Assuming it works as promised, the creepiest moments for its users are going to be those of reflection. Surely, there must be something suicide-inducing about the realization that you were just successfully comforted by a huge pulsating robotic slime mold.

I think exploiting the knowledge probably crosses the line even for most of those who understand quite well that our emotions, too, are just reflexes to reproducible stimuli.

Seriously, though, this has got to be a symbolic date... I still remember how my first pathetic attempt at putting something on the internet, way back in 1997, was hosted by it too. (I entered a wrong birthdate in order to be allowed to sign in and spent the week after trembling for the Geocities profile information police to barge in my door and arrest me)

Perhaps, this day will go down in textbooks as the end of Web 1.0.

Entropy and thermodynamics in general has it that it is much easier to heat a subset of a cold environment than it is to cool down a subset of a hot environment relatively to the surroundings.

Thus, "too cold" seems like the technically more approachable problem.

There is a FAQ, which details some of the reasons why your threads might have been closed, and the presence of stickies in this section (one of which you were even pointed to) further detailing things.

But if you can't deal with a situation where certain basic criteria of quality are applied to new threads, I guess the best advice I can give you is to not let the door hit you on the way out.

He first posted this.

It was closed with a friendly, if brief, pointer to the proper thread for that.

Then he posted that.

Then he posted this thread, essentially saying that the board should be "blown up" because we closed the previous two threads.

Besides, I don't really see what about my post was not calm, or even where I told him to "fuck off"; I just implicitly stated that, if he sees the thread closures as a reason to leave, I won't be one to stop him.

The reply to that thread was "this", with no indication of a link to the FAQ or even why making a thread like that is so unreasonable. If you think about it he was also inquiring as to the state of other oldbies.
The FAQ is linked in the board's header; the "this" post, I'll admit, was rather brief and non-descriptive (though he really could have deduced from the linked thread's title...), and that inquiry was weird and incomprehensible at best. The thread's closure might well have been a bit rushed, but his reaction to it was inappropriate and hardly left us with a choice.

It's funny that you're such a hardass as soon as someone forgets the capital letters, but if you want to be a total asshat you can go on and on without being even warned.

The Samus sprite seems rather flat (no pun intended) and bland; try adding shading.

Implementing the ability to shoot in more than the two horizontal directions would help a lot, as would some general makeover of the shot graphics/effects (doors, for instance, don't seem to show any effect at all when hit...)

Also, I really think the movie trailer style approach to advertising hacks is overused and, for instance, actually putting the hack's own audio in the video would produce a much more truthful preview of its gameplay and overall atmosphere.

Apart from that, you seem to be on the right track; keep going.
