A few questions before I start with hacking the game since I've had a lot of difficulties with Hyrule Magic in the past.

1. What version of the rom is best to use for distributing the ips file?
2. Is the Zcompress + YY-CHR method better or the manual export import?
3. Can the opening scene of the game be edited? ( With aghanim and all that )
4. Is there anyone who knows how to do the big key chest key mechanic from parallel worlds that would be willing to explain/help me with that?

If anyone else has any advice for hacking Zelda 3 it would be greatly appreciated, as well as thank you to MikeTechno for the words of encouragement!

1.use the legend of zelda.smc (E) for patching and making ips.
2. whatever you feel comfortable with, if you like doing everything in one sweep use zcompress.
If you like to edit each gfx file and get a better understanding of the gfx detail use black magic.
That feature still works, I wish someone would do a quick fix so it could do allgfx.bin like LM.
3.I'm not that sure but editing the gfx would help out alot.
4.if you can catch puzzle dude ask him to give you a brief explaination on how it works.

Goog, load up ducktales usa.nes, click on where it says darkwing and select ducktales u.nes.
Mines opened up but some tiles were scrambled, however I think his main issue relies on the screen size of his editor.
It says invalid argument= value of 0 is not valid for index.
Maybe he could tweak it abit so it will load correctly
I personally recommend he just allow the user to choose all nes rom files available and let the program any 1 of 3 he programmed it to do. :/

Also, this:

Snarf how is progress coming along with this project you had going ?
I'm very interested to see and test it.
Also what rom region did you use to get this to work ?

Also on a side note this is my current whip of my Mega Man X color hack.
Please pardon some glitches as palettes are still asm hard locked.
Until I find a fix for that, it will keep locking back to the original palettes midway through each stage.

Its from Ocarina of Time. Its the Song of Time, but the version is from when you open the Temple of Light if I remember correctly.

When do you think you'll let some of us test your current hack ?
Please don't say 2020 or after.

Now, how about this issue I have with deleting messages. I can't; it keeps saying that I need to log in

Sorry kid, but the main administrator locked that feature over a year ago.
They had a good reason to do this incase any legal issues, major problems came up with such said users to give to proper authoritys if necessary.

Just wanted to let you all know that I've been doing pretty decent lately, and I think it's safe to say that I'll be able to work on the Editor again. I've actually already been doing a little work on it the past month.

I'm redoing some things at its core right now, but after that I'll be back to work on adding functionality. I really would like to get it to the point of actually editing the levels soon; I don't know how long that will take, but I'm chipping away at it.

If you get any alphas to a point for limited public testing, put it on here and I'll test it.

The hacking section was never up for axing. The suggestion in the head post of this thread was to remove some sections which are just sitting around with nothing happening, like "Entertainment".

I suggest you take this off of the sub-forum list and archive it below.
http://acmlm.kafuka.org/board/forum.php?id=37

Since the writing sub-forum doesn't get any new post at all I say we let it go.
Also what are you're thoughts on the fraxy sub-forum ?
there appear to be "some" good projects started awhile back but that has run stale and no new post at all.

Everything else on the board looks fine to me.

All websites die in time. Each of my suggestions are completely serious. Now;

Archive the forums. Implement sub-forums. Combine Modern Art, Forum Games, and Writing into Creativity or similar. Remove all Fun and Entertainment forums except for Fraxy and Gaming.
Make sure subforums work. Move Spatula into General. Move all non ROM Hacking forums into ROM Hacking. Move Display Case into Landfill.
Re-theme the site so that it looks less like a fucking wasteland. Integrate the Uploader into the forum view. Replace the hard drive and make the site less fucking slow. Remove all bronies from the moderation staff.

With the facts as they stand, I cannot think of a single reason for this place to keep existing. Not only is the site slow, but it's obscure and gives no prominence to new content as it arrives. Considering you are both unwilling and unable to work on things, the only "solution" I can suggest is putting everything into lockdown and directing people somewhere that can match the functionality provided by board2 but in an environment more conducive to content and posting.

