Posted by smkdan Thanks, that looks about perfect. I tried compiling my ASM file, and it gave me errors on the labels. In addition I tried compiling some of the snippets posted earlier and again it gave me errors. Ca65 worked fine for me but it outputted a ".o" file and I don't know how to inject that into NES ROM. ____________________ SGMB3 is now being developed with Reuben. I wasn't sure where to post this, but technically NES and PowerPak are both hardware options so I tried posting here.
WoQ: My question is, is the PowerPak worth the $135+accessories to get all your games and some ROM hacks on one cartridge? Right now I'm thinking yes but is there any place to buy it for less? I quickly checked Amazon and eBay and couldn't seem to find anything, but I'm not sure if I looked thoroughly enough. Also, for those of you who own a PowerPak, should I get any of the optional accessories? If so, which ones? I was thinking a 2GB CF card and a USB connector, but again is there a cheaper alternative? Can I get the CF card for less than $17 somewhere or is this a specific CF card for the PowerPak? Also, is there such thing as a CF card reader, and if so is it cheaper than the USB connector they display on the site? /WoQ. EDIT: I'm aware that Mario Adventure wouldn't work on a PowerPak. By the way, would hacks made with Reuben work on the PowerPak? Some mappers are incompatible. ____________________ SGMB3 is now being developed with Reuben. Another, less original variant. And Traffic, fine I'll find something else to do. Later. ____________________ SGMB3 is now being developed with Reuben. Hopefully v1.0 will be released by the time I get world 1 done... - Layout: MM v0.31 |

Posted by NightKev You just gave it away! On another note, I like how Reuben doesn't let you put more than four pointers on a map. >.> EDIT: On a final note, is it feasible to start making projects with the regular SMB3 ROM, or should I just wait until 1.0? ____________________ SGMB3 is now being developed with Reuben. I like the close-knit community. We have enough noobs (like me) anyways, and if we got more then the haxors wouldn't have enough resources to help out every noob.
However, once a noob graduates to haxor level, we can let in two more noobs. ____________________ SGMB3 is now being developed with Reuben. Hopefully v1.0 will be released by the time I get world 1 done... - Layout: MM v0.31 |

Posted by Mega-Mario I agree entirely. Also, new-ish vanilla-ish layout. Yeah, it's blue. ____________________ SGMB3 is now being developed with Reuben. Hopefully v1.0 will be released by the time I get world 1 done... - Layout: MM v0.31 |

WinSCP - Amazingly easy-to-use FTP/SFTP/SCP client. You can edit files directly from the server (well, that's what it looks like on frontend. Obviously on the backend it's copying the file, opening it, and re-uploading to the server every time you save.)
Vuze - Really awesome P2P client. I found a lot more seeds and a lot faster downloads. Plus, you can hook it up to your iTunes or even your TiVo, to send files to either. NetBeans - Awesome, free, full-featured Java IDE. The only thing I don't like about it is the fact that it basically makes everything a project... Eclipse - IDE for a variety of languages. Very useful. jGRASP - Pretty good Java dev tool, provides syntax highlighting and auto compile/running. Does C/C++ also, and a variety of smaller languages. Notepad2 - Really lightweight text editor. Provides line numbers, syntax highlighting, and such. It's open source too, so if you know C(++) and how Scintilla works, you'll be able to create your own custom syntax highlighting schemes. (Note, just providing a description here since it seems to be missing one) Google Chrome - Nice, fast browser that Google made. Uses WebKit rendering engine. Really nice - has some features that FF doesn't, and FF has some features that chrome doesn't. Btw, chrome scores 100/100 on the acid3 test. ____________________ SGMB3 is now being developed with Reuben. Hopefully v1.0 will be released by the time I get world 1 done... - Layout: MM v0.31 |

Posted by DahrkDaiz OH! Wow, I didn't think when I posted that. So I'm assuming that starting a project with this is okay and I'll be able to just upgrade to 1.0 when it's released and continue my project? ____________________ SGMB3 is now being developed with Reuben. I'm liking the graphics edits, but the status bar at the top looks... I don't know, just disorganized. I can't really explain why; it just looks chaotic. ____________________ SGMB3 is now being developed with Reuben. Posted by DahrkDaiz Coolbeans. Also, is there a way to put more than four pointers on a world map with the current public release, or should I just make all my levels and wait until 1.0? EDIT: Final question, I promise. How do I make a mushroom house / roulette game? I don't see any of the object sets that SMB3WS used for them. ____________________ SGMB3 is now being developed with Reuben. After I put four pointers into a map, the Add button is just greyed out and I can't add any more. Is this fixed in one of the later builds? I could probably get a trial of Visual Studio and compile (assuming that's what Reuben is written in...) ____________________ SGMB3 is now being developed with Reuben. Can you take a look at the usage stats of board2? If IE6 is sufficiently low (which I assume it is, since this is largely a community of smart people), you could probably just put a huge warning at the top using a conditional comment for IE6 that warns users about possible security holes when using IE6. ____________________ SGMB3 is now being developed with Reuben. Could also use this same hack to make a jQuery call to a PHP page that adds the user's browser to a blacklist of hackable browsers, in case IE6 isn't the only one that does it. Then, like someone suggested, just disable custom stylesheets from those browsers. ____________________ SGMB3 is now being developed with Reuben.
