How does Mario Seasons have 2 animation codes? One for Underground/Lava and One with Outside/Water? I wanted to animate SMB 2 ways depending on Seperate level Types.

Animations:

Ground/Water::
1, Sprites 1, 2, BG 3, 4, 5, 6.

UnderGround/Bowser's Castle:
3: Sprites 5, 6, BG 7, 8, 9, 10.

Title (If possible):
Sprites 1, 1, BG 0, 0, 0, 0.

I am not using layer 2 in my SMW-to-SMB1 hack, So I wanted to use Layer 2 for the status bar. Also, While i am at it, I needed to switch Layer 2 code for Disappearing MAP16 tiles (Coins, Yoshi Coins, ect)

Need these values to do that:

1: Hex (PC) value to Change disappearing from Layer 2 to Layer 1.

2: Hex (PC) value to Change the Status bar's Layer Value to Layer 2

I might find #2, But I really could not find #1 since the value seems to be nowhere in the ROM.

OFF-TOPIC PART:

My SMW to SMB1 hack is going to be the BEST SMB1 conversion everyone's ever seen.

PROOF:

1: I did a simple ASM hack that makes the "Kicking shell" part similar to SMB1.

2: Another simple ASM hack I did makes Mario's "Looking UP" frame into a Standing animation

3: the MAP16 Hacks are better than "Bowser's NES project" (The hack that it's based off and modified heavily from, But is basically a project to fix it to a much better hack!)

4: Flagpole from the Japanese STARSW patches will be implented

5: Status bar similar to SMB1

and much more!

I really want new links for BBitmaster's old SMB1 mod, It basically creates a Hidden RAM bank, uses a modified Ducktales 2 music engine and expands PRG-ROM (or is it PRG-RAM?) to 6000-7FFF. The links lead to the Dead and Defunct ''www.panicus.org'' and BBitmaster, if i remembered correctly: quit rom hacking.

Here are the ZIP files I needed:

smb1expirement.zip

smb1dt2music.zip

Why dude?

I am very sorry, I am not trying to advertise or something similar, I needed the link because I wanted to expand memory for restarting my SMB1 hack from scratch!

The links that BBitmaster put up are dead, The original thread is still in the Archives:

http://acmlm.no-ip.org/archive2/thread.php?id=17309

I want someone who still has these files to upload them immediately! The ZIPs contain valuable ASM for bank expansion code not found anywhere!

That is all.

"||board uploader"?

"At ||board"?

Where did you get the idea this was "||board" from?

Also, if you are asking for something, couldn't you do it in a somewhat more... adequate tone? A "please" here and there wouldn't hurt.

I apologize, I will say please next time and will try to be more nice

I confused this board with ||board, I am sorry for mixing it up in my mind.

Close it, Please?

I wanted to go ahead and announce my new project. After many months of wanting to get back into the scene, I decided it was best for me to do an SMB3 editor that can editor so many parts of the ROM, people will be making Mario Adventure clones left and right (ok maybe not that great of an editor ) Anyways I finally got the very basic NES graphics displaying library in C# complete. The source will be available upon every release so people can work on it if they want, but I plan to make this editor as etensive as time allows me. Just to show I have some progress:

This basically loads the TSA and palette data from the rom along with the graphics. This also loads for expanded roms without any trouble. I plan to keep offsets and stuff in XML so people can create very dynamic hacks and let the editor fit their own needs. Flexibility and power are my goals with this 8)

Hey DahrkDaiz: I can supply most of the Sprite attribute data for most sprites, PM me at Romhacking.net or Email me for them if you want. As a bonus, I figured out how to modify the SMB3 koopa attributes to only have one specific attribute (What I meant about Attribute for the sprites is Palette attributes, So do not expect any other stuff).

If you have a last chance, I wanted to put the Question block TSA and the Brick TSA in a seperate Attribute page (Format is like in SMB1, 4x15x4. as in 4 rows, 4 of seperate TSA attributes (the current attribute setup) and 15 (F in hex) for the columns) like SMB1, What I want to modify for SMB3: Question Blocks move to either Attribute column 0 or 3 and Bricks stay in Attribute column 3 (Current/Unmodified Attribute).

