Like a true epic story, he leaves in search of more of life. Heroes are rarely portrayed as the kind that can settle down.

Luke: "What are you doing here?"

Pastless just seemed to look at Luke dully. A faint memory lingered in her mind, his face brought something back, but it was far to faint to remember it. Those determined eyes that seemed to be a gateway to everything, that faint hum in the air around him, all of it seemed familiar, but nothing tangible.

Pastless: "I..."

As Luke held one of her arms preventing her from escaping, he noticed that the very air around her was trembling. This was common for many whole people, it was a sign of unlocked potential or looming power, but for a nobody it was a first. It could be a sign of what might happen in the next few days, but Luke was confident he could handle it.

Pastless: "... I'm not really sure."

Some nobodies escaped from any organization and had no allies, no friends, nothing. It was very likely in Pastless' case. Her former self was very independent.

Luke: "Well... Maybe you should come along for a while, I know someone who'll be looking for you, and honestly I'd prefer if he didn't find you."

Lexuk's muddled vision of what had just occurred boiled his blood, but he had to trust in this possibilities powers to bring Nijote back to her most powerful form. With the help of Dark Wish he had recreated a very powerful heartless Nijote that would be able to combine back with her nobody. He also had secured the potent drug Nijote had been victim of for most of her child hood and teen years. The legendary agent of death would return with much more power than ever before.

He'd finally have an ally that would be able to fend off some of the bigger threats and create a stronger, more specialized force of heartless. He just had to wait.

Maya: "Delia, why is it that your dark weapon seems to be a little different from everyone else's?"

Maya had grabbed onto Delia's hand and was walking towards what appeared to be a hotel. A rather large one, something that only rich people could afford.

Maya: "Your's sounds different, I can hear it right now really. It's just different."

Maya opened the door and immediately took a left turn, walking up some stairs.

Maya: "I live in this hotel free of charge since I work here. Luckily they needed someone of my... talents."

Maya walked up the stairs to the third floor and walked down a hallway and opened a door into a very large room. It was decorated lavishly and the entire room seemed to be isolated from the rest of the world. Gentle sounds of water filled the room almost instantly easing tensions from anyone's mind.

Maya: "Make yourself at home, Luke will find his way here and then we can think of what to do."

Fixed. I love how everyone blames the President.... reminds me of war.... how you know.... congress voted to go to war and not the president, he just supported it.

To say he "just supported it" is horribly wrong. He has the power of the military, he can choose whether or not to go to war. He signed that paper that the congress voted on. He could've stopped it at any time.

Also if I'm not mistaken, he was the guy that proposed going to war. Though please correct me if I'm wrong.

Declaring war and sending troops are totally different. Remember that.

When the legislative branch declares war, that means the military has full economic backing. (And many other details.)

I'm surprised that the events unfolded how they did too. I can't honestly say that I wouldn't have been terrified though.

Certainly odd that this still occurs.

Given that I have no other choice for internet access, I was wondering if the 1 second + delay between sending and receiving signals will kill me on games like World of Warcraft and Final Fantasy XI.

Other concern would be Dawn of War.

I have no real experience with latency, since I'm used to a cable provider. I also have no idea how I'm going to meet the download limit (Fair Access Policy ) so I'm a little worried.

I haven't gotten it yet, afraid of that 12 month contract, but I was wondering if anyone had some insight that might help.

I know FFXI caps at 56k connection speed (practically everything is stored client side), so I can use dial-up for that.

If I had DSL as an option, I'd jump over that, but I'm nearly an hour away from the closest real city.

Dracoon - Typo back when I tried to spell raccoon. (I was always a terrible speller so I spelled it racoon. A slip of the finger and I said hey, Dracoon sounds like a cool name!)

Sinfjotle (Correct spelling being Sinfjötli) - It looks cool. Otherwise, check the link.

So dial up gaming, wooo.

Oh well, I'm sure it can't be to long for a better option to appear.

Well, there is no doubt that for general surfing purposes (and by that I mean downloading), I'm better off with satellite being sorta-okish than with dial-up. I mean, it's shitty that a company is offering a crappy service for a high price just because there is no competition, but I can afford it. I can deal with it, and I can be a total prick if something does come up better.

When Verizon Wireless covers more with that new... EVDO-whatever thing, and I can get that, I'll jump service. Honestly a contract won't mean anything if I change banks and then cancel.

The absurd thing is assuming any one person would take such a huge chance at throwing away his/her life under any circumstances, whether it means saving other people or not. It's foolish to sit back from the safety a desktop computer and even suggest that things should have gone differently with bystanders sacrificing themselves; I really do not believe that you would have willingly sacrificed your life in that situation. Instinct is not cowardice, and I do not see how you could be so ignorant as to confuse the two. Ugh.

Indeed. Depending on how someone is raised, although it is incredibly unlikely in today's world, these instincts may be different. Outside of that, there is only trained professionals, soldiers, and people who can logically make that choice.

I would want to try and stop him if I was in the school, but I doubt I would've actually had the nerve to tackle him. I can't, and neither can anyone else, blame people who have never been in that kind of situation to act selflessly.

Pastless: "I'll be fine on my own."

Luke felt Pastless tug away from him, trying to pull her arm free.

Pastless: "I'm sure whatever it is, I can take care of it."

Luke released the grip around her arm. He might be able to force her to come along, but she'd break free eventually. So, he just had to convince her.

Luke: "Even if you can do it on your own, it still won't be safe. You can't run from the entire universe."

Pastless didn't know what Luke was talking about of course, but she felt compelled to hear him out.

Luke: "If he catches you, you'll be a slave again. You'll be forced to kill and forced to feed off the death you cause."

Memories rushed back into her mind, flashes of death she had caused, the feeling of her own berserk body, and the raw power it had once had. She turned pale as she could almost smell the blood. She looked at Luke and then took off in the other direction.

Luke: "Stop!"

Luke's yell never made it to her ears as she broke into super sonic speeds.
