It would help if you, you know, provided a download for the editor.

Recent developments
- Further inbound expansionism.
- Annexation of another piece of uninhabited territory.
- Commencing construction of a state-of-the-art Defensive Physical Obstacle™ to the south.
- Mounting of two SHOVEL-class stationary artillery units at the southern border.
- New stimulated emission technology enters beta testing stage.

I'd write up something more intricate but I'm somewhat tired at the moment.

The demo (compared to the delay from 9 to 10, this was really fast, I think) has been out for about a week now.

Notable about it, perhaps, is a not excessive, but noticeable depart from its recent predecessors in musical style (the stage 2 theme, mostly due to its percussion, kind of made me think of Secret of Mana's first Flammie BGM) - which I find interesting myself, but already saw being condemned by others - and what I perceive to be a remarkable raise in difficulty compared to, say, Imperishable Night (which, as the Touhou game I played by far the most, still is my main frame of reference).

All in all, this looks like a very promising demo, though at this rate, I have my doubts I'll have the nerve to get to the final stage in Normal mode (Easy is something I never really bother with...)

Has anybody else tried it yet, and if so, what are your opinions?

How intertwined is this with the Mac OS X API, i.e. how easy would it be to make a port to, for instance, X11 using GTK or Qt or even Windows API?

Other than that, that looks pretty neat. Good to see some ROM hacking development outside of the Windows/DOS platforms is still going on.

2015-2020 – during this time, nanobots will be available that can render hazardous materials harmless, enrich farmlands by placing correct amounts of oxygen and nutrients into the soil, and roam through bodies analyzing vital conditions and displaying health information directly on the skin (like a temporary tattoo). Also in this period, computers will be able to sense and respond to human thoughts; and tissues and organs will be grown inside the body using stem cell and genetic engineering techniques.

That prognosis sounds about as unrealistic to me as the 20th-century spaceflight fiction (cf. 2001: A Space Odyssey). After the end of the Cold War, technological progress steadily slowed down due to a lack of serious competition and overly rigid state-backed monopolies. Life in 2020 probably will hardly be different from today's, if at all.

Grey goo.

You totally beat me to that.

Translated ROMs themselves are not nearly as easy to find as translation patches for predefined versions of the original-language ROMs since the translation groups rarely want to descend into the darker shades of grey that surrounds distribution of the games themselves (although I know of no case to establish the legality of fantranslations either, and highly doubt they would be). If you don't want to patch yourself at all, I believe some ROM sites like dgemu.com occasionally offer pre-patched fantranslated ROMs for download as well.

Grey goo.
"We cannot afford certain types of accidents", Eric Drexler, Engines of creation, 1986
"I wish I had never used the term 'grey goo'", Eric Drexler, Nature 10 June 2004

Not really all that possible.

Why not? Given (a) relatively frequent chemical compound(s) as a basis and no too picky requirements to the medium of operation, it's a fairly realistic outcome should a machine that can replicate itself be built (which is, especially at that small scale, not such an unrealistic outlook).

Competition's good points come from it being one of the few, if not the only, means of containing power and influence.
Trax' cooperation argument kind of depends on an (in my opinion, unrealistic) assumption that it's innovation and advances the separate actors in the industry strive for rather than power and profit. (Those who don't never quite achieve the power and profit required to fund cutting-edge innovation)

Back in elementary school, I masterminded and, to a large part, built a treehouse. Does that count?

Megaman 2, though I have scarcely tried five games out of the options.

The later NES Megamans are sorts of knockoff and not nearly as memorable in several aspects, while the SNES ones lack the charm of the NES series in my eyes.

The pipe in the first screenshot isn't integrating with the ground tiles properly.
Invisible blocks aren't exactly a good gameplay element except in a handful of very special cases, plain beach levels with no story but "hey, there are invisible blocks around here" not being one of them.
Other than that, it still does somewhat bland for various reasons, like what Xeruss said.

Still, I see no signs of outright stupidity in here, so it might have potential if you put a lot more work into it. Keep it up.

I programmed a windows Simulator when I was 9. By myself. And to this day I'm the only person I know who can do that type of thing.

What is a "windows Simulator" anyway?

Society has too much inertia to switch to another source of energy in conceivable time. Most likely, they'll just resort to some method of creating compatible fuels from biomass, coal or whatever else might be available, which will still certainly result in oil being more expensive than it is today, thus making it a worthy deal (assuming you can get hold of the means of storing it for a cheap enough rent or maintenance price so as to not nullify the effects of the rising prices).

Hmm. I think it would be, perhaps, Aqua. The band responsible for this: http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=zEzh10_xoqw

Why is that Video subtitled in Japanese?