What I meant is I need one last help to have the TSA set up for one of my hacks. If you figure out the above stuff in HEX, then I am done letting you give me help.

Other than that, Good luck on making the ULTIMATE (I mean it.) SMB3 utility in Romhacking history!

Hamtaro: Im not entirely sure what you're talking about. The SMB3 TSA data has been figured out long ago and I made a TSA editor for it.

1: I want to put the ''Question Blocks'' in some diffrent attribute. Either attribute space 1 (Palette: White with Light Blue) or attribute space 3 (Palette: Light Blue with Dark Blue)

or 2: Make a new and better ''Attribute Table'' so a certain 16x16 TSA place can have a certain PPU attribute instead of the unmodified SMB3 attribute table and it should be a seperate table from the TSA.

see your WIP editor Image to see what I mean.

the Brand new and Modified attribute table should accept:

00 for Attribute 0

55 for Attribute 1

AA for Attribute 2

and

FF for Attribute 3

He is not really trying to be brutal, he is just telling me that I must find it myself. so stop butting in, please.

Dahrkdaiz, I will try to do it myself then. (Not saying this to hurt you. just that i will find a way to do such a thing.)

So if you make the animation editing, could I possibly edit it to make mario walk like in SMB1?

I did that, Just lost it in a Harddrive crash, I know how to remake it, Just that I will submit it to Romhacking.net! Watch for it there.

I still need some help hacking Block Properties to different stuff(such as Question blocks, Bricks, Cloud stuff, Coins, etc). I wanted them to use different attributes but I need to move them to different places to do that!

I also need help changing Tile Definitions (or Tiles stuff that the SMB3 level data format puts in rows/columns).

If anyone has that info, Post here, please.

(I am not asking Dahrkdaiz to do this unless he wants to, I use SMB3 Workshop, YY-CHR, Djinn Tile Mapper and the XVI32 Hex editor.)

Stop making fun of me. Please, or Someone can really ban you for that.
Seriously

Sorry that I repeated this. I really need data on this. I am making a SMB3-to-SMB1 graphics hack for a base that anyone can base it off. (like some of AP and Insecdule's hacks)

I know all except the Properties (or What a Metatile Acts like) stuff

Does anyone know ROM address for the Throw Block (sprite portion)'s tilemap? Also, I want to see how I can disable its flashing and make it use only palette 8.

A3E3: 29 0F (AND #$0F) Throw Block Palette Animation - Set 29 to A9 for LDA and 0F to another value to change it to a permanent color

12216: 29 0E (AND #$0E) Flying (and Smashed) Throw Block Remains - Same value format, Except the Original Value is 0E

If you want Blue: Change 29 0F to A9 06.
If you want Silver: Change 29 0F to A9 02
If you want Yellow: Change 29 0F to A9 04 or A9 00 for Plain Yellow/Brown

You can also make it have a 2nd page or another color, mess with the value
(Originally 0F) to see the color!

As for the Tilemap - It is unfindable as of yet. So maybe using a 2nd page would make it better if you go HEX edit to change the overwrited CHR value of whatever it is using the CHR set!

I know some of SMB2's music format, But I am going to use Famitracker to do the music if possible, It may sound newbie-ish again, I know where most sprites, ASM, ect. But I could not find where SMB2 JSRs it's music code (As you may understand, Disch at the NESDEV forums gave me the awnser - Initialization with Bankswitching.)

But I could not trace the music JSRs because it could not trace the Bankswitching part (I tried NNNester, Debuggers from Nintendulator and FECUXDSP/ABS)

(Off topic a little bit, But a Fact
DDP's music format is not the same as SMB2's music format, DDP's music format should be also used in FDS versions of Zelda (and possibly FDS Metroid)

I do not know Doki Doki Panic's Format, But I know most of SMB2's stuff except for the untraceable Init/Play/Load JSR(S) that are bankswitched.

Lol here we go again.

Maybe you should compare prototype and final.

The final and prototype uses the same music JSRs as SMB2 and can be switchable compared to putting other NSFs in there!

Please leave if you want to say stuff with ''Chat Talk'' again, such Terms/abbreviations and the likes (such as LEET-speak) are not allowed.
