Anything with the IP settings, perhaps? (For instance, if a fixed IP was allocated but it's not in the network's range, or there is a DHCP present...)

So that's another good reason to not use virtualized hosting... the machine you are on becomes a much more attractive target to various people with exploits than it would be if it contained just your feeble and meaningless existence.

Bluntly speaking, yes. It just seems like the domain dropped and was bought up in their case.

edit:
- The head of the company that developed HyperVM hanged himself in his apartment.
- It seems to be a quite large-scale incident.

I don't think he's a millionaire, but he sure is reclusive. The only tested way (as far as I know) to contact him is to leave something in his one-line BBS system; he typically gets back on it within a few days. I don't know if he really would accept money though...

If you want to contribute back, I, for my part, think that making something of value yourself and releasing it to the internet is the better way. Rather than just paying back for a single person's efforts, you help everyone (and can think of every piece of free software or whatever else out there as the way people thank you for your work) and ultimately contribute to the continued existence of an internet where people share good things for free.

In theory, there's nothing speaking against it being possible; the two possible collisions to occur I can think of would be any data related to the music change being written somewhere where LM or anything else has placed data (while the spot was previously clean; can be avoided by picking a sufficiently high destination spot for any replacement data/code) and random corruption happening if the patch also tries to swap around the individual levels' song IDs in case the replacement songs' ID layout is much different (if the level headers change positions at all; I'm not that sure about that anymore, sadly).

Most forums including mine only allow users to register to forums only if they're over 13 years old.

You are probably referring to COPPA. Since it's a US American law and binds forum operators rather than minor visitors, there is no reason whatsoever for board2 (which is hosted in Germany) to pay any degree of attention to it.

Of course, Germany has its own set of ridiculous regulations concerning the internet, but since there is nothing remotely resembling a wide German target audience here, I don't care about those either.

If we are thinking of the same level (autoscroll section of a ghost house?), I think I didn't figure out the flying koopa thing and instead took a shell with a koopaling inside, tossed it up in the air before the hole with a timing that ensured the Koopa was just about to come out and used the jumping out in midair Koopaling to propel myself through the hole, all using quite a bit of TASsery. Talk about making things too complicated...

It should suffice for everything up to SNES. N64 should work too, PSX might be slightly problematic.

The specs aren't considerably lower than on my primary machine, though, so I wouldn't be surprised if PSX works well too.

I also ran Portal smoothly at full quality, but Valve games aren't much of a measure for high-end hardware requirements...
