I noticed Board2 is a bit "empty". I have read previous posts, and, coming from SMWC's community togetherness, I did see Board2 as "The Epic board of them all, but very detatched from it's userbase".

The solution is an ironic one: Have people post more rom hacking promos, speak positively that Board 2 will emerge as the premier ROM hacking nexus it once was, and most importantly.

***Treat everyone with kindness and respect, and promote promote promote.

Board2 will only go under if it's administrative staff believes it will go under. BELIEF is the key here guys. I personally feel that this forum has the most heritage among it. It's like a trinity: Board2, SMWC, Jul.

If any admins are reading this: Start speaking positive and set goals on how Board2 can emerge as a leading ROM hacking site once again. ROM hacking isn't getting old anytime soon, but it will be up to the leadership to make it happen.

If you need help or advice, PM me. I'd love to know every exact factor that has led to a slump for Board2. If we know the causes, we can take the best course of action.

Until then, dont give up. Board2 is STILL very legit, but it's leaders need a wake up call. Your community needs you to be the stars you were meant to be. Start BELIEVING in yourselves, the site, and your mission, or, yes...

Board2 will die.

Lets face bare bone facts here, the place isnt going to go under the rug anytime soon.
If you take a look at the board and the people that are barely active to the ones that are, we do have times of a dry spell.
Factor in job of any sorts, daily life, or any type of school of all ages, and game/hacking....

Yeah its going to be slow, if I had to make a correct assumption its mostly young teens/adults that use the site often. (15-25 ages)
I come by every so often and will post, if its not necesary then I am eleswhere.

Asking the current administration team to do anything for the board is like pulling teeth.
Let em be and let them stay quite.

I personally still like the Windows XP look. Windows 7 I'm fine with, but it took a lot of getting used to. This is also coming from the person who enjoys organizing my folders though. I personally think Microsoft is just trying to make it look all shiny and Mac-like, but in the end I'm hoping it'll turn out to be a minor update with a lot of new optional features.

Well, this is my last stop with microsoft as a consumer, its not the os being changed to a whole new creature if thats what they are aiming for.
I'm just sick of having to come out pocket for a 139.00+ and up price tags for the os again.
If I do anything with windows 8, it'll be to bring myself up to speed so that I may be able to trouble clients or train them on site if its needed.
So I'll be scraping away on trial mode upon the official release.
Ninja, I know how you feel about xp, I liked the os as much as you did and I didnt even want to upgrade, but ms said they were bringing xp to a close.
The only thing I truly hate about 7 right now is, service pack they released for it, especially on the x64 platform, causes more technical mishap than is currently there.

Oh well..

Hi guys! My name's NARF, I'm relatively new around here.

Anyway, I'm working on a Mega Man 3 (U) hack. I don't plan to do anything big on coding like Odyssey or MI, I just plan to do a simple hack which changes most of the basics, similar to the brunt of Mega Man 2 hacks. So far I've changed some weapons, stages, boss AI, enemy AI, and have plans to do a lot more with music and such. Enough talking though, have some screens!

I like your screenshots so far man, if you have ever played metal storm for the nes or blaster master, your shadowman stages and coloring resemble it just a little bit.

If you get a stable demo working, throw it my way and I'll give it a run through.

Well to be honest, the tileset used there is from Blaster Master! I know it's being unoriginal, but to be honest my attempts with my own tilesets were less than stellar. Maybe after the whole project is over I'll try and replace the tiles with my own versions of them.

Ha, I guess being a old school gamer does have it perks at times.
Good luck with your project though, and let us know when its nearing completion.
If you do top mans stage later, try to do it in mmx3 neon tigers design.
Doesn't have to be special, but something that says it came from jungle somewhere.

Where should I upload them? What service should I use for uploads so people can download them?

Use the uploader, use winrar or winzip for windows/linux and make sure to add on a readme file so we'll know whats been modified or not.

Sorry to bump an old thread, but I seem to have lost the patch for my old demo, and it was never reuploaded to SMWCentral. If anyone has the patch for IBZ10G's Untitled Demo, feel free to send me a message, thanks! I was feeling a bit nostalgic tonight, and I just wanted to revisit some of my old works, and the computer that I developed it on has been defunct since 2008.

Hmm, its very slim chance, but I'll look around a few places on the net and see if someone may have it archived.

Kafuka was borne of ideas a handful of us came up with to make board2 better. It was supposed to be the answer to the problems this board has. Instead, blackhole89 rejected most of them and now we have Kafuka. That's the short story...
Whether or not board2 ultimately dies, a change in leadership must be made. Blackhole89, hang up the keys, throw in your towel. You obviously have more things to focus on than this little board. Stop letting your pride and ignorance get in the way of this and possibly other communities. And if you say time's not on your side, that's complete bullshit. I'm no coder but I know it doesn't take a whole lot of time to hand shit over. Or pull the plug; whatever decision you come to, those two would probably be the wisest.

