so I'll need an update to hammers gfx by someone, I'll try myself when I get the chance.

I think this should be enogh and it will look good in your hack.
When you copy the gfx into your hack adjust the palette a tad bit if you use yy-chr.

Hmm...
But anyway, I would like to know, how to open NES files with the NES Screen Tool, so I can edit the Title Screen (just editing the CHR page wont suffice because some tiles are being used multiple times, probably in order to save space).

Read the whole thread so you can understand how it works.
If still doesn't make any sense register over there and ask for help.

Gridattack and Stifu chatting about a zsnes bug reminded me. When testing music I'd suggest bsnes or a real snes and not using zsnes. zsnes can sound quite different.

Snes9x current versiob will do as well, yes you are correct to assume that zsnes is inaccurate in some games relating to sound.

I'm in Level 1 dungeon right now, and although I'm near the end of it, there are still a few more rooms I want to check, so I can cross them off the map there, but I ran out of the magic meter. Is there anyway to replenish it other than defeating the dungeon?

Find the old man with the bottle and the woman at the counter in south hyrule will open up a potion shop.
For now thats seems like the best way to do it, its like zelda 3 but without the magic small bag drops. :/

Ok, there will be another beta, v1.4.
I extremely apologize for everyone playing multiple times.

no need to apoologize just compensate us on investing in your main project.
Joke aside though I'm taking my time, I haven't even gone back inside dungeon 1 I ran across a week ago.
If the mmc5 music wasn't in your hack I would play it on my 3ds.

Could someone compile that emulator please ?
I'll paypal you 7.00 bucks if I see it working, I don't have the programming knowledge to do this otherwise I wouldn't ask.

Heh here you go mister cheesy grin smiling hacker:

Sorry if I sound slurred abit, my mother woke me up at 12am halfway dead to the world.
I was working yesterday and apparently the place where I work at part time wore me out again.

I remembered I made you a promise and some others I mean to do.
I may just mute the video but then you wouldn't be able to hear your game.
Give me a few days and I'll sift my way through your hack and show some more footage.

Too bad I can't copy the sav or battery file without things going a-wall in nesds emulator. =_=

ENJOY!

Good lord? Really?

I don't have a 3DS but my sister does! I would like to play SMB Extended with it.

nesds 1.3a should be able to play it fine, but if its a japanese rom hack you might have a problem or 2 with it.
Check the rom compatibility page and see if it will work.
I'll look into testing tomorrow evening and see whats doable or not.
Passing you a link via through pm, take care man.

This is retro rain mega man 1 upgrade patch hack, retro if you looking at this I hope you like it.
Its running on a real 3ds real nintendo 139.99 hardware!
Well with a flash cart and evading firmware trap, you get the idea.
Don't let nintendo know about this or they will put me out of show business.

Thank you for the video, looks and sounds awesome!

Now for my update.

C.R.A.P......

I kept wondering and wondering, why I was getting reports of people saying Link's house would be reset when returning. I've taken care of every aspect of swapping in and out my 80 bytes of portions of the entire light/dark world of Hyrule...... Except for the friggin warp caves!

I did a test just a few minutes ago, grabbing everything within Links house, then I headed for a warp cave within the lower light world, fairly close to Link's house. I then take a warp to the top of Death Mountain. And while I did that, I paid close attention to my $67F-$6FF ram to see if it swaps out, and it doesn't. So I then perform a save, and what was still in ram was technicaly the lower light world, and it got stored into the upper light world. So when you load the game again, the lower light world where Link's house is gets reset, which is why when you return, you have to obtain everything again, and this also explains why certain things will be unveiled in the upper light world when you venture there. Again, C.R.A.P......

Everything else I was doing is put on hold for now (which is basicly an overhaul of the Hammer) and I will get to this issue asap!

Thank you to all for reporting, this one is a major one, but I can assure you, it's the last major one, because I have every angle covered on the SRAM.

Well to be perfectly honest i don't think your telling the game where the player should start at again.
Lets say I have a lantern, hammer, bottle red shield, I beat dungeon 1.
So if I were to die inside the dungeon or cave and it ask me do I want to save and quir I do this.
Now if I come back to the game and start up 50% chance I'll be near the dungeon area or last spawn point of which cave or dungeon I came from.

Lets I say I die in the ow I got half of my items and the game is almost beaten.
If I hit save and continue I'll go right back to links house which is a big problem. knowing I have to swing and jump pass whatever crap to get back to my last progress area.

You played zelda 3 right and you know when you made some headway in the light world and you die or save quit..
A nice cheap menu appears before you spawn asking which area you want to go back to..

It maybe a long shot but set 2 main spawn points for north and south hyrule.
Least if you do it this way, the player should be smart enough to take whatever roads he needs to go to.

In a way your hack is like zelda 4 plays like zelda 4 and is funny at times.
But moments like these I'm halfway fed up if I need to restart from point A to point B.

Been meaning to ask this, where is the hammer at ?
I mastered the dungeon 2 but didn't find dungeon 1 yet.
I found the old bag in the grave yard, she wants a book but I can't progress any further without the hammer.

