Did they ever fix that bug where typing in '%' in the address bar crashed the whole application?

(I do believe we had a Chrome thread (in H/S) before...)

That's not what I meant. What I meant was that you multiplied when you should have divided.

No, doesn't look like he did at all.

Even with FOSS, most people would develop for Windows, and it only would help portability as far as building against winelib under POSIX has better effects than running it in Wine.

Of course, manual tweaks would be possible, but who would go the lengths to do that? I speak from my own experience when I tell you ROM hackers aren't exactly the masters of writing code that others can read.
But then, of course, it is precisely that ROM hacking skill which would enable one to do something with the code anyway...

Apart from the corruption (which might be, in fact, unrelated), this sounds a lot like an issue I encountered on my desktop machine with an ancient version of CorelDRAW (7) trying to substitute its previews for file icons.
Movies get previews generated of them as well, so I think it wouldn't be too outlandish to assume that to be a part of the problem. Have you checked if the problem occurs in one of the small-icon modes, e.g. the list one?

Linux' ntfs-3g won't mount NTFS volumes marked unclean, I think. Run chkdsk or something.

Under XP, when you highlight a file, it starts trying to render the preview in the sidebar. Same old thing.

Also, if you crash, your volume remains flagged unclean/used. Chkdsk, then do a clean reboot into Linux.
(Alternatively, there's a way to enforce the mounting under Linux, but I don't remember it off hand...)

"He's then pitted against a huge crab-like creature in what appears to be an epic boss battle."
The popularity of the Ancient Japanese setting among game designers appears to be unchangedly high...

4chan /v/ is overflowing with "MULTI-TRACK DRIFTING1!!1!!" jokes. In the end, I wouldn't be at all surprised if the trains turned out to be a minor plot element for traveling between distant cities or something at most.
(But then, could the title be hinting at more?)

The place should be about right.

What was the ROM you used it on named? It might be it doesn't properly handle nonstandard ones.

umm....blackhole89....

....

nevermind...

Some garden-variety businessmen downloading porn flatrate dialers will probably get hit, a couple of SMWC users will whine about hacks that should never see daylight anyway being lost forever and/or a couple of huge corporate sites will be down for a couple of days.

I'll watch it from the sidelines, laughing at all the people running around in circles and screaming.

Either that or it will be the best April Fools' prank ever.

Cautionary measures really seem unnecessary, as long as you check your machines for some of the symptoms described in that analysis Arbe posted beforehand.

It's mostly(always?) the security analysts, not the makers, who name viruses...

This was a moderately interesting read. Wouldn't it, by the way, be a correct observation that the pre-IT English usage of "virus" had much more of this generic notion? (i.e. "He's down in bed with a virus."(referring to the whole disease as a single 'virus')/"This strain of virus..."/...) and the problem posed with the cited example "Index of Viruses" could have been avoided altogether if science consequently applied it in that fashion?

But I digress.

Randy, how can one such hypothetical "cross-platform worm" determine that it has a significant installed base without announcing its presence (and receiving presence announcement from its peers)? How can it even proceed to infect other machines without announcing its presence in some way, even if that's just making use of whatever its infection vector is? Unless it's put in some popular software package, the connected subgraphs created by physical media distribution are conceivably small these days.

Once they add extensions
You think they will?

I remember reading somewhere that they planned to introduce an FF-like system soon...

While looking for that piece of information, I stumbled upon this, which also seems fairly interesting to me.

The point is that you can edit them in the level editor view by bogus-loading a level with the graphics files that the overworld uses.

Why couldn't you just link the file directly, like this?

Also, what does "EONEI" mean?

Also, rather than changing the palette, couldn't you just modify the graphics? Going for the palette the emulator uses seems like a very dirty workaround to me.

I don't have much time now, but some more details that caught my eye...

* BG number upgraded to 3.
* EXITLOOP command for tries, breaks out of the loop like C's break
* fixed a bug in the try calculation processing where it would (that's my own conjecture here) eat the character after the =, thus parsing something like ((xx)=50) as ((xx) = 0)
* ITEMSCROLL. As it says on the tin, it scrolls items' positions. I smell Touhouesqueness potential.
* BUFFER/LOAD to allow preloading enemies for tries. The changelog doesn't say what BUFFER's two parameters do (it might be in some readme file though), but in the grand picture, the command allocates an amount of memory (so I'd presume the two most likely modes of operation, judging from it being two parameters, are that you allocate a max. number of bytes per slot and a max. number of slots, or allocate a max. number of bytes for a given slot), and LOAD preloads a file into one such slot. If you have thus loaded "lol.fed" into slot 123 by passing LOAD "lol.fed",123, you can later reference the preloaded slot in a CREATE/CREATE2 command by passing "*123" as a filename.
* New "screen effector" part family. Variations are "Screen effector (flash)", "...(quake)","...(oscillate)" and "...(blur)".
* A new rotating panel which rotates to a fixed angle relative to its start angle according to a parameter.
* Rotating panels all have rotation speed and style parameters now, some of them are flagged "subject to change" though.

True as that may be, that's not even close to my point.

So... uh... what is your point? Are you implying that the implementation of RSS here was because you had it?

I didn't even know you had RSS until now.

Try filing a patent breach suit or something.
