Damn....

I have one last bug, and it's at the very end of the game. I'm hoping someone from nesdev can help me out on it.

My mmc5 irq split screen works obviously, but its crucial for the end of the game. And I just noticed something.

When I shoot the sword zap, or any other DPCM sfx kick on while the mmc5 split screen is going on, the scanline goes haywire.

Idk how to have my DPCM sfx and mmc5 split coexist. This is a huge problem. Ill keep trying on my own, but I hope I can get some answers on this.

Don't worry yourself too much about it till you find a solution to this the hack turned out nicely.
What is your nexy hacking journey I enjoyed your last mega man 2 hack..
Personally I like to see your hands at MM3, I working on my first mm3 hack still too over my head..
Luckily I understand the editor enough and do some weird stuff to it.

So far, just looking around in the rom with vsnes, I can now view Kiddy's sprite in Vram and it tells me the tiles location. I STILL cant find a single 8x8 in yychr but, if it's possible, I'll find them. Any more info on how Donkey Kong Country 3 works would be helpful and amazing.

Oh, and thanks for all the info, even if you can't shed anymore light on the subject.

back to 6502 assembly training...

Don't give up so easily with yychr go back to that location you found the tile address.
Make sure to hit + and -, it'll take awhile but you should be able to see it.
If you do find them make sure you find the correct size for the gfx tile and replace it.
Test the rom and see if it works, let us know what you find over time.

I died a couple of times at the castle and decided to reset instead of saving so that I wouldn't loose the potion.
When I started again the map was still as it should be, but the potion and Pegasus Boots are gone.

I've explained in the beginning of this thread. If you choose to reset before saving your file, you will get undesired sram results. Theres no way to fix this. This rom uses complex sram swapping due to the size of the light/dark worlds, and I have to do lots of swapping of the 80 byte table form ram/sram, sram/ram, etc. If you don't save when you have uncovered something, it will definitely be gone. I know this is unpopular and a pain in the ass, but this was the only way I can do what I'm doing within the rom.

Hmm wouldn't it be a good idea for most gamers to backup their sram file in case they are worried about loosing data ?
Until you fix whatever issue and bugs you got with the sram feature in your hack I suggest all players backup their sram file.
If they are doing a day to day play till the end of the game.

Me I play your hack when its convient for me which is my 3ds and I am on the road during the day.

Nice Idea I have a few suggestions that may start you off on a good path way.
Your title screen its looks good if your going to keep like that.
I suggest you remove the roman numeral and look at te RM5 in YYCHR.
Locate that number 5 tile and piece it back to the MM5 usa rom.
Also get rid of protomans scarf gfx and change it to something more unique like his shield.
If you leave rush in replace it with tango sprite and recolor it to a dark red.

Thats my opinion of what I like to see you attempt other oldbie hackers would beg to differ.
Check insectduels post and youtube page to get some ideas going for your project.

You probably won't listen to me but stop hacking for one week. :/
You've been at this nearly 24/7 get some business done at home take your mind off of it.

We all enjoyed your hack and you put alot of effort into it but too me you seem to be burned out.
Come back to your project later on next week.

Please feel free to weigh in. Your replies and feedback are greatly appreciated.

I realize that no matter what option I choose, it's going to take some time to development my game. It's just that the decision between the two choices has momentarily put my work on hold, and is making me uncomfortable.

ROM hacking is more fun to me when doing mapper conversions, programming SaveRAM features in games, and small ASM hacks. But when it comes to make a brand new game, that's when the conflict comes in. So it depends on what you're going for I guess.

Thanks for reading.

If you have the knowledge and mindset to do a homebrew, quit holding yourself back and do it.
Insectduel made a point about homebrewing, if your unsure about a few things concerning copyrighted material.
Ask capcom and get a direct answer from the horses mouth.
You're aware of Mighty 9's original creator of MM series ?
Check out his site and read his story, hell if he's willing he might answer a few questions.

If you like to hack continue to do so, I can't program for shit but being here and reading some other materials elsewhere.
I understand alot more then I did since 2007.

