It would be useful if you at least mentioned what it is you are hacking... SMW's engine, for instance, has a level mode that renders layer 2 additive.
SNES' PPU supports actual transparency on a somewhat difficult to explain by-layer/by-"screen" mix basis... basically, you have a separate "main screen designation mask" and a "sub screen designation mask" in the PPU registers which determines which layers are rendered on which of the "screens", and another PPU register, commonly called CGADSUB (I think it was $2131, but it has been over a year since I last messed with that...), holds a bitwise mask that determines the layers to be affected by the blending as well as the blend mode to use (additive or subtractive) and, I think, whether the input should be halved in gain (which would turn additive blending into a 50/50 alpha one). If I am not mistaken, all of that information can be googled. With CGADSUB set accordingly, then, the pixels on the sub screen which "come from" a layer that was set as affected by blending in CGADSUB are blended with the specified operation unto the pixels of the main screen, and the result is put on the screen. That's what I recall of it, anyway.

If I am not mistaken, SMK uses Mode 7 for the ground's display... which would make it impossible to use CGADSUB based blending at all.

Not that obscure. I have pretty much the full data on the SoM engine (partial credits to Mopyy) and am fairly far into taking the SD3 one apart (they are different though)...
Chances are SMRPG uses something similar to either of those two engines.

Technically, if the game lags from transparency, it could at most be from your computer being too slow to handle it... no 65c816 processor time is used for the rasterization.

- AMD Athlon XP 2800+
- Asus A8Nsomething mainboard
- ATI Radeon X800 PRO
- Creative SB Audigy sound card
- 17-inch 1280x1024 TFT
- Terratec TV card
- 40+80GB HDD
- Realtec something network adapter
That'd be all I recall of my desktop PC right now... this laptop is a Fujitsu Siemens Amilo A1667G with an Athlon 64 mobile 3200+ (I think) CPU and an ATI Mobility Radeon X700.

Your N-SPC data block is a mess. Why not put the songs in in order? Looks much nicer that way.
Also, any particular reasoning behind moving the song table to $26EA? It confused the hell out of SST's autodetection. xD

Other than that, from looking at it, I can say you have done a quite good job. What's the first song from?

Also, would you mind uploading an SPC dump from the overworld bank so I can go have a look at that as well?

Given you have the ROM, couldn't you just take some ingame screenshots in an emulator and post them?

I one-handed it at 30WPM until the eighth grade and have been punching at one since I was about 7 or so with an old 286 (you know, the old blocks with the turbo button?).

I'm pushing around 80 two-handed now. A shame I'm not any better.

After some attempts, I got 107WPM at 100% accuracy and 110/112WPM at 98% on that test.

I remember doing hunting and pecking at my first attempts at using the computer, when I was three years old (QBASIC ), and still do it for the Cyrillic keyboard layout today... for the Latin one, I never formally learned the 10-finger system, but I recall not needing to look at the keyboard anymore by the time I was in the fifth grade. Today, I do use all of my fingers, but in a manner that, from what I gathered, is not always consistent with the 10-finger system. Lately, I also seem to have developed the habit to keep the thumb of my left hand constantly on the pad below the space key when typing letters, only using it for the space key when my right-hand thumb is occupied with, for instance, pressing AltGr or .:,;-_.

There's still the option to kindly ask an administrator to reset one's password. In the case of Legoman, the horrible English would have swept away any potential doubt about the authenticity of person.

Good point. I don't think your Finnish is any better than his English...
(even so, that shouldn't be taken as a universal carte blanche for Legoman not to do something about his knowledge of what is ...well... the language of the internet)

Well, I'm Finnish too, but I speak pretty fluent English.

And now someone comes and notes about a spelling error in the above sentence.

Since you asked for it...

You don't speak fluent English... if anything, you speak English fluently.
Also, the "about" in the second sentence was out of place.

I will be graduating high school next year, and then I'll start looking for a decent university in Germany

Why Germany of all countries?

I'll be graduating next year myself, and then start looking for a decent university somewhere else than Germany.

It made me lol, so I went on with it and am up to ep6 now.

The mechas look ridiculous.

The length of one tick, if I recall correctly, is 512ms/speed (as set by the N-SPC global speed command)...

I can play the piano fairly well (though I stopped taking classes like three years ago now), and used to play the accordion back in elementary school, however I don't really know how much is left of that. Other than that, I found I can grasp instruments I previously was unfamiliar with (guitars, flutes) on a basic level quite fast...
As for sheet music, I always have been much better at playing things by ear. As bad as my memory for "hard facts" and about anything else is, as ridiculously good is my memory of melodies. Even for things I heard only once or twice at age three, there is a good chance I still can recall them.

KDE (which I pronounce with the German letter names ("kah-day-eh") out of habit) or Openbox, interchangeably.

I see GTK as a plague of humanity well on one level with Hitler, Emperor Nero and the Catholic church.

hurrr

I used to play:
- Runescape (it's better than people make it...)
- Maple Story (grind HELL)

I still play:
- Ragnarok Online (TwilightRO, being the head GM of it ever since Emuz passed it down to me so I can't even think of quitting)
- [Ragnarok Online 2] (I don't really play, but am participying in coding an emulator for it... which is quite interesting since we are capable of emulating a server reasonably before the game even has been released to the general public)