Easy there "Recon9000", we know blackhole isn't very active on here and cannot do much, but give the man some sort of credit would ya ?
Last time I spoke with him, he was busy with his college work and preparing to do some other things.
I'll shoot him a message later, and see if we "could" invest into a better hosting site for the place.

I think most of us know kafuka exist so there is no need to cry over spilled milk.
That and you have a administrator position over there to keep things steady

@Luna, could you speak to one of the other lead staff and have them fully archive the site to their hdd, just in case this site goes down for more than 2 or 3 days ?
It would help and we might need to move on without black if the right people decide to start off new.

1.You are right on some degress I have not been in your conversations with him. +1

2. How should I put this, even though black isnt here mostly, if he knows the site has gone down and is aware of it, he'll try to float it back up

3.Maybe, like I said, if someone else on staff has access to the server settings and make apprioriate actions without him, it will be done and he'll be contacted of any actions.

4,Next question please!!

5.I like you, like I said to you in the other threads, I have some degree of respect for you.
Just let things stay the way they are for now, kafuka will get recognized soon, just handle your stuff there and we'll make sure this old battle ship doesn't sink in the midnight hour storm.

Looks like we had a spam bot attack while I was asleep!
Sorry for it clogging up for a while, but I have dealt with it now. :p

Sleep you say little woman, for almost 3 days now ?

Unforgivable, making a emergency call to acmlm headquarters out west to get you terminated!

Kidding you, but thanks for your help Luna.

My forum is full of spambots while on inactivity including the porn threat which can violate the TOS if caught. Are they trying to take over humans! That creeps me out!

So its your forum that has seen more spam bot activity ?
Very odd, and I was probably thinking right, the current acmlm based boards I have seen in july uptil this point I have seen more than 4 bots lately which is not a good sign.

I tested your recent patch, graphic wise, its alright for now.
Palettes throughout the game work on them more.
Music I'm sure you whats wrong, but between transitioning screens and taking out certain enemies, it will speed up or stutter.
When you release your next ips patch assign me and a few others to work with you closely.

It's going pretty well. I made the Room Editor display the rooms, and then took a break for a while. Programming's just one of those things that requires a lot of focus, and you need to take breaks sometimes. Sometimes my breaks are a little more lengthy than they should be however.

Here's the latest:
Mega Robot Laboratory v0.62 (Beta)

Nice dude, when I geta chance late this evening I'll give it a try.
Thanks for hosting it up man.

I downloaded this when I got home yesterday, did a good job with this.
That game feels like it was based from that old fashion 1970's-1980's Mario Brother game.
I see why japanese people like the game, its annoying but it atleast it'll keep you guessing even if you make it pass level 5. #_#

If your good with paletting editing and game gfx modding which is pretty obvious I would try to aim at super mario bros 2 and 3.
Why smb2 doesn't get enough attention for hacking I dont know, but it has alot of potential to expand.
If there was level editor for smb2 I would try to attempt that as my first NES hack.

You remind me of ghettoyouth in many ways, yor work sort of remsembles what he used to do back in 2005-2007.

LAZYSHELL, Version=3.12.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=null

I can't edit properly MENU dialogues.

I'm Spanish and if I add special characters, I can't edit attacks an descriptions.

All Spells are in this format

óFire
óDummy

instead

Fire
Dummy

And special char are dissapearing when I save changes... "¡" turns to "á" for example.

If your main language is spanish, by default you may want to change your language pack on your os so it will be easier for you to work with english based hacking utilities.

@MikeFuryXP The same thing with my SMB2 hack, I have a hack that all the graphics are done & so is the ending, Icegoom gave it to me to finish. I wish SMB2Trans was stable but at least it's not like SMB2D...

My SMB3 hack Time Flies, has as much graphic changes as much as I can cram into that hack.

That icegoom is one heck of a guy, its too bad he just up and disappeared in 08.
I never knew how many people he was in contact with all over the place.

Pm later on about smb2 hacking and what you have learneed from it, even though luna has worn me about smb2, I still feel like the original needed some action for a change after 25 years.

I think i found another bug or maybe i'm doing something wrong. When you modify the sprite ABXY menu button (the menu during battles) i export a PNG, modify it in Ps and when i reimport it it is all scrambled. I ended up modifying it pixel by pixel but i guess it is important to report it.

On another note while editing the main dialogue i sometimes get the following error:
"Not enough space for compressed menu palettes..." while i haven't modified any palette but just the dialogues

Forgive me if I am really wrong here, but whenever I work with graphics or tile letters.
With whatever program you may use weather it be ms paint, paint shop pro or gimp, I normally save snes 4bpp as 16 bit color.
If that program may have an option to export at bmp, it maybe much easier to do it that way.
Even if your coloring maybe a little off it cause some size byte issues in the average snes rom until you fix it properly.

@Giang: does lazy shell have the option of exporting allgfx like lunar magic and mostly hyrule does ?
It be simpler to them just to edit the gfx right in yychr or other tile utility program.