Also if you need me to run your next demo on my 3ds let me know.
My current sram on my card should pick right off from where left off at.

Also not much issues to report while using this with nesds 1.3a only problem...
The map item glitches up when heing used or I am over on west hyrule near the death mountain.

If needed I'll provide a screen shot later on.

v1.4b has been released. Please check out the front page, it has the updated revisions.txt, and direct links to all emulators that run my project.

@d-ace. I'm personally unable to download the new update to nesDS from that website. Can you explain what I'm doing wrong, or if something is up with the site, or if there is another link you could provide?

Thank you all for your extreme patience! This should be the do or die of the betas!

Justice done, your flash cart should be able to handle that, which flash do you use if you dont mind me asking ?

v1.5b has been uploaded!
http://acmlm.kafuka.org/uploader/get.php?id=4675
Please check the front page for the new list of fixes. :-D

Ok this a problem when I go into level 2 and beat it quickly.
I see no indication of the dungeons treasure besides the second piece of the triforce.
Infildelt could you please check out level 2 for yourself and see if a treasure is there ?
Also I have not found level 1 yet, I'll look at links awakening for abit.
I know that dungeon is near the beach in kpholint.
Reason why I am doing that your maps are similiar to zelda 4, hell even the swamp level was 2.

Check your game shops, the money making scheme and the fortune teller woman won't take the rupees sometimes.
Even if you have the correct amount.

I'll put this on my flash cart tonight and play it off and on when I'm working and walking all over town. :/

Stop telling him to greenify the game!

I love the autumn colored woods. The use of that reddish/brown/red currant nuance is one of the most aesthetically appeasing things about the hack in my opinion. I love the looks of the caves, the woods and the swamp. It brings so much color and atmosphere to environments that are usually a little boring and washed out in Zelda games.

Sorry but I agree with thanatos also.
Autum colored forest doesn't seem right at all and its near the swamp are looking like this ?
Have you ever played zelda links awakening dx, go look at the forest area..
Even though its paler-gloom green feel I prefer it over the current palette right now.

Also this has been on my mind for far too long but does link skin color have to stay that way ?
Even a light brown color would look nice on him this would do well: #E4D553

Honestly ? go play both versionf of links awakening again.
Look at infilds whole ow map, even though its mirrored in reverse.
The minor palette change would help, trust me on that.
If infildelt knows something more about of a palette issue with zelda 1.
I can understand why he did that but if it can be adjusted lil bit more without screwing up the whole hack GREAT!

As for the idea of adding a skin tone to Link's palette, just take into consideration that it would affect any other object that shares that palette.
So the sword, the map, and the arrows would also be affected.

Why do you think I suggested that, I don't even know how to hack the legend of zelda..
Howevr if you look a link sin tone and the others that match his color mainly the ground..
It would look good in the long run, check out link awakening dx, you see how nintendo d did their palette system ?
I think it would benefit it, even if I were to know what editor infildelt was using..
I do it myself for a personal copy to retain only.

I guess it will be pale white link then. :| "you win"

Update

I'm finally doing a personal playthrough, and everything seems to be going very well. I'm doing my playthrough with RetroArch using the Nestopia core. Heart pieces are working btw, I've had zero issues. The select inventory asm is flawless, links flippers and air gauge are working too.

Now I'm not going to change every little thing that people don't agree with. But, should I limit the pickup of bombs/arrows to 1 instead of 4?

If I get a chance tonight, I might try something new unrelated to what I'm talking about.

Leave it 1, when I played your hack yesterday its very easy to stock up on bomb.
If enemies drop them frequently farming them for the quanity you want shouldn't be a problem at all.

When you pay for hints in the light world, they are specific for that world, and if you pay for hints in the dark world, its specificly for that world. :-)

I'll be sure to ignore the fortune teller like I did back in zelda 3. :/

So what about it Vanya?
I appreciate the fact, that I do not need to farm that long for to restock my supplies.

How about 2 units for each pick up?

Lazy bag of bones, am I the only one enjoying the thrill of collecting or restocking items like back in the old days of gaming ?
Seriously though infilds dungeons offers plenty of drops.
The bats and guards offer you plenty of bombs.

@Infildelt I'll play your hack this evening and add it to my 3ds before tuesday.

Well the reason I did it was because I was playing a bit without recording it, but wanted to go back and do it again while recording, so I shut off the game and reloaded my file. Then when I went to start recording, those chests I had gotten while not recording were already opened, including the heart piece. I didn't do it just to annoy you with bug reports. Would keeping regular .sav backups help, or would reloading an old .sav just confuse the game even more?

:/ Long story short use fraps and make sure the emulator window is an overlay mode.
If you don't see the fraps yellow icon on the bottom don't bother recording from a hack like this.
Also make sure you play with a good controller that has accurate control on the axis..
If not its like zsnes, if you play to fast 9 times out of 10 the emulator may miss your input user movement.
And that epic recording will be a pile of **** with your man standing there looking stupid. :|
With that said good luck with recording...
Hypercam 3.0 may do also but be sure to use a good mpeg4 codec mainly ffdshow from K-lit codec pack mega or ultra.
