What hardware are you using to do that? I've heard of some microcontrollers that have a BASIC interpreter included, but then, you might just as well be using one of those PC serial or parallel port based tinkering kits with an appropriate binding.

And ofcourse, movies based on games.

I guess that also includes anime based on visual novels then.

Movie-based games weren't half as bad back when the technical limitations stopped them from extensively embedding what are essentially fanfics of the movie plot as a plot into the game; cf. the NES Batman games.

Typically, you get a couple of additional votes once you set a firm deadline. Like one week from now would sound decent in my opinion.

I would post the URL of a picture of my bright green global moderator name here, but I think you will get the point without that.

Do not act like this was SMWC or something.

[2009-10-06] trashed (5671) "HAAX"
Stupid nonsense.

[2009-10-06] trashed (5670) "The owned-game"
SMWC-style game with a stupid premise that only leads to people spamming, done in a half-assed and badly spelled way on top of that.

Some kind of P2-controlled sidekick wouldn't be much of a problem to implement (you could read second controller data in c. sprite routines), but as Sukasa said, it might be difficult to give it the full feature set of the first player with the CPU available.

Besides, who plays retro games together with others nowadays anyway? Netplay is out of fashion and hardly anyone owns copiers that would enable them to flash such a hack on a real cartridge and play it together with real people.

I don't know about everyone else, but this used to be a site for serious hacks...

Must have been before my time.

As NightKev pointed out, the 2x scaling on the images is kind of wasteful with post space.

Apart from that, while I won't be arguing about the artistic merits of this, I do believe this typical concentrated kind of sophomoric humour also has a place in ROM hacking. No-lock from me.

[2009-10-15] Trashed (5721).
Who would've guessed Acolyptor's "friend" took pretty much all of the negative qualities the former had as a poster and amplified them times 10?

I like that one too, but am currently sticking with Daily Cycle 2.0 out of some misguided kind of self-solidarity or paternal feelings for it.

I must say that I find both quite decent, though I've been playing many more games typically considered "retro". There was a very long dark age when 3D first got a hold of the market and game vendors just cared about being able to boast more polygons, shader models and bump maps than the competition, but, perhaps thanks to development of microprocessors having somewhat stalled lately, recently, more games with rewarding emphasis on gameplay and other aspects seem to have commenced surfacing.

Not that I could play many of them, still being stuck in 2003 in terms of specs.

I keep huge amounts of chocolate cookies. Apart from that, drinking lots and lots of sugary caffeinated drinks whenever I have to concentrate seems to be my canonical replacement for solid snacking.

P-Model - Denshi Higeki/~ENOLA - Enola

Heard it in a Youtube video on a 2channel meme and liked it for its weirdness. Then, I guess all of Hirasawa's music has much of that.

Clock frequencies and architectures don't significantly improve anymore. Number of cores still does (and there seems to be some acceptable progress on the RAM clocking track), but I don't see games using that in any efficient manner. Most relatively recent games I tried (not many, granted) still run relatively nicely on my 2.1GHz singlecore machine with slowish RAM and a Radeon X800 PRO.

Considering the superiority of keyboard controls in most cases, better monitors, sound, portability and filters when needed, I have to say I prefer emulation.