The ROM Hacking seems to be the huge focus of the current population. I think waiting until we get more activity to increase promotion of non ROM Hacking discussion would work best. Just my opinion though.

Hmm I think making a general megaman nes hacking sub-forum would do best.
I've been watching the rom hacking section closely giving them a seperate sub-forum.
Would build upon more acitivity, user events throughout the year and good tutorials from the oldbies here.

For super Mario world hacking, I think it be wise to let smwcentral handle that from now on and close down the sub-forum.
If anyone needs help though the rom hacking section would still be a good choice to send the request help thread.

You have to do a google search and find these .dlls from somewhere. I can't give them to you because of Microsoft licensing, blah, blah, blah. http://imgur.com/fMNIdpI They shouldn't be too hard to find.

Another option is if you know how to use lunar compress already. Just use Stifu's offset notes to locate where the music goes and then recompress your .bin music file into the correct slot. Hope this helps...

Would you mind recording yourself on screen and show us how to insert the music to smk ?

I tried it myself and couldn't figure out what to do halfway into porting one song.
I'm visual learner so I learn faster if I see it done correctly by someone else.

Hi, I'm stuck in this Castlevania hack and it's really hard. Too many cheap platform deaths and bats never stop popping out of the screen. Can someone on here please make a Game Genie code so that way I can never run out of health?

I check other sites and their codes are bogus, please help me? I'd really appreciate it.

which CV rom are you using ? if its the NA version go here:
https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=3&cad=rja&uact=8&ved=0CDYQFjAC&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.gamefaqs.com%2Fnes%2F578318-castlevania%2Ffaqs%2F25650&ei=y5UcVMfVC9WtyASZwIKQDg&usg=AFQjCNE_mX6IW3pTlKgTVJkPQmdGwfntMQ&sig2=OhX89E3Ggo8FvhJ5tUU7wg&bvm=bv.75775273,d.aWw

If its a EU or JP rom you may have to search for codes in fceux.

I'm playing Castlevania for the NES, the north American version. I didn't see such a code in that link and I don't know how to search for codes in fceux...

But thanks anyway Mike, I appreciate the help.

Thanks Mike, but those didn't work either. I wanted to beat that castvania hack called God of War 2, it's too hard and the second boss is a pain. Thanks again I really appreciate it. 😊

LOL that hack ? why not ask the author of the hack to give you some help.
He may have disable the game genie feature in his hack, i"ve seen other hacker do this.
I was playing that the other night, I really couldn't get into this let alone I hate cv 1 and partially cv 2. :/

Good luck with your gaming.

Most recently I have got this message.
Click me!(Disabled)
I once felt proud to have worked on this game, but no longer.

As long things do not change, I want myself to be removed from the credits.
Also I will no longer see my work as my own, but Infidelity's. Thus I will remove my entire work on that project from my dropbox and my pc.

Infidelity may profit from this game as he wishes, but I won't be any part of this, because I do not accept any valueables from outright breaking the law.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Edit: I must take back my claims. Infidelity never accepted money from them in the first place.
They did all those things on their own. As such I will not give up my work.

I don't know whats fully going between you 2 love birds.
If infidelt was suppose to compensate you for your graphic works he should pay out.
If he told you he wasn't going to pay you but you still did it anyway for free.
You don't have much of a right to be payed.
I have a better idea, you let infidelt leave your name in the credits.
Ask him nicely to give you 10 bucks in paypal for assisting with the graphics.
If he says no the next project he comes out with don't bother to assist him.
Not unless you feel like going through the same issue you had last time.

Now pleaaw go calm your nerves and handle your problems with him privately.

You have to run it in the command prompt (cmd.exe). Notes about how to use the commands are in my post a page or two back.

Success I got it to excute and it sounds abit like you mention...
About your tutorial I'm going to copy everything into a word document and host it back up after you approve it.
Also before I leave aren't you MVS from smwcentral ? o0

~this music is too cheesy though~

Ok then I'll work on it and upload it late this afternoon.
I do have one question, I replaced the player screen music.
When I begin the first race the music is inactive ?
Since I'm using addmusic for the smk would it be a good idea to replace other race track music to prevent a lockup ?
