maybe SMW characters)

I would like to know where the table for what every single metatile acts like. I still could not figure out where it is. Also, Jasp needed the same thing I wanted.

Quoted by Jasp in Another Forum:
____________________________________________________

Well I think there is a table somewhere describing how each tile will behave in the game (that's how I got certain question blocks to behave like coins someday) but I'm not sure it exists for every single tile in the game; you might want to ask DahrkDaiz, he is far more knowledgable about all this

I know why the L and stuff is locking up your game, If you go to $200 in the RAM in FCEUXD or NNNESTERJ, You will see that editing it will also lock up the game, Therefore, It uses Sprite 0 (just like SMB1) for the Status bar.

That is why I tried to add an IRQ to SMB using 4-screen Mirroring, But adding an IRQ is too hard for me, Because the routine that NESDEV gave me does not work.

(and if possible, I could give SMB2USA using SMB3's statusbar stuff, But as with above, It's too hard for me to implent)

And just for the note, It could be the 1st SMB hack uses IRQ in the status bar, I might put it in the original SMB1, But with ATA in the credits.

I can also possibly EMAIL him about it, just in case

I have some very obscure hacks that are incomplete.

Kid Kool graphics hack - Super Dr. Mario
Nuts and Milk asm hack - Donkey Kong 2
Shadow of the Ninja gfx hack - Castlevania style
Mighty Final Fight graphics hack - Converting into Ranma 1/2
Little Magic ASM hack - 8-bit character game melee, like smash bros.

and my most recent in progress.

8-Eyes asm hack - converting into a Castlevania engine.

Try turning Kid Kool into a hack called ''Psycho Fox Zero - The Quest for the 7 Wonder Herbs'' It uses a simular engine. And yes, Psycho fox is a SEGA version of Kid Kool.

I was going to insert Psycho Fox music into Kid Kool, But I do not know music very well and I might want someone to help remake the music in that game, PM me if you can give me a hand while I make the above Kid Kool hack

Yes, I am good at my own graphics, I use NES palette editor (MegaManJuno's Improved version @ RHDN), YY-CHR, XVI32, and Djinn's Tile Mapper (RHDN's English Version)

Currently Cancelled Hacks:

(NES) Kid Kool to Hebereke - Episode 1

(Sega Master System) Psycho Fox to Hebereke - Episode 2

(Genesis/Mega Drive) Magical Flying Hat to Hebereke - Episode 3 (Graphically Impossible to rearrange, Permanent?)

(NES) SMB2 Final to Doki Doki Panic (H126 project, No Help Yet)

Incomplete Hacks:

KyoroChan SMB1 (KC-Anime project, Related to the Japanese Anime released in 1999-2000. Very Recent Project using SMB1 Source by Doppleganger)

KyoroChan SMB2 (KC-Anime project part 2, Related to the Japanese Anime released in 1999-2000. Very Recent Project)

Kid Kool To Psycho Fox 0 (Not done, Both are made by Vic Tokai/Aimo/SEGA)

Mario Enhanced (Not Done, Using SMB source code by Doppleganger)

Complete Hacks:

None as of yet.

Preview of Sunset Canyon. The sky in the video looks green because of the emulator.

*Cool Video and Images*

Cool Music, Did you make a converter? If So, Is It a MIDI converter?

Because I really need one. If you can lend me it, PM me if possible (please?)

(Factoid: Did you know that the music data format is similar to SMB2's music data?)

MMC5 (and maybe Sunsoft FME7) is great, Assuming you remake the IRQ code.

If you have enough of the SMB3 music format notes, You might make a Music editor also.

Have you patched it on a clean rom? or maybe Double patch?

There might be a problem with my Lunar IPS patch program. Because it wants you to double patch stuff.

(Remember, My rom is: Super Mario Bros. (JU) (PRG0) [!].nes)

I need help (Again) on how to Switch the TSA Attribute settings of the Question blocks. Because I could not find the right table, And I do not know the values of each block's properties.

There are Sky Blue, Yellow(Current), Green and Dark Blue(Option for SMB1-style)

If anyone got more info. It really will be appreciated

Attribute Format is just like in SMB1: 2 LSRs (equals 4 colors, Each color is in 63 metatiles, $3F in hex) and Store in the Lowest Temp byte ($00 in SMB1).

I know how to make the Golden Animation work, But I need help with this first.

I'm no entirely sure what you mean. Are you wanting to change what palette the ? blocks use? If so, that's going to take a lot of work. All blocks in SMB3 are colored based on their block value. Blocks $00-$3F use palette 1, $40-7F use palette 2 and so on.

If there is either a Data table, or an ASM routine that determines where the Question blocks are in the TSA Table, Can you post it here. (I tried C9 XX/CMP $[Block] and just plain old $[Block] and there isn't any use)

Either that or Make a new Attribute Engine. Which I can't do. due to the NES's hard-to-learn format.

I know which TSA values they are. But Cannot find the ASM/Table to modify.

The title. 16 color because it's on layer 2

Wow... Good Layer 2 Title Screen.

I am trying to do the same with the Status bar. Because of a remake of SMB1.

I know there are too many hacks that try to be like SMB1, But everyone will not regret my hack unlike many other SMW to SMB1 hacks.

The downside is you can't have a background. If you try that with the status bar you'll have to manually apply it to ever level and you won't be able to have a background. I don't think it's worth that.

Then I may make a Sprite Status Bar, or a SMB3-style statusbar (Layer 1 or 2) in place of that. (Just on the Top, not Bottom.)

Back On Topic. Your screenshots are pretty good. For a first timer.

Ok, Im going to need beta testers soon. If you're interested please PM and tell me why you'd like to beta test. Requirements for beta tester are:

Must have been hacking for at least 1 year
Must have done some SMB3 hacking, even if it's simple tinkering

I should have the initial beta released within a couple of weeks.

I have been hacking. But did not release most of my projects (due to lost work during 2004-2007 and Harddrive Crashes that also contains some notes and unretrivable info.)

I have lost, But can remake these (and possibly some other) Succesful SMB3 hacks:

*SMB1 style Player Patch
(Accurate Standing Frame Implented, Just like SMB1),

* SMB1 styled Koopa patch

* and the 16x16 Coin from the Question/Brick Block
(Replaces Regular Question/Brick Block Coin)

All of those were made possible by using FCEUXD(SP) tracer

And About the BetaTesting:

The reason why is just to be helpful for once. I can try to learn a little more with your ''WIP'' Sprite editing stuff once it happens to be implented. I already know a little bit, if not some of the knowlage on how a few-to-most SMB3 sprites work. And for the sake of this project. I have known some sprite graphic/palette addresses and stuff.