Alright guy I heard your reply some I agree with look at what I bolded to see what I agree with.
There are other rom hacking forums out there such as rom hacking.net zophar and any other generail rom hacking board.
I say we let the thing stand where it is, also I agree with you that black may need to get a new hard drive if thats all it needs.
If the server hardware itself is a different issue here say like the server mobo/processer, we may need to consider something else. :/

Lastly, you keep forgetting that acmlm is one of the grand daddys that pushed rom hacking to where it is now.
Just look at the acmlm archive sometime and see where some projects and people have led this place to where it is.

Minus the trolling and drama whores.

In YY-CHR, you are able to arrange how you view the data. There should be a drop-down list called 'Patterns'. Try some of these pre-set arrangements. I was able to find a setting that made the graphics look some-what recognizable.

Hope this helps!

Sweet it does indeed help, thank you for that.
I'm glad 0.99 beta is much more featured based than the last 2 versions.
Since I have some gfx from my snes smw hack I'll tweak it abit this week and see what I get.

Thanks again

My personal suggestion is to archive the board and migrate the remaining members to whatever similar board would suit their tastes.
This has been the most gracious way I've seen forums die. For the romhackers, I would suggest migrating to romhacking dot net. It seems to be fairly active amongst the newbies still, and is still pretty laid back.

Hmm, I have been thinking about that throughout the year rom hacking.net is a good one.
If anything I may do "very"soon, is go back to zophar.net forum or move on to a dfferent reign board for rom hacking.

Personally I think its about time everyone still involved with board 2 to make a final choice on the matter.

Let board 2 live or have blackhole close it down and archive it.

Hello again,
after reading the article of Super Mario Galaxy 2 in The Cutting Room Floor, I came to the idea of making a hack of Super Mario Galaxy 2, which does the following:
-it adds back Ice Mario and Flying Mario
-it adds back all the unused SMG leftover enemies and objects
->the only exceptions being Cataquacks, since they crash SMG2 even if you add back their models
-it adds some of the unused SMG galaxies and zones
->including the infamous Starman Fort and Home Planet
-it adds some new galaxies as well
->mostly recreations of already exisiting courses from other Mario games
->also adds a few Banjo-Kazooie courses, which can be SMG2-fied with just little effort
With all that said, I want to do this hack, but I have questions:
What SMG/SMG2 editor would you suggest me (I have a noteboock with Windows 7)?
How do I play Wii hacks without the use of Homebrew Channel?
How do I port models from SMG into SMG2 (in order to make most of the unused SMG leftover work like described at TCRF)?
How do I make new galaxies, if I already have the models needed for a galaxy's zone?
How do I add new music tracks?
I would be very glad, if someone could help me there. Thanks in advance!

Screenshots or none of this ever happen.
If ypu are indeed making this please provide one screenshot or 2 about it or this thread maybe closed

But how, if I can't even open SMG2 with Anarchy in the Galaxy?
And I can't post it into the Hack Ideas Thread as well, because that would be a necro bump otherwise...

Simple, show your project editor window and show what things you have changed.
Hit the print screen button, open windows paint click paste as new image and save as png.

You may use photobucket imageshack.us or any other legit photosharing site host your image urls.

It's likely that you'll need to find the full .iso. There are programs out there that can help you rip an SMG1 disc, but I think you need the right drivers. I tried once with my copy of Kirby Air Ride, but the disc couldn't be read, let alone ripped. You might have better luck with a 12 cm disc.

Have a nice long read of this:

Couldn't find it in the forum.

Then you will need to reread that link I gave you and you may want to get yourself dvd drive capable of reading and making wii iso's from your own game.

If you are not willing to do this, you may search privately online for a torrent and get it yourself.

The choice is up to you man.

so really what you did is increase the number of hits for the boss to die.
Also you enabled it where the boss would constantly follow mario eh ?
Not bad man he reminds me a little bit of that yellow shell koopa troopa.
